A rare full on 5 stars from me. Where has Lucy Score been all my adult reading life??

Maggie is a youtube sensation flipping houses.
Dean is her right hand man helping with the business.
Silas is a hot landscaper working on Maggie's latest house.

Maggie is already a delight, but Silas is such a charmer that he was able to bring even more delightfulness out of her. He could charm the pants off a mannequin. Every single character was lovable and I especially loved the mischief Kevin! he's so adorable. Anyone would be lucky to have a BFF like Dean. Wallace was a perfectly named grumpy old man. Cody just needed someone to show him some support and I'm so glad he got it. Silas's extended family was a great addition to the story.

I love that it was told in 3rd person following Maggie and Silas.
Although it was love at first sight for Silas, it was a bit of a slow burn as Maggie took too long for me to figure out what she wanted. Their chemistry was on fire and luckily we didn't have to wait a terribly lengthy amount of time for the steamage. It wrapped up as perfectly perfect as I knew it would. The mystery behind the house was fun to read about too.

I was able to listen to the final version on audio as well, so I went back and forth reading and listening. Ultimately both ways were wonderful. Emma Wilder did a lovely job narrating for 13 hours and 41 minutes, easy to follow at 2x. She had lovely male voices too.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I struggle on trying to finish this book because I'm having a hard time connecting with the characters in the story.

This was another fabulous book by Mrs. Score. Maggie is the perfect mix of sassy and smart, while Silas is both swoon worthy and sweet. This book is the perfect mix of hilarity, heat, and heart. With a town we all wish we could visit, a mystery we all want to solve, a love we all want to find, and the dog we we all can’t help but love. Fantastic read

This book had the sweetest vibes from the very first page and you just knew that Silas and Maggie are going to have a wonderful romance. Maggie is a youtuber who posts renovations and she wants her latest project to be the one that gets her a million followers, so when Maggie arrives in Idaho to renovate The Old Campbell Place mansion she is ready to get to work. Right away she notices Silas, the landscaper and knows she could fall in love, but unfortunately she does not mix business and pleasure. I loved watching their chemistry and them to fall in love throughout this book. If you love HGTV, this one was so fun!

I enjoyed this book very much. I liked the pacing and writing style. The secondary characters were great and really added to the story and helped it progress.

At times Silas got on my nerves with how direct he was and he seemed pushy at times when it came to their relationship as a couple. I liked Maggie and her personality was similar to mine. I enjoyed their journey together, but do think they moved a bit fast relationship wise (ending of the book only). I liked how Silas encouraged Maggie to go outside her comfort zone, try new things, plant roots, make friends, etc.

I think most of all I loved envisioning this house on the Hill that Maggie was renovating and the treasures found within. The house was one of the main characters because it brought everyone together and was where so many things transformed. I loved the idea of found family and how these random people grew to care for each other.

This was a pretty good book. The writing was mostly very good (except during the “spicy” scenes, which I found pretty cheesy). I didn’t love the “insta-love” on his part, but I did appreciate how open about his feelings he was. I didn’t appreciate his caveman attitude closer to the beginning after she scares off harmless intruders…especially that he’s insisting she apologize to him for it. The attitude about relationships…..in that “ There isn’t much comfortable about relationships, not if it’s a good one at least.” is pretty wrong-headed. It’s the attitude of a fun book maybe, but not real life. I enjoyed the story overall, but wish it had been maybe 25% shorter. It ended up seeming very long.
Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for providing me access to this eARC for my honest opinion!

I thought this book was great! I wish I had Silas as my landscaper!! His character was so hot! I love HGTV, so it was fun reading a rom-com with the remodeling theme.

Do you believe in signs? Maggie didn’t when she bought the old Campbell place to flip. But then she met the Hot Landscaper who is very confident and who tells her the first time they meet that they will end up together. Their relationship is not even close to simple and Maggie tells him from the beginning that she will be leaving when they are done remodeling the old Campbells house. But Sy believes in all the signs he’s been seeing that she will decide to stay.

I absolutely adored Maggie and Sy’s relationship. The way Sy just slide into her life without a care in the world and stayed just the way he knew he would. Such a fun loving story!

This book was so fun. I love the twist on the current trend of home renovation shows and loved how it talked about all of the work needed to run your own show. The aspect of friends/former spouses/current coworkers doing this together was interesting and a refreshing change.

This also does a great job with the smalltown romance feel as well. Seeing how all of the citizens band together to help each other and not having the out of towner look down on them was great to see.

The romance here felt very natural. Instant attraction but not instant love is just perfect. There was also just the right amount of waiting to get together to where you got to enjoy the anticipation but weren't screaming in frustration for them to just kiss already.

I really liked the plot and setting of this book but I feel like it would have been better if it was shorter. I liked all the characters except for Silas and since he was one of the MCs it kind of ruined it for me. He was way to cocky and bossy for me. I will still try another book by this author though.

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I was hooked from the first few chapters when we first meet Kevin, the dog. I already knew then just from his escapades that it would be a 5 star read for me, and it was.

I loved the found family and found hometown aspect of this book and that there was also a little bit of a mystery thrown in.

This will definitely not be my last Lucy Score.

I thought the premise of this book sounded so good, and I'm happy to write that I was not disappointed! Maggie and Silas were great main characters, and I loved the supporting cast as well! Overall, I would definitely recommend!

I received an e-ARC from the publisher.

Like all stories from this author (read them ALL), this is hilarious. With a dash of spicy, and a little situationship drama, this, should be an HGTV special on Lifetime, the story catches your heart. I loved everything about this story. 10/10 Recommend.

Thanks to the ARC provided by Forever, an imprint of Grand Central Publishing with the help of NetGalley (all opinions are my own.) As Maggie Moves On opens, Maggie Nichols, a house flipper who capitalizes on her craft by sharing the stories of her homes with her nearly 1M YouTube subscribers, is moving on to a new project. She’s just finished an amazing beach house and is now in Western Idaho to rehab a dilapidated showplace that’s over a century old. Enter Silas, the owner of a local landscaping business that Maggie’s business partner Dean called in for a scope of work and price estimate. I don’t want to say more about the plot other than this is a steamy, open door romance full of colorful language, snark, and a bit of a mystery. Maggie Nichols is not the first home renovations specialist that U have experienced through the writing of Ms. Lucy Score, and I love the way she writes their journeys. As an investor focused Realtor it’s great to see my profession represented in the fictional books I read. My favorite part of Maggie’s journey in Kinship, Idaho, however, is how she comes to find family while she’s renovating the old house and researching their story to bring provenance to the house for her show and the town. Maggie Moves On is a five-star reviewed book! Especially because it’s about an old house and I love them! I didn’t even mention about how it’s a grumpy and sunshine couple, but it’s gender swapped, because Maggie is the cynical, anti-relationship grump and Silas is all-in on her being his future wife from the first moment he sees her. Plus, we’re not saying anything about the underlying mystery that is slowly revealed during the renovations, and that mystery is my jam. Go. Read. This. Book. I’m thinking about buying copies for my mastermind ladies as gifts during our real estate conference next week. And one for my shelf, too!

4.5 Stars

I so enjoyed this book! It had similar vibes to Mr. Fixer Upper by Lucy Score - another book that I loved so much. I also loved that Silas fell in love first. It's one of the most underrated traits in a romance book and one that if I find out that is in the book, I'm so much more likely to pick it up. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the length. It felt drawn out but I still really, really loved it.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this.

I have mixed feelings on this book., I think that Lucy Score was very good at writing the relationship, and the premise was fun. But unfortunately the rest of this fell a little flat. I felt there was too many side stories, and it pulled away from what was a solid love story. One or two side stories (Connor & David primarily) would be fine. But the treasure hunt, the half sister, the last second NDA dad, and the grumpy old man were too many storylines. And the ending with all of their HEA's like the end of a legally blonde movie was slightly tacky, because it wasn't what the story was about. Had some of this fat been trimmed during the editing process, this would have been a 4 or 5 star book. Unfortunately it just too much.

“BUT THE HOUSE? WELL, THERE WAS MAGIC HERE ON THIS BLUFF. SHE COULD FEEL IT SHIMMERING JUST BENEATH LAYERS OF ROTTING WOOD AND WHAT WAS MOST LIKELY LEAD PAINT. LIKE A BURIED TREASURE WAITING TO BE UNEARTHED.”
If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading a Lucy Score book yet, then Maggie Moves On should be at the tippy top of your “must read” list. Equal parts steamy romance, laugh out loud comedy, and feel good-find your roots storyline, Maggie Moves On has the distinction of being my new absolute favorite book written by Lucy Score—a feat indeed.

Maggie Moves On starts out innocuously enough. Maggie Nichols is a YouTube sensation known for her home renovations that transforms dilapidated dumps to a dream home while taking viewers on a journey with each newly released episode. With partner, ex-husband, and best friend Dean (who I can only picture as David from ‘Schitt’s Creek’) right by her side, Maggie rolls into Kinship, Idaho, with her eyes set transforming the once glorious Campbell home back into the beauty it was over a century before. Looking for local contractors to help aid in this renovation, Maggie meets Silas Wright and his goofy, ice cream loving, kleptomaniac of a dog, Kevin. Right away Silas’ outgoing and positive attitude reminded me so much of Ted Lasso that I was immediately smitten with his over-the-top charm and outrageous flirting.

“SHE NEEDED TO BE A HELL OF A LOT MORE CAREFUL WHERE SILAS WRIGHT WAS CONCERNED. THE MAN COULD CHARM HIS WAY INTO PLACES HE HAD NO RIGHT BEING. INCLUDING HER PANTS.”
The biggest part of the overall plot of Maggie Moves On is Maggie’s insistence that her project here in Kinship is just like any other job she’s taken, yet she sets roots with each day that passes. Her formula is simple, and Maggie always moves on to the next job. Seeing Maggie blossom under careful ministrations of Silas’ friends and family and helping solve a mystery surrounding lost gold with the town’s curmudgeonly historian won my heart over with each page. You can imagine how meticulous and fact-driven Maggie reacts when confronted with the notion that her time in Kinship isn’t as temporary as she’s lead herself to believe.

What I loved most is that Maggie surrounds herself with a found family in Kinship. Her stepsister and nephew, to a down on his luck teenager, a pair of kittens, the surly historian, as well as Silas and Kevin. By the end of Maggie Moves On, the Campbell home has been filled with people whom Maggie adores. It reminds me so much of that wonderful scene from ‘Under the Tuscan Sun’ when Frances is reminded that every single thing she had wished for herself had come true for the people around her, and her joy was being able to bask in a house full of the people she loves most—which is exactly what Maggie needed too.

“HE LOOKED LIKE HE BELONGED HERE UNDER THE WATERFALL IN THE WILD. AND FOR ONCE, MAGGIE FELT LIKE SHE MIGHT BELONG, TOO.”
Between the bittersweet nods to the mother Maggie lost when she needed her the most, to a beautiful and poignant reconciliation with her estranged father, Maggie Moves On made me cry happy tears. Lucy Score has written a romance with depth, one that comes with comedic relief, a large happy family, and a happily ever after that would warm the cockles of any surly curmudgeon.

If you can’t tell, I loved this book. This is your cue to go and purchase your own copy of Maggie Moves On, which is available on all platforms and retailers as today is release day! Go get your copy and then come and tell me your thoughts. I hope Lucy Score celebrates with a bouquet of tacos and lots of love from her readers such as myself.

As a huge Lucy Score fangirl, it breaks my heart that I didn’t love this book. As is often the case, I enjoyed the side characters and most of the story. Especially the historical mystery. As someone who doesn’t care for renovation shows, I spaced out during much of those details. I loved “Mr. Fixer Upper” and “The Christmas Fix”, so I was surprised that this one didn’t grab my attention as well.

“Maggie Moves On” is supposed to be a romance. Unfortunately, this one didn’t land for me. Honestly? I could not stand Silas. He was way too pushy, never taking no for an answer. He basically forced Maggie into a relationship and picked fights with her over things that were absolutely none of his business. Maggie made things clear from the beginning that she just wanted a fun time, but Silas refused to respect any of her clear boundaries. I don’t even have the words for the kayak incident. Let’s just say that love is the last thing I would’ve been feeling if someone had done that to me. Maggie herself was a decent character. My only issue with her was that she let Silas wear her down and get his way. If I was her friend I would have told her to run away from that man as fast as she could. I will always read Lucy Score’s books. But probably won’t reread this one.

Maggie Moves On is definitely a Lucy Score book full of quirky characters, some angst and humor.
Maggie has built an on-line audience buying and rehabbing houses. Her new project is in Kinship, Idaho, an old Victorian called The Old Campbell house.
Maggie has kept herself busy but not really living, besides her right hand man who’s also her ex-husband and maybe an occasional fling her work is her life….until
The Old Campbell house brings so much, a may be Mr Right named Mr Wright who decides on first sight she’ll be Mrs Wright, a mystery of missing gold from a stage coach robbery and so much history of the Campbells oh and of course the house, this one may be harder to say goodbye too!
I absolutely loved this book and really couldn’t put it down.
-5 Stars-
