So this is my oldest eARC on Netgalley. I got it in 2014 and probably read a bit and didn't like it. I don't like to DNF any books and especially not an ARC. I also prefer to write constructive reviews. I couldn't even begin here. Now certainly some issues have to do with my own prejudices. Oh and at the beginning of the book, there is a 3-4 page listing with names of characters and places. *rolls eyes*

It's one thing to have a short reference list but this was huge for a 200 page story with not that many characters. All the names seemed overly complex with odd spellings.

The overall story is about a bunch of gods who make snarky comments and fight some other groups. The main characters in the couple are the God of Fertility and a human, Ismini. All they think about is their fate and lust, over and over and over. There are two side couples involving Ismini's two best friends.

Everything else I might say is a spoiler, if there can be one with this little plot. Suffice it to say I did not enjoy this book.

<spoiler>The basic trope is they are fated mates (which I dislike) and she is a virgin (which I loathe). A seer convinced him 11,000 years ago to promise to sacrifice Ismini to the Fates to save another woman he thought he loved. There is just all this denying they are mates, going on and on about their lust / arousal, feeling sorry she must die, but otherwise no intelligent strategy or plot. </spoiler>

Unfortunately, I could not finish this book, I would have preferred there to be a DNF rating, but as there isn't I have to go with a 1-star.

I am sorry to be so very late posting this. I never connected with the charters or the story so I never left a review
