I'll Be Seeing You is a dual timeline set in Boise, Idaho and features two generations of women and their life. In present day, Brianna is a typical college student who needs to interview someone for her history class and her great grandmother Daisy is the perfect choice. Part of the story is about current day with Brianna and her life and her talks with Daisy. The other part flashes back to Daisy's life as a young girl in the early 40's when the US got involved in World War II and how it impacted the lives of those left at home as the men go off to fight. This is an interesting and sometimes sad story with the historical aspect and the focus on the lives of Daisy, her family, and friends and the ups and downs they endure. The two parallels show how both Daisy and Brianna are imperfect people who grew up in a Christian family and come to realize their need to rely on God for direction. Filled with many appropriate and timely scripture references, this is a wonderfully inspirational and poignant story of forgiveness, faith, and love. I highly recommend for those who enjoy dual timeline and inspirational family stories.

Robin Lee Hatcher has another winner in this book!

Hatcher admirably weaves multiple characters and timelines into a prescient read that reminds me of God’s sovereignty, the power of truth, and the importance of character, integrity, and being surrounded by quality friends willing to speak truth to us, even (especially) when we don’t want to hear it.

As time continues to march on, we inevitably lose those who go before us and remember different times: world wars, depressions…the world has changed much in the last century (though sometimes it doesn’t seem all that different!). I finished the book encouraged to spend time with the older loved ones in my life who are still here, and listen not only to their stories but the wisdom they would pass down to me. I’d also love to sit with those who may not have family nearby to visit them, for whatever reason! Everyone should have that listening ear.

Well worth the read, and a message I greatly appreciate.

I absolutely enjoy a Robin lee Hatcher book and thus I gulped this book down . I received a complimentary copy from the author , publisher and NetGalley and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I rarely love a story written in two different timelines but I enjoyed this book. This book follows a young woman whose perception of her grandmother is changed when she has to do a project. It was interesting to discover that every one has a story , a past and a series of choices they have made. Absolutely enjoyed this book.

I typically enjoy historical fiction most when seen in a dual timeline story and this book was really quite good. I enjoyed seeing the parallels between GeeGee and Brianna's stories and how GeeGee tried to share the lessons she'd learned through her life to protect Brianna from emotional turmoil.

Brianna Hasting's is attending college at the local school and is required to write a paper for her history course. She's required to speak to the oldest member of her family and share their story. Brianna's family member happens to be her 98-year-old great grandmother, Daisy, who lived through World War II. As Daisy shares with Brianna what it was like living through such a difficult time in history, she's bombarded with her own life's history.

This story is beautiful! A story of forgiveness and love. How God forgives us, how others forgive us, and how we must forgive ourselves. I really enjoyed how this book flows back and forth, from the past to the present, giving more information as it goes. Very well written!

A wholesome read set in modern day and WWII. Two sisters love the same man. One wants to marry him and one comforts him before he leaves for war. The consequences are life altering and will change the sisters’ relationships. The young college aged Brianna gets to know history and her family better through a history assignment.
It wasn’t clear to me if Brianna knew the truth about a family member.
Character and integrity are important traits.

Brianna Hastings’s life seems dull and full of disappointment until a handsome young man visits her church. She’s instantly smitten by the charming Greg, who leads an exciting, independent life—the kind of life she longs for. But when a college history assignment forces Brianna to interview her great-grandmother about life during World War II, she can’t believe it when Daisy presses her with questions about Greg’s character. “What sort of man is he? Who is he at his core?” The questions take both women back to Boise, Idaho, in the early 1940s, when war emphasized how fragile life could be. Daisy and her older sister pine for the same handsome bomber pilot—until one night of terrible judgment reveals their true characters and drives them apart. Trying to protect the people she loves the most, Daisy condemns herself to live a lie.

The author explores love, heartbreak, family, mistakes, and consequences, and Hatcher highlights that God’s grace and mercy is with us even when we’re certain we don’t deserve it. This book had me from the start. I love the Christian theme throughout the book. I plan on recommending it to my church book club. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting my request for this book. I highly recommend it.

I’ll Be Seeing You by Robin Lee Hatcher is a dual time line Christian fiction story. Brianna is taking a college course she doesn’t want to be in, that has an assignment that counts for half her grade. She is to visit with someone about a time in history. She visits with her great-grandmother Daisy and learns what is was like for her and others during WWII.

This is such a powerful story. It is beautifully written with loveable characters. I so adore Daisy and loved her parts of the story. I also enjoyed the current day parts of the story of Brianna and her friends. I especially enjoyed the parts of Daisy in the 1940’s and how one night changed her life and how she dealt with it. This is a nice story of forgiveness and that God will see us through difficult situations.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this story from the publisher through Net Galley, this is my honest review.

What a wonderful read, one that I couldn't put down, and one that will long linger with me!

The setting is a difficult time in history, living during WWII, and young love. When War is declared many are quickly marring, but we are with a young man that is not quite ready, and his girlfriend Lillian is upset, things are not going as she had planned. Enter the young sister Daisy, and then her great granddaugher Brianna. Yes, this is a time slip novel, from the 1940's to present time.

Life is different, but not really, we are gifted with a story that is full of love and strong in forgiveness. A beautifully written Christian read!

I received this read through Net Galley and the Publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review.

Generations of secrets unfold as a young college student learns the truth about her great-grandmother’s World War II heartbreak and love.
This split-time story deals with some harsh realities in life, especially how lies impact everyone around them. A stirring story that is a very good read. Robin Lee Hatcher never disappoints, her latest narrative highlights how everyone makes mistakes in life, the importance of being honest about what you have done, sharing your experiences and wisdom with others, and making peace with your past and with God.

I enjoyed the relationship between Brianna and GeeGee, she made sure Brianna understood that she needed to find a good, honest, and trustworthy man with the same beliefs as her.

All I can say is wow! What a great story! Many times I had to pause in my reading and reflect on the powerful words Robin Lee Hatcher shared thru her characters! Forgiveness and grace, oh how we may not understand how the Lord can do these things but He does! I really like how the author included from the perspective of a elderly woman who lived in actual hard times, the Great Depression and world war 2 and how the genuinely lived in such hard times and the youth of today and even adults don’t realize just how entitled we are.
I’ll be seeing you is a dual timeline romance and historical fiction. The characters and storyline were believable. The only thing I was disappointed in was the ending a little, I would’ve liked to read on how certain characters fared in the end.
Robin Lee Hatcher is a wonderful storyteller and I’m so very glad I was able to read this ARC for a honest review from NetGalley.

This is a wonderfully written and engaging novel set in present day and early 1940’s. The story focuses on Daisy and her life altering choices at the time of WWII and Brianna, her great granddaughter, who is tasked with interviewing Daisy for a history assignment in college. I really enjoyed how the author wove so many life lessons and the truth of God’s word into the story. One quote that I found profound is “Sin has consequences even confessed sin that God forgave. But there was blessing to be found in truth-telling as well” I hope the message of this book gets into the hands of a reader who needs to know that God is all about forgiveness and love. The characters were authentic and realistic and I particularly loved Daisy and Todd.

Brianna learns valuable lessons from her great grandmother GeeGee (Daisy) when she is assigned a project in her college history class. This dual timeline story features Daisy back in the 1940s as she comes to terms with the results of the choices she makes. Brianna faces the same sort of choices in the present. I had trouble liking Brianna in the beginning as I could see the poor choices she was making and wanted to “shake some sense into her.” She eventually grew on me a bit. Certainly a book about choices and consequences and a reminder of the ultimate forgiveness that can be found in Jesus.

Back of the Book: “Generations of secrets unfold as a young college student learns the truth about her great-grandmother’s World War II heartbreak and love. For fans of Francine Rivers and Karen Kingsbury.
Who is he at his core?”
What could her great-grandmother possibly know about love at first sight?
The questions take both women back to Boise, Idaho, in the early 1940s, when war emphasized how fragile life could be. Daisy and her older sister pine for the same handsome bomber pilot—until one night of terrible judgment reveals their true characters and drives them apart. Trying to protect the people she loves the most, Daisy condemns herself to live a lie.
In the years that follow, as Daisy grapples with the consequences, she receives unexpected grace from a man she’s known her whole life but never looked at twice. Could what she learned about love save Brianna from heartache three generations later?
Impressions: This was a beautiful book of redemption and God’s love in action. The characters all demonstrated our sinful nature to some extent and how God’s love redeems us. In return, the characters were transformed and had the wisdom to share. Although this story was set up with a parallel narrative it was easy to follow and read. I appreciated learning from the past and it was special that Brianna was able to learn from Daisy, her grandmother. Brianna demonstrated that our small, sometimes insignificant decisions build up and can be life-changing. It was a lesson hard-learned but so important to acknowledge. This was a book I struggled with putting down.
Quotes: There was much wisdom to glean from this story. In other words, I highlighted a lot. Here are a glimpse of my highlights.
“It seemed to Daisy, in some ways, that the young of today were even more…not innocent but…What was the word she wanted? Oh, yes. Unprepared.” -This is the last thing I want for my boys. It seems to me though that in response to this idea is parents allowing their children to experience or be exposed to ideas and concepts earlier and earlier.
“Buy my steps were guided by God, and when I went astray, the Lord was still able to turn all things to good when I returned to Him in faith and trust.” -Emphasis on “when I returned” in this quote. God can’t help us if we have not turned to him and sought him out.
“I believe that deep love- lasting love-comes with time, with living. Love is often a decision we make on individual days for a lifetime.”
“The world loves to tell us to follow our hearts. But scripture makes it clear that the heart cannot always be trusted. Jeremiah wrote, ‘The heart is more deceitful than all else.’”
“God doesn’t leave us alone in times of despair. He will see us through whatever we must face in life if we invite Him in.” –“If we invite him.”
“Don’t let others do that to you. You know who you are. You know who God says you are. Live up to that, and it doesn’t matter what others think of say.”
“God had forgiven her, but the enemy of her soul liked to remind her of her failures, of her sinful choices.”
“Begin as you mean to go on, and go on as you began, and let the Lord be all in all to you.”
“…those who don’t learn history are doomed to repeat it.”
“…Sometimes we must preach the gospel without using words.”

3.5 Stars A story of sisters, choices, forgiveness and redemption. I wish more was done with the female characters. There’s a lot of pettiness, selfishness, and immaturity. The male characters are treated more generously. In addition, the preaching felt very heavy handed, especially considering the paths the sisters take.

Brianna Hasting is forced by a college course requirement to interview her great-grandmother, Daisy on what life was like during WW II. She can’t believe the gall of her grandmother when she asks what kind of character Greg the guy she has just met at church. Daisy tells Brianna to guard her heart, but Brianna doesn’t understand why she would need to do that.

Brianna doubts her great-grandmother knows what she is talking about.

Little does Brianna know how her great-grandmother came to be married to her great-grandfather, and how she deceived herself through choices that would change her in ways that she could never imagine.

I really enjoyed this. It was thought-provoking about the choices we make and decision that can mark the rest of our lives for good or bad. 4.5 stars

My gratitude to Thomas Nelson and Netgalley. All opinions expressed are mine.

Very encouraging book with lessons for all. The dual storylines worked well together. I would have liked the timelines to not have jumped back and forth so quickly. I loved that Daisy could share her journey to Brianna in such a powerful way. Todd's faith, love and encouragement was so heartfelt.

I loved these two sentences: “Mercy is not getting what we deserve (Hell). Grace is getting what we don't deserve (Heaven)". Powerful! Recommended!
