3.5! This one was really cute and I loved the fixer upper aspect of this book. It really brought me back to the days where I would watch HGTV religiously. My only tripe was that there were a ton of side plots that I didn’t really care for that didn’t progress the story

This was such a cute and fun read! I loved the HGTV vibes as well as the small town and the romance. Thank you Netgalley and Forever for my copy.

Maggie Moves On by Lucy Score was an instant read because I am a fan of Lucy.

The dog on the cover had me absolutely drawn in and peaked my interest for reading.

This book mixes all of my favorite things- a steamy romance, a fixer upper HGTV style home, plenty of drama, and growth with the characters. I really enjoyed the relationship between Maggie and Silas. This romance has a lot going on, and while that may not be everyones cup of tea, I really enjoyed it.

Thank you NetGalley for this book in exchange for my honest review.

I liked this! It was a fun read, but not my favorite. Would like more depth to the characters and I honestly didn't love Silas.

Lucy Score is one of my favorite indie authors and she did NOT disappoint with her first traditionally published romance. I'm a huge HGTV fan and I jumped at the chance for a small town romance novel with a remodeling theme.

Maggie Nichols has a very successful youtube remodeling show. She, along with her business partner, arrive in Kinship, Idaho for their latest remodeling project. The Old Campbell Place, a mansion with sprawling views but needs of a lot of love.

Maggie’s channel is close to having a million subscribers and she knows this job could be the project that gets her there. Ready to start work, she then meets new landscaper, Silas Wright (and his pitbull, Kevin.) Silas is trouble and falls for Maggie right away but she has a rule, no dating the contractors.

I fell in love with these characters from the start and the Kevin was absolutely charming. This book had all the small town romantic charm, spice to turn up the heat, and lovable characters to keep you turning the pages.

I cannot get enough of Lucy Score's writing!!! Her books are such warm delightful reads. They look daunting from the size of them but I honestly never feel like they are dragging on. Most of the time I'm sad the book is over and wish there was more to it.

Maggie Moves On was no different. I loved the character build of Maddie and Silas. They were complete opposites but watching them find each other and then find themselves in the process really made for such a great story. I also loved how the message was about the family you build and create not just the family you are born to. In this day and age, the nuclear family isn't nearly as strong as it used to be. So we are seeing more families built up of close friends that have become like brothers or sisters to us. Those same friends then don the name auntie or uncle for our children. Family shouldn't just be limited to the blood line. As long as these people want nothing but the best for you and are there to celebrate your wins and recover from your losses, that is more than qualified to be family.

P.S. Kevin stole my freaking heart. Silas was perfection but I would die to meet Kevin.

Lucy Score is a great writer and I love how easily I can just fall into reading with her books. This was a great book about how opposites attract.

This is one of those books that I wanted to start over as soon as I finished. I love that Lucy Score writes characters in their 30’s and 40’s who are still figuring their lives out and don’t have it all together. It’s a relief after reading so many romance books where everyone ends up married with kids and their dream job by 23. One of the best parts of Maggie Moves On was getting to see the MCs be messy and admit that maybe they still haven’t figured out what they want their futures to look like. (Slight spoiler) I especially loved that the FMC didn’t have to give up her career and “settle down” to live happily ever after with the MMC. This is one of my favorite reads of 2022.

Thanks to Forever and NetGalley for the chance to review.

Lucy freaking Score has done it again. I loved all of Lucy’s previous books, but for some reason this one didn’t seem to have the same magic that hooked me to the Knockmout series and the Riley Thorn series. All in all a hysterically good rom com, with all my favorite Lucy staples like a good book boyfriend and a funny dog.

As a self-described HGTV addict and avid romance reader, Maggie Moves On is one of Lucy Score's best books to date! She writes such relatable characters you can't help but love them, avidly root for them, and want to move to their small town. Her skill at writing opposites attract love stories is unparalleled! I'll be recommending this one to all my romance reader friends!

Title: Maggie Moves on

Author: Lucy Score

Ch: 38

Pg: 403

Genre: Rom Com

Rating: 4 stars

Publisher: forever

I’m a sucker for home improvement tv shows. So, give me a rom com that focuses on one with a heroine who is the home improvement person. A sweet hero who’s not threatened by a capable heroine and a loveable doofus or a dog who wants to play matchmaker sign me up. While this one is a little on the long side for a rom com it reads fast.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

I am mad at this book. I'm mad because I spent the first hour of this audiobook cracking up. It was hilarious and I loved all of their banter. But it's very quickly turned sour for me and silas's flirty confidence turned possessive and egotistical.

Maggie is an independent successful woman who flips houses with her gay ex-husband and she's very headstrong. But somehow Silas just gets her to apologize. I was mad. It's hard to describe without giving big spoilers but basically Maggie does something that she thought was right even though it could have been dangerous and Silas flips a fucking shit that she didn't call him even though they barely know each other and he is her boss. Then to make matters worse she apologizes. Absolutely not. I should have stopped there.

The best part of this book is the fat pitbull and the gay subplot between Maggie's ex-husband and Silas is stepbrother. But even that had some questionable moments. There's a very binary view of queerness going as far as to define it simply as gay or straight with no in between. There's also this weird scene where Silas pressures his brother to come out and straight people, please don't do that. You have no idea what it's like to come out and it just gave off icky vibes for me. There's also a part where Maggie confesses that she essentially forced her ex-husband to marry her and was so clueless until he finally had the courage to come out as gay and then they divorced. There's headstrong and then there's bulldozer headstrong.

All in all I think Maggie and Silas both needed to get a fucking grip and learn how to listen to other people. I also will forever be annoyed with the fact that Silas had to be told he was being a dick by a woman who then told him what to do and he did the opposite and still ends up with the girl. How? Are straight people okay?

Lucy Score always writes great books and this one was no exception. I really loved the characters and plot, and the whole theme was so lovable and cute.

Ok I typically am a Lucy Score fan but this one was just eh to me. I found Silas hard to like. I was just not the biggest fan of his character. I also found Maggie to be annoying at times. I did like the flirty funny banter between the two. I found myself laughing out loud a few times. I had a hard time getting past the instant love. I am never a fan of instant love. It makes it so hard for me to believe the relationship throughout the entire book. Overall, I found myself bored reading this book at times. It was not a total miss but definitely not the best, 3 stars.

i unfortunately did not like this book which is why there won’t be an amazon or goodreads review linked. i thought it was way longer than it needed to be and i really disliked the MMC. i thought he was predatory and weird and don’t understand why this is being marketed as an enemies to lovers romance? enemies where? more like brief acquaintances to lovers. maggie had no interest in dating silas until she was essentially forced into it and it’s just not a trope i’ll ever enjoy.

Cute!! I love that he fell first. I love that Maggie was such a badass but also finally caved when Silas called her out on being alone. I love that her and Dean were still best friends. Kevin cracked me up a kept things light. Mr. Wright (right!) was so funny with his innuendos. The whole thing was fantastic!

I'm not sure why I waited so long to read this book! Maggie Moves On is my third Lucy Score book this year, and this just might be my favorite out of all of them.

Silas falls first, and he falls hard! I loved how flirty and sweet he was with just the right touch of alpha. He's totally ultimate book boyfriend material.

I loved Maggie just as much as Silas. I enjoyed watching this ambitious fixer-upper change her loner ways when she finds herself wanting to put down roots for the first time. Maggie’s found family is another favorite aspect of this book.

Who knew HGTV plus some steam would make the perfect combination for a light, funny, swoony book?
