This a poignant, heartwarming and tender romance. After the death of her military husband, Kit has lived her life in a fog of grief. Now it is time to reclaim her life and move forward. This includes finishing her degree and finding a good job that will support her and her sweet young son, Oliver (Ollie), comfortably. That will be possible if she can sell the old Victorian house in Seashell Harbor that was her husband’s legacy. With the help of her husband’s friend, Alex, Kit will renovate the rather dilapidated house while also giving her son a summer to remember in picturesque Seashell Harbor. She doesn’t anticipate the rapport and connection that Alex builds with Ollie or the sense of healing and connection that she also feels with Alex around. Gradually, both mother and son begin to heal, become more confident and willing to explore new things and emotions. All aware that their time together has an end date, but all begin to wish for time to slow or stop so that they can be together. But time doesn’t stop or slow, uncertainties and doubts creep in and memories and grief still linger. Moving forward sometimes means letting the past go and opening your heart to both love and pain. Are Kit and Alex ready to do so?

I found this book to be captivating, emotional and memorable. I fell in love with Kit, Alex and little Ollie. They are all such wonderful and fascinating characters that evoked so much empathy and compassion. Their story is one I will be recommending and rereading. I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Sea Glass summer is the second book in the Seashell Harbor series.

A series that concentrate on three friends that have a very strong feeling about a ring they will las on to each other after they find love.

Kit Blakemore is a widow, a single mother, and a woman redoing her life by going back to school and getting her own place.

When her army husband passed away, she inherited a beautiful old house on the beach and her plan was to bring it back to life and remodel at its old beauty.

In comes her husband's best friend, who will help her with this big project. He always had a soft spot for Kit but stepped back and now it's his chance to make sure she knows how he feels.

The story unfolds easily, with many moments where I felt sad for Kit and her son, Oliver, who's a real show stealer.

With insightful interactions and delightful first butterflies of a second chance at love and a new start in life, their romance is nowhere near easy or perfect, but that's what makes it more reliable and beautiful.

There are doubts, there are moments of frustration, but as always, love wins over all the obstacles.

A perfect summer read for any romantic lovers.

I love this story. What Kit had to do through was horrible, but unfortunately so many folks have had to go through the same situations. What Alex had to overcome was just as traumatic, and unfortunately again very much life like. I was right there with them. I loved reading about the two of them and how they dealt with their ups and downs. Who wouldn’t love Ollie? I just want to hang out with him and maybe read a book or five. These friends and their stories are wonderful. I didn’t want to stop reading about them. I want to go hang out with them some more. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

This was such a touching story that filled me with love and hope.  It even brought happy tears at one point.  I liked the characters so much.  Kit was a single mom to cute, five year old Ollie.  She was at a crossroads in her life needing to move on from the death of her husband, Carson, but not sure how to do that.Alex also needed to move on from Carson's death.  They were best friends and in the Air Force together.  He suffered from guilt over his friend's death.I enjoyed how the neglected house that Carson inherited brought Alex and Kit together and healed them both in their own way.  It was an emotional  story of hope, romance, friendship, and love.  I think this is one of Miranda's best books!  I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

After Kit lost her military husband in battle, she has been raising her son, Ollie, alone. Sure, her parents and friends are there to support her, but Kit feels the responsibility is all hers to carry out her husband's legacy. Included in that legacy is a house in Seashell Harbor that they bought and intended to renovate into their family's home. Nothing has been done to the house since Carson's death, and it was in disrepair then.

Alex feels a debt to Carson's family. Alex was sick the day Carson died, in fact, he feels he should have been the one to die instead of Carson. He decides that the best way to repay his debt is to renovate the house into Carson's dream, but Kit isn't happy about it.

I enjoyed reading about Kit's growth from grief to happiness. She finds her own path with Ollie, moves out of her parents' house, returns to college and maybe finds a way to open her heart.

This book is the second in the series, but can be read as a stand-alone. It is PG rated, nothing graphic, just suggestive. Small town, second chance romance at the seashore, what more could you want?

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Sea Glass Summer by Miranda Liasson, book two in her Seashell Harbor series is a wonderful, emotional tale of a military wife, now widow raising her little boy, with the help and support of her parents and girlfriends. Kit is a single mom whose husband died in combat when their son was just a toddler. Her husband, Carson, left her a house that is in need of so much work that she’s overwhelmed, which is putting it mildly. When she sees Alex de la Cruz, her husband’s best friend, has return to Seashell Harbor she’s shocked, surprised and doesn’t want his help in restoring the house so it can sell quicker. Alex promised his brother in arms to watch out for his family. He finds himself helping her renovate a home that belonged to his best friend Carson. He blames himself that he isn’t here with his wife and his son Ollie. Kit’s not so sure it’s a good idea to accept Alex’s help; she has plans for herself, her son Ollie, and their future. And they don’t include Alex. One innocent kiss leads to so much more, but she doesn’t trust herself. Alex has to keep his distance, and not let Kit know how he feels about her. At least he tries to keep that distance. But that kiss changed everything for him. He’s loved her for so long. Now, all Alex has to do is try to convince Kit to give him a chance. A chance to love her. A chance to help her. A chance to be her future and forever love.

Oliver added so many layers and depth to the story.. The way in which Alex interacted with him would have broken through the walls thrown up by anyone. Kit didn't stand a chance, despite almost sabotaged the relationship. Alex's guilt was enough to have him ready to abandon the relationship multiple times, but the feelings, chemistry and magnetic attraction were simply too strong. Watching them trying to work things out was painful at times, but so worth it in the end.

Ms. Liasson wrote a romance with all the feels, that was sweet, emotional, electrifying, and should not be missed. She provided a tale, filled with clever banter, good intentions, and a cast of secondary characters assisting Kit and Alex find the love they both deserved and create a family with Ollie. I highly recommend Sea Glass Summer to other readers and look forward to Darla’s romance.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Love by proxy; heartache; passion; like a phoenix; get your tissues!
Oh. My. Word! I devoured this book once I began reading it. This story of love and loss will break your heart but wait for it…love conquers all!
Kit Blakemore has decided that for herself and her 5yo son Ollie she needs to start living again. The tragic death of her husband Carson has monopolized her life for two long years. The “ball and chain” aka the McKinnon House that Carson inherited is dilapidated and is 35yo Kit’s ticket to a future but trying to figure out how to go about fixing it up is beyond her. Ironically her future in that house may become true.
One day she goes to check out the house and finds Carson’s BFF, 35yo Alex de la Cruz working on HER house! What?! Alex hates her even though he obviously loved Carson. After some soul searching, Kit and Carson begrudgingly come to an understanding about the house. For Carson Alex will renovate it to the point where it can be sold and he’ll move on. What happens when Alex becomes more important to Ollie or Kit than she expected? Can she let him in? The revelations will astound you. The pain is palpable but the chemistry between Alex and Kit is magnetic. Ollie is adorable. You will find that Carson is a de facto cast member of this beautiful story. Lovely prose, witty humor, so good!
If you want your romance to have acceptable angst, witty humor, poignant moments (lots of those) and friends that everyone would love to have, read this book. This is a 10-Star story. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through NetGalley and highly recommend it.

I was happy to revisit the small town of Seashell Harbor in this second book of the series. The series is focused on three friends and with a nod to Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants each friend takes a turn at wearing an old family ring. When they wear the ring it is their turn for romance. Kit Blakemore’s life has been on hold. When her husband dies while serving in the military she let her parents take care of her and her son Oliver. Now she is ready to make changes. She moves to her own place, tries to learn t-ball for her son and is returning to college to finish her degree. Her husbands best friend returns to town with a plan. Kit has inherited her husbands dilapidated Victorian house. If he can help her remodel it and get it sold it will fulfill his promise to help care of his friend's wife and son. Of course he never told Kit that he had feelings for her too.

Miranda Liasson writes kind characters with friends that are there for one another. I think she is also one of the better writers for closed door romances. You get the sizzling passion and even snuggling in bed talking without anything graphic. Oliver is an endearing child and the pets are an added bonus. I’m enjoying the series and am looking forward to Darla’s romance in the future. Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love when you read a book and when you are done you can't wait for the next one because you wanted to know what happened to the characters. That's what happened with this series. I couldn't wait for the next book. I still can't wait for the next one.

My heart broke for Kit. You really felt her pain throughout the story. She really missed her husband and was having trouble moving on. I felt she just needed someone else in her life to realize it was okay to keep living.

Kit found that in Alex.

I really enjoyed Sea Glass Summer. It's full of warmth, love, and humor. Right away I found myself falling in love with the people of this story. Kit isn't the only one with issues with her husband's death. Alex isn't doing any better with it. He has such guilt from both his friend's death and the fact that he always loved his friend's wife. What a web.

As a whole, this is a wonderful story. The romance between Kit and Alex is slow-building so you really get to know them as people before they get together. You'll find that Kit is a great mom who works so hard to do the best for her kid and make up for the fact that his father has passed. I was a little surprised that on how her parents treated her about moving out. Not badly, just like a child. As the book went on everything became clear.

Alex spends most of the book helping out Kit and trying to keep his hands off her. So many times I wanted to yell at him to act! Finally, they get together but it's not smooth going. Issues come up and I think it's because of Kit's guilt. She used anything she could find to not be happy. Finally, it all worked out

I will say I wish I had a bit more of them being together. I understand the book needed all the other stuff going on to tell the story but I think they needed more happy time for us to see. I'm hoping we'll see it in the next book. I'm looking forward to the next story in the series. Can't wait to see what happens. You'll find Sea Glass Summer a pleasure to read. A great poolside story.

I truly enjoyed this author’s writing style. This was a sweet small town romance. It dealt with grief, loss, and finding yourself and love again. I think this book is great for all romance readers as the writing was good and the story was captivating. There were a few awkward moments that come with jumping back into dating as a single mother who lost the love of her life unexpectedly. But overall a truly cute story!

Miranda Liasson is one of my go-to's for small-town romance when I'm in the mood, since most aren't a good fir for me. She always has a great setting full of the meddling characters you love. Sea Glass Summer was no different with a really sweet story at the heart. There were just a few times that were a bit cringey with some awkward lines that had me liking this one more than loving. Looking forward to the next book in the series, though!

This is a story about letting go of the past & starting over. I loved the characters of Kit and Alex, who each were dealing with their own issues of loss, guilt and regret. Kit has moved home with her son Ollie, after the death of her military husband. Alex has come to town with a goal. Although the 2 have never gotten along, they come up with a plan to renovate the old Victorian that Kit needs to sell to make a life for herself & Ollie. As the days go by, the house is not the only thing that changes!

Sea Glass Summer
Miranda Liasson
June 28, 2022

This story is Liasson’s latest in her Seashell Harbor series. It features Kit Blakemore, widowed wife of Carson Blakemore. He was a fighter pilot that never came home. Their young son, Oliver just turned 5, the summer before he started kindergarten. It was his first try at t-ball and he discovered it really wasn’t as much fun as it looked. To top it off all the dads sat on the bench helping and cheering. Ollie had no father to accompany him. Kit did her best with the help of her best friends, Darla and Hadley along with their beaus but he just could not get the hang of it. Her parents would always attend but neither was good at teaching him the skills he needed. Kit lived with her folks in their big house ever since Carson had passed. She kept all of his letters and when things got rough she re-read them over and over.
Back comes Alex, Carson’s best friend all of their lives. They were in the Air Force together. He knew that when Carson’s grandparents died and left him their big house near the ocean, what he had intended was to rebuild so he, Kit and Ollie could live there. Alex decided that this summer right before he took the exam to become an attorney he would study evenings and work on the house. His biggest job would be to convince Kit to allow him to do that as they were not close friends at all.
Liaison’s sequel to Coming Home to Seashell Harbor was such a heartwarming book. What Alex had decided to do for Carson was such a wonderful thing. He felt that Kit could sell the home, finish her degree, and perhaps buy a home for her and Ollie. I was so involved with their story. At times my heart broke for her. Such a challenge to raise a child, work to pay bills, and try to continue on with her degree. I truly enjoyed Sea Glass Summer from start to finish. It will be published by Forever Books on June 28, 2022. I appreciate their allowing me to read and review Sea Glass Summer via NetGalley and Liasson’s team.
For those who have read Coming Home to Seashell Harbor and are looking forward to reading the next in the series, the time is almost here. If you have not read Miranda Liasson before, this is an excellent selection. There is warmth, love, and family in this novel. Be sure to pick up a copy and enjoy.

What a beautifully written story! It's full of emotions; it will make you laugh, cry and feel every emotion in between. The author brings the story to life with her words, and you hate to see the book end. I highly recommend this book.

I'm a big fan of Miranda Liasson books. I find them to be the right mix of sweet, humor and heat. This is the second installment in a series. It's completely standalone, but I recommend reading the first one as it is a great story too. Kit was a bit of a surprise. Kit's a widow and single mother. I loved seeing her character grow stronger and more independent. Alex just made me swoon! He's such a marshmallow and I totally have a crush on him. Ollie is an awesome kid that was full of personality. I loved every moment of this story. I received an advance copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Kit's husband had died while serving in the military and she is learning how to live without him and to raise their 5 year old on. She moved home to live with her parents and to deal with her grief and to figure out what she wants to do with her life. Her husband left behind a old house to be sold.
Alex de la Cruz was her husband's best friend and served in the military together. He has guilt over his friend's death and vowed to help Kit and fix up the old house to be sold.
Alex and Kit also knew each other in high school as all 3 of them went to school together.
We also see Hadley and Darla from the first book of this series be there for her. All 3 of these women had been friends for years and they are there for each other in both books. I love their friendship and how they call out BS on each other but still remain friends.
Kit does not want a relationship again and to be hurt but there is an attraction there between Kit and Alex. Throw in some kitties, dogs and romance and this ended up being a fun read.
Thank You to Forever and NetGalley for this book to review

Sea Glass Summer is book two of a series, you do not have to read the first book to love this one. That said, you should read it because it is a great story. This book has no harsh on page cursing and no open door sex, so if those things bother you, there's nothing to worry about here.

Life is hard right now, that's just a fact – we're all dealing with real life stuff that is difficult to deal with. I am someone who reads a lot to escape, so I am incredibly particular about what I read to help me escape the fear and anxiety that overwhelms my days. Miranda Liasson's books are everything that I want when I want to escape into a book. She writes stories with incredibly serious topics and moments, but she writes them with such care that they're never too heavy or depressing the way some current “romance” stories can sometimes be. Not all authors can write about a widow dealing with the guilt of moving on with her life, aching for her husband while she's also falling for his best friend, while dealing with a son who is also struggling, but Ms. Liasson is a master at taking all that angst, all those feelings, and smoothing them all out with beautiful hope, sweetness, and the kind of humor that makes her books not only must-reads, but the kind of book you want to read again and again.

I have read every single book by this author, and I say this with utter honesty: this is my absolute favorite book Ms. Liasson has ever written. I absolutely loved Kit, Ollie, Alex, and the entire host of side characters who added a tremendous amount to this beautiful story but never overwhelmed it. Everything about this book was beautifully executed and wonderfully written. I will admit, there was a moment, a part of this book that I thought for sure would cost it a star, possibly two. I actually talked out loud to my Kindle as I read, shocked and horrified that Ms. Liasson had finally written a character doing something that I thought was going to be unforgivable, but I should have known better than to doubt her. The situation was handled in a perfectly satisfying manner that left me wanting to hug my Kindle with happiness and relief.

If you enjoy a book that covers all of the emotions and takes you along for a beautiful ride that ends with a happy sigh, this is a must-read. It's the perfect book to read while you're sitting by the ocean, but if you can't get to the water this story will transport you there.
