5 Stars for this cute fun romance!

This book had me laughing-out-loud! I just loved Cooper and Nora ... they are perfect for each other even though they don't know it. Cooper is sweet ... the way he takes care of his parents when all they want is for him to find someone and be happy. Nora works hard at the family bakery and with long hours she doesn't have time for a relationship, but one night ... yeah, she can handle that. Cooper's parents were a hoot ... "being his wingmen" ... still makes me laugh. I was glad to hear that their story continues in "The Reunion" because this book was way too short and I know there is so much more to their story. I can't wait!

“The One Night” gives us a glimpse into Meghan Quinn’s book “The Reunion” which will be published in February 2022. Cooper’s parents think he should re-enter the dating world after his divorce and decided to accompany him for a night on the town. Which really meant a quick drink at a popular, but seedy bar in Seattle. His parents, who were dressed in their favorite Christmas sweaters, immediately saw a familiar face as they sat down at their table. What a surprise that a family friend was also out that night enjoying a holiday libation. Nora owns a popular bakery and creates delicious and beautiful cakes for all occasions. Cooper never realized how gorgeous and funny Nora was and he found himself enjoying their non-date immensely. With his parents safely back at his apartment he eagerly agreed to join Nora for a late night snack and more conversation. Cooper and Nora knew they were treading on thin ice when it came to their flirtatious behavior over their plate of nachos. They forgot about the real reason they could never be more than friends but the holidays always bring people together so what could be so wrong with a little Christmas fun?

I didn't know going into this book that it was a novella - that being said, it was still a good story, BUT it ends with a cliffhanger (I think? there wasn't a mention of a follow-up or continuation so I'm not 100% sure...)

Cooper is a year out from his divorce and almost ready to start dating again - until his parents decide they want to set him up. They generously offer to be his "wingmen" and go bar hopping with him. Understandably Cooper is not thrilled.

Nora is happily single and not looking to settle down. She's more than surprised to run into her childhood friend and his parents out bar hopping one night. She and Cooper begin to reconnect, overlooking one tiny detail: Nora is best friends with Cooper's ex. This could be a recipe for disaster.

This novella was full of the typical fun, saucy, and steamy romance Meghan Quinn is known for. My only complaint is.... what happens next?!

This novella was drenched in Meghan Quinn's signature hoot-and-a-half humor! I had zero expectations as what to expect with this short tale, and was surprised by the abrupt ending with zero resolution until I saw that this couple's story will be continued in the upcoming release The Reunion. I'm eagerly anticipating more of Coop and Nora, plus his family's antics in February.

The One Night was a great novella and lead up to the novel The Reunion which is releasing next year. This is Cooper and Nora’s beginning of something more. Nora is Cooper’s ex wife’s best friend and has known him for years. This time around they get to know one another on a deeper and intimate level and his parents plays a role in their meeting. The familiarity and connection is there and I feel there was laid a solid foundation for the upcoming book The Reunion.
Cooper’s family is introduced too along with Nora’s and I’m excited to get to know them more.
The One Night doesn’t end with a HEA. I know I’ll get it in The Reunion. This novella was a great starter and I’m excited to get the main course. Overall a good read.

This was a short and fantastic read. I enjoyed this book! I already loved Meghan’s writing style. Her romance books are well written.

A holiday hook-up novella. I loved the funny premise - where Cooper takes his parents to a Seattle dive bar and they are determined to find him a woman. What actually happens is they all run into his ex-wife's best friend Nora. Cooper and Nora end up having an epic one night stand but then the story ends on an unsatisfying cliffhanger! I really hope Cooper and Nora will be getting their own full-length romance novel. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this holiday snack from a much-loved romance novelist!

This quick prequel is a great set up for The Reunion! I love Meghan Quinn and her writing. She knows how to write the best secondary characters. One thing with her writing that I love is that she writes such relatable moments and quotes that just make you laugh.

This Cooper Chance is not looking to put himself out there again after his divorce, but his parents are. They want him to start to date again and they want to help. Nora is a hardworking baker who needs to unwind after a long day at work. But when their paths cross again, there is an undeniable connection.

This is a very fast read because it is just a set up for what happens in the next book, but it is the perfect to set you up and make you excited to read The Reunion.

This was a short book that precedes her new book The Reunion. It is the story of Cooper and Nora's one night together and their history that brings them to that point. I'm sure their story will pick back up in the new book.

When receiving this book I honestly had no idea it was either a novella or a Christmas story, I was initially intrigued by the tropes (one night stand / best friends ex) but I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy this holiday rom-com.

It begins with introducing Cooper's parents who are trying their hardest to get their son back in the dating game by finding him a partner, he’s surprised when it turns out to be his family friend Nora who he’s known most of his life. What complicates things slightly is she is also his ex wife’s best friend.

There is great chemistry between them from the get go, which meant the rom-com to spicy scenes flowed extremely naturally.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and would recommend it however I personally don’t think it’s up there with Meghan’s best work. Since this is a prequel novella to a follow up book, I will be picking it up on its release.

BRIEF SUMMARY
Cooper Chance, divorced, non-fiction editor, whose meddling parents decides to be his wingmen one night at a dive bar in Seattle area. Maybe it was fate or doom that the only female in the bar was Nora McHale, a baker and happens to be the best friend of Cooper’s ex-wife. They connected. So should they act on their mutual attraction or wait till the ex-wife is ok with it? That is the conundrum.


My Thoughts:
A really quick read. The entire book was exactly what it was titled. All events happened on one fateful night. Majority of the content were the bantering between parents and their children or the two protagonists. Sometimes funny, sad, or annoying.

As I was nearing the end, I thought the author was going to leave it unresolved but she didn’t. It was kind of self-explanatory yet leaving the rest to your imagination.

This fun and flirty little diddy features a feisty baker and a debbie downer who can't get over his divorce and the feeling of being the family 'loser.' This quick read is a kinda like a prologue for another book/series. She is sassy and isn't afraid to speak the truth, even it if hurts. He is a bit down in the dumps, but his parents try their best to make him happy, which of course they think will come in the form of a lady. So what do they do, but offer themselves to be his wingmen. So yeah... there are laughs involved. There is also a little bit of sexy times. Great fun characters. This is a novella/short story and doesn't have you're typical happy ending... at least not yet. It ends in a cliff hanger of sorts... nothing that will leave you reeling, but more of an open ending. Though you will want to know what happens in the future with these two. It alternates between POVs. There is a tiny amount of sexual content, nothing too graphic.

The One Night was a fun, quick read following a man who unexpectedly shares a night with his ex-wife's best friend.

Cooper Chance has avoided dating since his divorce was recently finalized which has his parents concerned he's going to end up alone. In an effort to help Cooper, his parents insist on playing his wingmen and take him to a bar in the hopes he meets someone. Cooper is skeptical of their plan but then they run into Nora McHale. Cooper and Nora immediately hit it off but can there really be a future between them when Nora is best friends with Cooper's ex-wife?

The One Night serves as a prequel to the author's upcoming book, The Reunion. The Reunion will follow all three of the Chance siblings as they come together for their parents' fiftieth wedding anniversary and find love along the way. The One Night sets up the background for Cooper's romance in that book which will be between him and Nora.

The premise of this novella sounded so fun that I immediately wanted to pick it up. I was curious to know how the whole parents as wingmen thing would go and I will say it doesn't disappoint. Cooper and Nora have known each other most of their lives as their families were friends when they were growing up. I liked that they had that connection beyond Nora just being the best friend of Cooper's ex-wife as that made a potential romance between them make more sense. There's a lot of great banter between the two throughout the night before they make their way back to Nora's apartment. The chemistry between them was fantastic and the steamy scenes were fantastically done. I will say I didn't love the way the story ended as Cooper unnecessarily messed things up and I'm curious how that will be resolved in The Reunion.

Overall The One Night was an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to picking up The Reunion when it releases next year.

This is only the first part of the book so cliff hanger haters, this book is not for you.

While I did find it funny, the comedic moments for me was with Cooper’s parents. I loved all the scenes with his parents. As to the romance between Cooper and Nora, I felt that was forced. Nora’s best friend, Dealia, is Cooper’s ex-wife. Given that Nora and Dealia are/were best friends, it would seem that Nora would be more involved in Dealia’s life, and by extension Cooper’s life. But there seemed to be a disconnect between Nora and Cooper. It does get steamy between them and then it stops.
This was not a favorite read by this author.

The One Night by Meghan Quinn was a fun novella featuring a character from her book The Reunion releasing in early 2022. It was a fun story about throwing caution to the wind and taking a chance to do what you want. Cooper is getting over a divorce. Nora owns the bakery in town but is also Cooper’s ex-wife’s friend. They hit it off after Cooper’s parents take him out for a night on the town. After a one night stand, what will or can happen?
This was the perfect tease for The Reunion and an introduction to this fun, romantic story. I enjoyed getting to know some of the characters and this set up for the next book.

This was a quick little novella that precedes The Reunion and was a fun read that I enjoyed from start to finish.

In this quick read, we get the events that occurred between Nora and Cooper that led up to how the pair were with each other in The Reunion. It also was a tease for that book leaving me wanting more for this pair all while getting a little feel for how zany Cooper's family is as well.

This little tease is a great read and a great lead up to The Reunion that I recommend to others.

The One Night is the prequel novella to Ms. Quinn's upcoming release, The Reunion, and it introduces us to the Chance siblings (and their parents who are a hoot!) The focus of this novella is more on Cooper Chance and Nora, his ex-wife's best friend. It has a charming, Christmasy feel to it -- I felt like I was in the middle of a snow globe experiencing all the sights and sounds and smells of the holiday. The One Night was a cute holiday themed novella that focused around Cooper and Nora. It involves meddling parents, one night stands, and friend's to lovers. I loved reading from both point of views and seeing how each person was handling the transition from family friends to lovers. It was flirty, cute and fun. The entire premise of this novella makes me want more as I wanted to further watch these characters grow and realize that even though there might be things standing in their way, if it's really meant to be, it'll be.

But the biggest fact that this left off on a cliffhanger makes me want more! I'm pleasantly pleased to learn that there will be more in an upcoming Meghan Quinn release this year, and will make sure to follow up.

I loved this novella! I started reading Meghan Quinn’s books this year and let me just say she is one of my favorite authors now! Her books are always hilarious and full of steamy scenes.
I loved that The One Night is centered around Christmas without being a Hallmark holiday romance. This novella has the perfect amount of funniness with steam and enough backstory to make you fall for the hero and heroine. I liked that Cooper is trying to find himself again in the world. I think he’s very relatable as everyone goes through life at some point lost and needs to find themselves.
I also need to say how much I am in love with Cooper’s parents. Their support for Cooper finding a lady friend as they put it went above and beyond! I found myself cracking up endlessly at every scene they were in!

Cooper is recently divorced and his parents feel like he is not getting out enough. So they decide to take him out on the town to try to meet someone new. It was hilarious seeing the lengths they would go to in order to help him out. The first person they try to set him up with happens to be an old family friend and the best friend of his ex-wife, Nora.

Nora and Cooper surprisingly hit it off and have a lot of chemistry. They did seem really well matched, but of course there is the issue of her being friends with his ex-wife. After the ending of the novella. I cannot wait to see what happens between them in the next book. We also get to meet Cooper's siblings and learn a little about their lives. I'm hoping we get to know more about them in the next book as well.

This story does not end in an HEA but it does set up the next book nicely.
