I loved this book! I love to do yoga with my children, but have trouble gauging what they can/can't do and planning good routines for them. This was a wonderful guide that kept things at their level, but was still enjoyable for me as well.

I've been practicing yoga on and off for over 10 years. Now that I have a little daughter of my own, I'd love to teach her about yoga. I loved how this book gave a great overview to yoga and meditation at the beginning. I also loved how there were numerous practices to do with your child that were relatively short, to accommodate their short attention spans. I also liked that there was a mix of practices with an animal/creature theme, taking poses with a different name and adapting their title to the animal/creature, as well as the introduction of poses with their common names.

Note to the publisher - this may only apply to the Adobe PDF version, but there appears to be some issues with formatting. A lot of the pose drawings appear to have a red background with static rainbow colors on the bodies, as well as text overlapping the red areas. Perhaps the digital formatting needs to be re-checked before publication.

Yoga with your child is a comprehensive introduction to a number of yoga and meditation practices. It is geared to an adult and their child buddy, one who is at least four years old; together adult and child are encouraged to learn some yoga. The authors note that it is good for a child to see an adult learning something new and for adult and child to be beginners together. I very much agree with this.

The book begins with helpful information on everything from what yoga is to breathing to meditation and more. There are then many exercises/poses to practice. Learning about OM, relaxation after yoga, mindfulness and other parts of the yoga experience are also discussed.

For each pose, there are clear instructions and illustrations. The sessions start more simply and become increasingly complex. I think that the adult may want to have read a bit so as to be ready to demonstrate for the child, even if they are to learn as a pair.

Those wanting to explore yoga will find this title to be a most helpful resource. It may lead both the adult and child to begin a new and healthy practice. An adult can, of course, also make use of this book on their own.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This title will be published on 29 Mar 2022.

Looking to start a yoga routine with your kids? This is a great place to start! I expected a picture book when I requested this, but I was pleasantly surprised to find ten great sequences to do with my kids. We've started doing a few poses before bed (it gets silly because they're YOUNG), but it's been a nice way to connect and they are always begging me to do more.

The majority of the sequences seem fairly accessible, although it does go into shoulder stands near the end. This might be more possible with older kiddos- but I've never been able to do one. ;) I really love that each sequence has a theme, that they have the estimated time and experience level, and have lengthy descriptions of each pose.

I wish that they would have associated the poses with the traditional asanas for parents who have that experience. The descriptions got a bit tedious after a while for someone who learns poses more by watching. The pictures in the ARC were difficult to follow, but I am sure the printed book will be better.

I will likely purchase a copy for us to have and reference, especially once we've created a routine and some basic knowledge around the asanas. Great little book!

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced e-copy in exchange for an honest review!

This would be a fun book to come across in a bookstore and buy with your child. The illustrations are really neat, with a ton of illustrated poses for you to know how to do the poses. I know yoga decently and thought this went over the basics but could have maybe made it a tiny bit more kid friendly. I was thinking of doing yoga with my 2 year old, but this is more advanced than that.

I am so so excited to implement and use this book as a bonding experience with my almost 3 year old son. We may not be able to do everything at his current age but we'll definitely have fun trying. We took a local mommy and me yoga class and he loved it. I want to try to use yoga as an outlet for him (and me) when he gets upset or frustrated (which with a 3 year old is pretty often). This book is so descriptive, showing the entire flow and then breaking it down showing the pose and giving a detailed description of what to do, how long and even the best time of day. I definitely recommend this book to any parent or even caregiver that is around children.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. This book tells the reader about Yoga, the reasons why Yoga is beneficial, how to practice, and 150 different Yoga poses. There are pictures for each pose. However, some are hard to see. I assume that this will be corrected in the actual purchase copy of the book and ebook. I am excited to do these with my children.

What a great read!

I feel far more prepared to attempt a yoga session with my son after reading. This book shows great ways to interact with children during an activity that is relaxing. I feel these tips will really help make the activity fun for kids who want to participate, or copy mommy/daddy.

I love the inclusive nature of this title. There were both sexes represented, people with tattoos, different hairstyles, and even a woman with underarm hair! I love seeing representation like this. Showing the vast and diverse world within the illustrations is a great way to connect with a variety of readers!

I would highly recommend this title to anyone interested in practicing yoga with their little ones.

I thought this was a great book for an introduction into yoga with your child. It starts off explaining yoga, the benefits, the benefits of doing it with your child/children. Then goes into the different joints with explanations. The poses all have a meaning and then instructions are written really well. I like that they give illustrations to go with each one. As someone not very experienced with yoga I felt like it was easy to understand what each pose entailed and follow along. Great book if you're looking into doing yoga with your child.

This is a nice little yoga book for parents of young children. It is quite thorough on things like how joints work, not even getting into the poses until page 45 or so. It gives you about 14 yoga sequences to do with your child, each in its own chapter with illustrations of the poses (my illustrations were bright red boxes and pixelated but they seem to be simple drawings). Each one tells you a bit about how it helps and when to do it. This is best suited for those with very young children, like toddler and preschool age. My youngest is now 10 and I had hoped for routines we could do together but I think we'll just look for some you-tube routines. This is an extensive paperback and will work well for those who want that sort of thing. I actually prefer resources that have some sort of theme or searchable uses, like yoga poses for when your child is constipated or routines you can in bed. This is very thorough and great for what it is, though.

I read a digital ARC of this book for review.
