I really enjoyed this book by Lucy Score. It was very well done by the author and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Note: I received an advanced copy to review. Side note: that won’t stop me from buying a signed copy if they’re made available to put alongside my other signed Lucy books, maybe right next to my signed alterna cover Grumpy Grump Face.

Let me start by saying I was transfixed from the first page. As a lifelong bookworm, that’s not abnormal for me, but it’s been more common during the past two pandemic years for me to struggle getting started.

Not this time. I opened the book and didn’t put it down again until I was finished reading it. The characters drew me in immediately, the story drew me in and had me hoping and wishing and excited to see what was to come.

I want to visit the Old Campbell Place. I want to live in Kinship. I want to hang out with Kinship’s version of Chip and JoJo and give Kevin all of the pets.

Lucy Score never disappoints, and this book is another amazing jewel in her tiara. Coming on the heels of Things We Never Got Over, which gave me an emotional book hangover for days, this book was exactly what I needed!

If you enjoy laugh-out loud romantic comedies that take place in small towns with quirky characters, then Lucy Score is the author for you. The thought she puts into her characters (including the animals because let's face it, they're characters too) is genius! Lucy Score hit it out of the park with Maggie Moves On!

House-flipper and YouTube star Maggie Nichols likes a challenge, so it's no surprise her next renovation is a dilapidated mansion in Kinship, Idaho. Being the work-a-holic she is, she's confident she can get the job done in a few months time then pack up and move on to her next renovation.
Enter hot landscape guy, Silas Wright, and his service-school dropout dog, Kevin, who fall in love at first sight and promise to make her see he's her “Mr. Right” and her reason to stay. She makes it clear she's not the settling down type, but she is willing to have some fun with him. And fun they have, especially when things get interesting with the renovation and there's a mystery to solve.

The flirtatious banter, the adventure, the nosy family, and quirky townspeople make this a laugh-out loud, heartwarming story I couldn't put down. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a feel-good story with some spice on the side.

Thank you NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for providing an ARC of this book for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, felt like Maggie was very relatable, quirky, and charming. Silas was an dreamy and enjoyable love interest for the most part. I absolutely adored the author's writing a male who is strong, but sensitive, and phenomenal at communicating. I thought the setting was absolute perfection and the story sucked in my inner child really quickly and I felt engaged fantastically in the story and adventure of it all. Just a little steam, which I appreciate less of instead of more. Some parts of the book felt redundant or like it had already been said, but it was lovely enough to keep reading.

I loved the love story of Silas and Maggie. It was this beautiful gently flowing soul opening journey of all the things and all the feelings. It’s a life and joy affirming masterpiece cleverly disguised as a romcom. Maggie is a house fixer upper/flipper. Her construction show is on YouTube with almost a million followers. She works with her BF/ex-husband and has no home base and no village. She is a self-sufficient island surrounded by a brick wall camouflaged as competent independence.. Silas is the owner of Bitterroot Landscapes and is hired to help with Maggie’s latest project in quirky small town Kinship, Idaho. Silas believes that he has met his future wife the moment he sets eyes on Maggie and he tells her so which should be creepy and stalkerish but is really adorably dorky instead. Silas is the polar opposite of Maggie. He is all roots and all village. Silas and Maggie’s relationship and who they are is revealed in an organic manner as they spend time together fixing the Old Campbell place. The book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, steamy scenes, strong friendships, supportive family, snort worthy laughs, painful pasts, adorable pets, a little mystery, and all the heart squeezing love. Experiencing the journey of Silas and Maggie as they fall in love and work through their individual issues (especially Maggie) gave me all the feels - you will definitely laugh, cry, swoon, cringe, cheer, and happy sigh. This story is a romantic comedy but it’s also a deeply emotional story about trust, finding your village and embracing the joy. “Success is only a very small part of life. That’s not how you find happiness. Because, at the end of the day, your quality of life is determined by the people you surround yourself with. The significant others, the partners, the sisters, the friends, the team you choose. The people who have your back. The people who celebrate your wins and mourn your losses with you. …it’s a truth that sooner or later we all forget. And it’s one we have to fight to remember.” This is a book you will remember.

I was hesitant going in to this book because I love most of Lucy’s work but didn’t want to set my expectations too high. I shouldn’t have been concerned because I was fully immersed by chapter two.

Lucy crafts strong characters but isn’t afraid to show their faults and vulnerabilities. This makes them relatable and sucks me into their stories. I fell in love with Maggie and her diverse and lovable tribe. They are a great example of the family you choose being as important as the the family you’re born into.

The story was a nice combination of humor, love and drama with a bit of mystery thrown in. If you like a well written story with great character development and no needless dramatics, you’ll love Maggie Moves On!

Maggie Moves On was a cute read. There was lots of wit and banter that was fun and had me laughing. The main characters fell a little flat for me though. Silas and his alpha male tendency drove me a little crazy. It was hard to see independent Maggie being okay with a man who told her what to do so often. The mystery around the Old Campbell Place had me hanging around though it was neat to see where it led.

Thanks to Netgalley for the copy of this book to read and review!

4.5⭐️this was such an amazing read! i think this solidified lucy as one of my fav authors. the way she writes romance is just AMAZING. i absolutely loved the premise here, and think it was executed so well, it literally went exactly how i wanted it to! i loved everything about this from the super engaging plot, to the pacing, to the side characters (whom i got VERY attached to), i could go on and on. i also loved the role reversal here- the male love interest being the one who falls first and being enamored with the girl who doesn’t want to admit feelings. i loved the small town setting too. silas was so great as a love interest, he was a relentless flirt but also super charming and very emotionally intelligent. i also loved maggie, i related to her a lot. the ending really made it for me, i loved the way the mystery got solved and how everyone had their happy ending without having to give up too much. i think the only thing i don’t really like is the third person pov, because i don’t really like it in romance novels, but that is the only possible flaw i can think of!

What a fun, sexy well written story. Maggie, famous on YouTube for her home renovation show, has bought a historic monster of a house in Kinship, Idaho. Will Maggie’s formula of buy, rehab, move on be successful? Not if Silas, hot landscaper guy to her viewers, has any say in it. Cocky and over confident Silas is sure he can get Maggie to stay. The banter in this book was swoon worthy. Definitely a must read

Maggie Moves On

If you love HGTV and romance, this book is a must read for you!

🏡House-flipping You-tuber (Maggie): Home renovation and decorating
😍Handsome Landscaper (Silas)
🐾Kevin the dog and his two kittens (Dolly Parton and Taco)
😁A loving diverse blended family with great teasing banter
🔥A lake, hot springs, a waterfall and lots of steam and heat
🤠Mystery of stolen gold from a stagecoach robbery

Lucy Score has written an incredible romance full of swoon, banter, laughs and so much heart!

House-flipper You-tuber, Maggie, takes on buying and renovating a big house in Idaho. Her controlling, workaholic ways are challenged by a handsome landscaper, Silas, who tells his brother Michael “…I heard wedding bells when I saw her for the first time.” Silas is a romantic who goes with his heart and loves his big family and so will you because who doesn’t love a family where razzing is the family’s second language. The swoon that Silas puts out is some of the best I have read and the walls Maggie puts up in order to avoid being vulnerable is both heartwarming and heart-wrenching.

There are so many fantastic supporting characters that will make you laugh and heart swell…Silas’ blended family of step-parents, siblings, found family, work friends, Colby, pets and Maggie’s past with loss, abandonment, neglect and discovery of truths. Lucy Score knows how to weave side characters into a story that readers fall in love with and surprise us with their stories.

My favorite part of this book and so many of Lucy Score’s books is that she gives us a little mystery buried in the romance!Maggie Moves On has the mystery of the prior owners of the Old Campbell Place and the mystery of a robbery of a stagecoach and the missing gold near the town of Kinship, Idaho.

I loved everything about this book. It is a MUST READ!!!

Lucy Score has done it again!! She has created a found family and community I want to be apart of!! This story has it all. A strong intelligent heroine, a sexy head over heels hero, funny scene stealing animals and loving supporting, loud friends that are family and a family thats the same. There is mystery, laughter, steam and heart. Maggie brings her DIY home renovation YouTube show to Kinship,Idaho to flip the Old Campbell Place. Only she wasn’t counting on Silas Wright and his pursuit to change her leaving ways. I cheered for them, laughed out loud and was pulled into the Old Campbell mystery before I knew it. My heart broke for Maggie and celebrated with her too. I highly recommend this stand alone HEA for anyone who enjoys heart, steam, humor and mystery with their romance

Lucy once again bring a host of wonderful characters to life in this story of Silas and Maggie. Two opposite personalities with a vision for an old mansion with lots of history and mystery. Another small town filled with great people who support each other. It was a fun adventure and another page turner. Silas was definitely the hot landscaper and so full of love and kindness. Keep them coming, Lucy. I received this arc for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Lucy Score does small town romance really well. This one had that perfect Hallmarky feel but without the cheesiness being cringy. It was cute and engaging and the supporting cast was fantastic

I also really enjoyed the demolition and HGTV feel in the house remodel. This is one is low angst, high humor and quirkiness and just all around solid.

Another wonderful and enjoyable read by Lucy Score. I really really enjoyed Maggie Moves On. The writing, of course as with all of Lucy’s books, was on point and amazing. I had so much fun reading this book and had a smile on my face the whole time. The banter between Maggie and Silas was *chef’s kiss* and I loved watching how all the relationships between all the characters grew. Lucy is the best at brining you into a small town world, in this instance into Kinship, and making you feel apart of the town and all the fun and quirky characters feel like family. I loved the town and its history, the characters, animals (Kevin) just the whole Kinship world. This was a great read and another reason why I love, read, and always come back to Lucy Score’s books.

I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley for my honest opinion and review. Thank you to Net Galley, the publisher, and to Lucy.

Holy moly, Maggie Moves On deserves at least 10 stars!! It seriously had all the feels! I have been watching home improvement shows non stop lately, so this was a perfect story for me! It was sassy, had the perfect hint of mystery, and was full of laughs!

Maggie was in Kinship, Idaho for her next house flip. She knew she needed to save the crumbling mansion as soon as she saw it was for sale. What she didn’t know was that the house wasn’t going to be easy on her. Luckily, she had put together a great team to help her, even if the landscaper was the biggest flirt ever. She decided to try to ignore it since she was going to be gone in a few months anyway.

Silas knew as soon as he saw her that they were meant to be, the only problem was convincing her of that! He had a few months to start breaking down her walls, but would it end up being enough?

I honestly don’t even know where to start with all the love I have for this book! The town, the people, the storyline, the pets…I loved all the side characters and loved getting updates on all of them in the epilogue! Lucy, you are a master at what you do! I can’t wait to see where you take us next!

I wanted to like this book but my irritation level was through the roof. I read romance for escapism, not to have an author hop onto a bully pulpit and make me feel like I've been repeatedly bashed over the head with a political agenda. Same sex couple? Check. I am woman hear me roar? Check. White privilege? Check. Share the wealth? Check. It just seemed to go on and on.

Remove the political agenda and this was a well-written book.

I received an ARC copy for a fair review.

This book will move you in ways you didn’t think were imaginable. It has all the components you’re searching for in a terrific read. The title alone has so many layers and meanings. It takes you on a journey that you are not expecting. It evokes questions of destiny, karma, and soul searching truth. Meanwhile, there’s quite the love story occurring in so many ways. As I said layers, so many layers. It’s romantic with just the right amount of heat, comedy and questions to be answered.

The cast of characters will evoke so many different emotions.
Silas will enchant you with his view of life, boyish charm and love of all things important to his view of the universe.
Maggie will delight and surprise you. She’s not to be taken lightly. Life has dealt with her not in the kindest of ways and has put her through the wringer. Through all this she has a heart of gold.
Cody will melt your heart.
Kevin, two words, pure joy. You will fall in love with Kevin!

The rest of the characters play pivotal roles in this journey, capturing not only your attention but your heart.

I’m in awe of the author’s ability to write dialogue and banter that is spot on heartwarming, witty and real. The story and plot is thought provoking and on point. I don’t know how she comes up with these ideas. There is so much depth and so many avenues to explore. It boggles my mind. Just when you think you know what you think she flips the angle and you can see it from a different point of view. That’s a good book!

As you can tell I loved this book and I think you will too.

Maggie may have moved on but I’m still stuck in Kinship, Idaho and am not ready to leave yet. Tell me where do I registered to become a permanent resident?

As soon as I finish posting this review, I’m rereading Maggie Moves On! I felt nervous starting this book. I have loved all of Lucy’s independently published books. I worriedly wondered if her voice would still sound the same with this one.

All that needless worrying…

I love the way Lucy loves her people. Both real and fictional. This is demonstrated by the little Easter eggs sprinkled throughout this book. Longtime readers will have fun discovering these hidden gems. And if this book is someone’s initial introduction to Lucy, it will surely be the one they come back to once they’ve gotten to know more about Lucy and her carefully crafted literary world.

One of Lucy’s superpowers is developing likable relatable perfectly imperfect characters. Everyone from Maggie and Silas, to Cody and Wallace, Dean, Dayana, even Kevin and his kittens are folks you’d want to spend time with and get to know better.

I will definitely be recommending and gifting this book when it is released. I understand this is a stand alone book. Lucy hit it out of the park once again with a tale that is sure to be well loved. I only wish this had been the first in a series because Kinship seems like it would be a cool place to revisit as each of the HEAs unfolds.

P.S. And I want to be Dean’s BFF so we can go find all the good gluten free eateries together!

I really enjoyed this story. Sexy Silas, or Sly Sy, falls immediately for youtube star house flipper, Maggie Nichols. He doesn’t care about her fame on the internet; in fact, he barely knows anything about social media. He just likes her take-charge attitude and the way she jumps right in to do the hard work to fix up the Victorian mansion she’s purchased in his small Idaho town. He’s a landscaper that she hires for her job. And it doesn’t hurt her youtube show to have a hot landscaper to highlight.

The book is rather long and basically every plot turn and bit of character development is hinted at earlier so there were no surprises. What makes this such an enjoyable read is that Silas is such a very nice guy and he is so deeply in love with Maggie, yet is willing to give her time and help her with her insecurities. He made the perfect book boyfriend.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I know I'm in the minority and it's physically paining me to give my first unhappy review for Lucy Score. I am a BRA. I am team Lucy all the way. She has my undying loyalty. But Maggie Moves On did not do it for me.

What I liked about the book:
1. Silas falls in love first. It's definitely nice to see the role reversed in a love story.

2. I love that Lucy always includes a loveable animal in most of her stories. Kevin is fantastic! Especially having picked his own name. One cool doggo.

3. I love Silas' family dynamics. They really show the most beautiful way a blended family can work so well together. And Michael is hilarious. This is honestly the best part of this book and is what kept me reading through to the end.

4. It's a Lucy Score book, so the steam was good.

5. I'M SORRY! Was that a Kait Nolan reference???? Is Kathryn Nolan, scooter daredevil at Wallace's senior home, based on Lucy's writing friend Kait Nolan???

What I didn't like about this book:
1. Something is missing. Lucy's books are usually long, but they never drag and they are always good and full of sparkly personality. I did not get any of that from this book. WTF happened? This is my least favorite Lucy Score title to date.

2. The only things I can connect with Maggie on: I too have a thing for fry sauce and men who can rock backwards ball caps. Otherwise, she bugs me.

Silas also bugs me. I'm never one to turn down an alpha, and I love the idea of being tossed over a guys shoulder and told to sit my ass down and listen (despite my raging feminist viewpoint), HOWEVER, something did not click here. He just came across as an ass that I definitely would have humped and dumped.

3. Instead of an epilogue to show where people were later, it was all forced into a couple of non-cohesive paragraphs. It was a super letdown even though it was tied up in a nice bow.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for free. The review above is reflective of my honest opinions.

3 lets-move-on stars.
