3.5 stars--SOOMI’S SWEATER by Susie Oh is a children’s story that focuses on a little girl, Soomi, and a too large sweater that she wants to wear now but wearing the sweater to school, Soomi soons discovers that a small tear in the sweater that gets larger with each attempt to fix.

SOOMI’S SWEATER is a cute, simple story about patience and understanding, and the resulting lesson of wanting everything now. The images are colorful and somewhat abstract-the illustrator uses one color pallet throughout; the text is simple but the grammar, and text is questionable with missing punctuation and capitalization. Overall, a sweet story.

This short picturebook follow Soomi as she deals with conflicts with her sweater. The story this very sweet and expresses many important themes. I think this could be very enjoyable for kids and that they will find some value in it's words. They will also be pleasantly surprised but the lovely artwork.

Soomi's Sweater is a beautifully illustrated picture book about impatience, managing disappointment, and solving problems. Soomi gets a new sweater that is too big for her but doesn't want to wait until she grows into it before wearing it. The sweater is snagged and a hole grows, but she is worried about telling her mom she's damaged the new sweater. Her mom fixes her sweater and adds a little embellishment, and Soomi realizes sometimes it's best to wait until the time is right. Very cute, simple illustrations.

I think that it would be hard NOT to fall in love with Soomi. The illustrator of this story makes her so sweet and appealing. The story itself is simple but has some themes that are important; these include wanting things maybe at the wrong time, the importance of the intended helpfulness of friends even when this does not quite hit the mark, feeling one’s emotions, being able to tell a parent something hard and the ability to fix things and make them better. All of this told through the story of a sweater. Highly recommended.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Soomi's Sweater is a cute story for children, but I have to be honest: I was a bit disappointed with it. Having read a few Clavis Publishing's books recently, I was expecting something else. The story in itself was still enjoyable. The drawings were cute, the story too, but I wasn't as fond of it as I had expected to be. The moral of the story still felt nice: Soomi learns that from everything that is a bit damaged can be created something else—something better. This particular point was very nice, I think, especially if told to children in that case.

I would still recommend this short story, though. I am sure some children would appreciate it very much.

Thank you Netgalley and Clavis Publishing for the chance to read this eArc of Soomi's Sweater.

A cute children's book full of amazing pictures and wisdom:
- Whether a problem is big or small, most of the time depends solely on your perspective.
- There's hardly any issue your Mom cannot fix.
- You shouldn't rush things: there's always time for everything.
- If you're in trouble, you can count on your friends.

My 3.5-year-old is a bit like Soomi, and she loved this book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for an Advance Review Copy.

High drama when a young girl in love with her new sweater, even if it is too big and should be kept waiting for her to grow into, gets a mahoosive hole in it as soon as she wears it at school for the first time. It's a little twee story, cutely done as regards the visuals, and has a nice pay-off. But I can't say it'll become a classic, or even be highly memorable, however close-to-life the juvenile repairs and the resulting tantrums get to feel. Three and a half stars, perhaps.

Soomi has a new sweater which quickly turns into a little problem. She's eager to wear her new sweater to school until a thread unravels and she ends up with a hole. This was such a cute story. I love that Soomi's friends all try to help her solve her problem, but eventually she needs more help than they can offer, and mom shows her how to fix it. The illustrations are super cute. I really loved them. I think Soomi's meltdown might have been my favorite drawing. She's a whole mood. I definitely recommend this adorable book.

This storybook is really cute.

How a little kid cannot wait to wear a nice sweater and what happens after she does.

A good lesson for all the kids as to why they can listen to their guardians.

The illustrations are subtle yet amazing.

Thank you author, artist for the advance reading copy.
