A Fair Warning, yes dear reader, to you too that this is a book where you will experience all the warm, sweet fuzzies you get while watching a Romantic Comedy, only much much better and satisfying. You will have no complain from the sexy, smart characters in this story.

Mixed feelings...

Chuck and Poppy felt a bit immature in places instead of coming out as mischievous/ naughty teasing pair. So some of the scenes seemed to fa a bit flat and couldn't laugh.

Looks to be the first in a new series. Hope the next ones are more interesting and engaging.

Poppy and Chuck have been enemies since they were children and the feud hasn’t died down never missing a chance to fight with each other, sparks fly with these two from the beginning. Poppy isn’t your typical heroine she is more of a tomboy which I love as it is very relatable and makes her character more human she has sass for days and takes no prisons, Chuck has been in love with her forever but hasn’t flipped that switch to tell the fierce Poppy how he feels. Their relationship has its ups and downs where their insecurities are visible to anyone but each other. I really enjoyed their story and the supporting characters helped to build up the background and suspense, more is in store for all of them and I can’t wait to read more and to find out how Poppy and Chuck’s relationship blossoms throughout the series.

I really hate to give a book less than a 5 rating. I struggled with finishing this book. Perhaps it was that the romance moved too fast for me to have a chance to care about the characters or that I just felt like the main characters were acting too much like teenagers. The idea of the book was great and contained enough humor to give it a rom com feel but something was missing. Overall it just felt rushed and like the characters were not well developed. I will certainly read more of her books in the future however because while this story missed the mark for me, there is still great talent there.

The love story was cute after the incident behind the bar but overall I couldn't get over the copaganda from this book. I just don't think a book coming out in 2022 should have a line saying that they always support law enforcement. The beginning also had some weird comments about gender that I didn't like.

I received an arc through netgalley.

An enemies to lovers trope that moved way to fast from one to the other for me to accept and I was hoping for more 'getting to know each other' stage now that they have realised they aren't or shouldnt be enemies. The characters themselves were really interesting and a little different to what I have seen of late so it did make a nice change, the comedic value probably wasn't played up enough with what it could have been seeing as they had played so many pranks on each other etc. A little more depth of who each of them were and their shared enemy history with development into friendship wouldve made the book a more enjoyable read. 'Chuck' was almost bordering on stalker, actually, no he was a stalker that was romanticised and she was a little self absorbed and immature.
It was though very good at building up on the steamier side of the romance and it will be interesting to see where the rest of the series goes, especially after being introduced to some of those characters in this book.
I managed to get through this book very quickly so although the characters and their story didn't do it for me it was enjoyable enought to race through it.

I loved this hilarious rom-com!! The blurb made me laugh and I couldn't pass it by. I was so excited to see this is only the first book in a series about Poppy's siblings and cousins. I hope I enjoy those as much as this first book.
Poppy Prince grew up in a small town where there were two distinct groups: townies and river rats, and the two groups never mixed. Charlie "Chuck" Duke was a river rat that followed her around and harassed her through her childhood, even creating her most hated nickname "Poppycock". She always hated his cruel pranks and teasing and now that he's returned to town and become the deputy, he's back to stalking her, showing up at her bar almost every night. Charlie has always loved Poppy and it seems the only way to get her to notice him is by teasing her. He can't understand what he did to make her hate him so much. But after a projectile puke incident, she sees what he goes through for his job and realizes that maybe he's changed. Maybe her nemesis is who she's been longing for all along...
I received a complimentary copy of this book. The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Poppy and Chuck have been sworn enemies since they were teenagers primarily due to a series of miscommunications, stupid childhood pranks and nicknames and this has continued into adulthood as well. Despite their tough exteriors, they both harbour feelings for each other.

A Fair Warning is a typical enemies to lovers romcom.. But something just wasn't for me. I couldn't connect with Poppy and her immaturity when came to Chuck. To be fair, Chuck kept feeding into it to get a rise out of her.

The story was okay, the romance was a bit too much too fast for the story in my opinion. The resolution from enemies to lovers seemed to happen pretty quickly and I was a little disappointed because I thought there would be more development between them once they expressed their feelings. Overall it was a bad read, and I'm sure some individuals would love reading about a badass female bartender who gives her heart to deputy.

This was a pretty average read for me that didn’t really leave me too satisfied when ending. I wasn’t the biggest fan of some characters and events in the story but it’s not to say everyone else will have the same thoughts, it is a very interesting story and great for romance readers.

This book is romcom with pulling the heart strings rolled up with morals and ethics without making it boring or predictable at it''s best. I highly recommend this book to any fiction reader. Well done Ms Roman, looking forward to read more of your literary works.

Although the book had a slow start, this book ended up following the typical enemies to lovers arc, written from the perspectives of the main characters. Poppy and Chuck have been sworn enemies since they were younger due to a series of mishaps and miscommunications, and they have continued this into adulthood as well. Despite their tough exteriors, they both seem to harbour feelings for each other, and the book explores how their relationship progresses, when they keep running into each other. A fair warning was a funny romance read, and I especially enjoyed seeing their relationship progress, and reading about both characters longing for each other.

Thank you the Arc Netgalley. This book has a plot based ona typical romance with two main characters Poppy and Chuck. Chuck is obsessed with Poppy even though Poppy is irritating and downright rude to him. Sometimes the story felt like forced and it felt downright immature. Nevertheless I read it. Good as a one time read.

Thank you NetGalley and Wild One Press for this arc.

A Fair Warning presents as a typical romcom, which it was. But I felt it was trying too hard when I read it.
Poppy and Chuck both read like middle schoolers with their constant obsessing over each other. I just spent too much time in their heads and kept wishing for the story to get to some point. I found Poppy particularly irritating with her immaturity. To be fair, Chuck kept feeding into it (imagine proposing marriage in front of your former high school principal!). I thought these characters were in their mid to late 20s. Also, I thought some of Poppy's friends, family, bar customers and her "peeps" kept crossing the line between teasing and just plain meaness.

The story was okay, the romance was over-the-top for me, and I just didn't like the characters.

This book is a solid yes. (although it's not free of any critics and you'll see why)

Chuck and Poppy have always had a difficult relationship. It started in high school where angry banter was all they knew and where they got their nicknames: Upchuck and Poppyc*ck. So, as you see, they weren't the best of friends.

Although, what's that saying? There's a fine line between hate and love.

And that seems to be the case for our Chuck and Poppy. Caught into their teenager angst they failed to see how they felt pulled to the other. Ah, but time fixes everything and eventually they get their chance.

Now the dual POVs was a great narrative choice to show perfectly the hate turning to something more, the yearning and the misunderstanding. What I loved most was the palpable tension and attraction between those two.

Chuck is totally smitten with Poppy and that is always nice to read.

What I did NOT enjoy was:
- the totally useless girly makeover. Poppy is what would be described as "one of the guys". A girl who isn't into girly things and doesn't have a girly aesthetic. Which is completely FINE. Except that apparently is not something acceptable cause Poppy thinks she can fix all of her problems with her reputation and relationship with the other sex if she were to wear skirts and heels apparently. Which is, of course, wrong and thank god that Chuck was already in love with her so it was short-lived but still.
- the internalized misogyny and the blatant racism. Honestly. I get that characters are not perfect and are defined by their flaw but why pick those two exact flaws? I mean, even without those, Poppy is still far from perfect. I feel like his hatred of girls, of a certain kind of girls, is just her insecurities showing up. But all the same? I'm over this kind of narrative.

If it wasn't for the great chemistry between the two, and how adorable Chuck is. the rating for this book would be much different.

I DNF'ed this novel.

From the get go, the writing style was a pain point for me and it seemed to be all over the place in terms of the character back story. They didn't know each other very well, and then they did, and then back and forth.

Normally I love this style of book, but the male character creeped me out from the first chapters and I could not finish.

1 star for having taken on the challenge to write, which I applaud the author for. Otherwise, not for me.

I loved the sexual angst that develops between the characters. We can feel Chucks desire for this woman even though she clearly doesn't know it. Poppy dislikes his constant teasing and put downs that although were meant to drawn her attention to him caused a long lasting hit to her self esteem and self worth. That she decides to show him how much of a woman she is by giving him a blow job makes me cringe with disgust and despair.
Overall,, There's a sweet love story here between Chuck and Poppy and I'm glad they were able to get past the hurt they inflicted on each other but I can't help but think that Charles could have done more to mend the hurt he caused.

A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a miss for me. Poppy and Charlie (Chuck) are childhood enemies (because for some reason teasing and joking around as a tween makes you mortal enemies that you're still upset about into your late twenties?) Poppy doesn't like Charlie when they are growing up because he lives in the poorer section outside of town. She frequently calls his names like "Hillbilly" and disparages his home life. Whereas, Charlie has loved Poppy his whole life. He was teasing her as a way to get noticed. Flash forward to adulthood, Poppy is just getting out of a divorce to her ex who cheated on her. She runs the local bar and lives at home with her mother. Charlie arrived in town after being absent from his hometown his entire adult life. He's also the new deputy in town. Charlie tries to prove to Poppy that they should quit the constant fighting and start dating.

Poppy was so irritating to me. She comes off as immature and judgmental. My husband and I have been together since we were teens. We have always had a very jokey and teasing relationship. I can't see myself holding something against him that he said as a fifteen year old. Poppy makes comments about how her ex's new girlfriend is slutty for dressing girly. And then gets upset that Charlie doesn't think she is "feminine" enough (even though he never says that.) She has her sister give her a "girly" makeover to get is attention. It's just so ridiculous.

I actually liked Charlie for the most part. He tried to be sweet and attentive. Getting his point of view and seeing how much he had liked her since childhood was adorable... until the author kept repeatedly referring to him as a stalker once they were together. That's not a "funny or witty" thing to say especially since his job is in law enforcement. Charlie's internal misogynistic dialogue would comment about how being emotional made him a girl.

I started this book thinking it it would be a cute and funny enemies to lovers since other reviews really loved it. Some scenes I did like'; the opossum scene in the beginning had me laughing out loud. Unfortunately, a lot of character and plot issues fundamentally didn't work for me. Dianna Roman already has two entire series planned out for this small town but they will be a skip for me.

Tropes include: small town romance, enemies to lovers, pining, second chance.

Thank you to NetGalley and Wild One Press for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

It was refreshing to read a book that had a badass woman and love-sick man. The stalking aspect of the story was a little off-putting since it was mentioned repeatedly using that exact word. The resolution from enemies to lovers seemed to happen pretty quickly and I was a little disappointed. Overall, I thought it was a cute story and there were even a few points where I laughed aloud. I enjoyed it.

This is a common plot in most books. However, I liked the language between the characters. It seemed natural to use the words and actions between these characters because they had a tortured past.
