This is a slow burn mystery. The characters are flawed and unlikeable.
It was an entertaining read.

Finished this over a particularly sleepless night: The lying Club by Annie Ward. So many characters at an American high school where the mums are intent on their children getting soccer scholarships and there’s a lot of bitterness going around! It was slow to start so I was in and out but then I was so invested I couldn’t stop reading. I had an idea of what was going to happen but then was thrown off the scent repeatedly! I particularly loved how we plain didn’t know who had been affected, so it threw me and had me totally set in the wrong direction! All in all a book I really loved, and which got me out of a bit of a slump. Very much recommended. Thanks so much to the publisher for the book in return for an honest review.

A great book, really enjoyed it. I am new to the author but will definitely look out for more in the future. A fascinating cast of characters and while it is a slow burn, it's addictive and gripping.

This was ok, it was quite a slow burn and I found myself getting a little bored at places, I didn’t really connect with the characters either and was expecting a bit more from this

I found it hard to relate to these characters. I was hoping for alot more twists and turns and the ending was a bit disappointing. It was a predictable ending and I personally love the unpredictable.

The Lying Club is a well-crafted, atmospheric academic murder mystery with excellent characters. Set at an elite private school in the Colorado mountains, three women with secrets are connected by the handsome assistant athletic director at the school. Natalie, the office assistant who dreams of having a luxe life is in love with him. Brooke, the heiress who cheats has a daughter on his team. And Asha, the overprotective mom who suspects her husband is having an affair also has a daughter on the team who is best friends with Brooke's daughter. It all comes crashing to a head when two bodies are carried out of the school one morning. This is a story filled with secrets, jealous, lies and affluence. There are plenty of twists that will keep readers glued to their seats. Highly recommended!!

Any form of academic murder mystery and I am completely obsessed, and this was no exception for my love of this sub-genre!

Three women, two bodies and plenty of drama in this latest novel from Annie Ward.

Slow burning quick read, set within an elite private school in Colorado which is full of its own secrets!

3 Stars – Worth Reading!

Great read, wasn’t like some novels of this genre that you already guess the outcome by the time you’re halfway through, kept you guessing right til the end! Would recommend to anyone

I've read this a little over a month ago and I still remember what happened, which is always a good sign for a thriller. I read so many thrillers per year, and it means a lot that I was able to recall scenes from the plot and will definitely be looking out for more books from this author in the feature.

The lying club centres around 3 women; two moms and one receptionist in the school where the mother's children go to. On the surface everything looks idyllic from the outisde, but to its core, this is a community immersed in lies and deceit. Nothing is at it looks and a crime, binds these three women together. We don't get to find out the how until the very end, and I'm glad that the author intertwined their stories to fit like a perfect puzzle piece at the end.

This was a very entertaining read, albeit the predictability of the end, I found the story very fast pace and easy to follow and was pleasantly surprised at how hooked I was by the end.

Thank you to the publisher for approving my for an early read in exchange for an honest review.

"The Lying Club": 4 ⭐

This book was pretty much Good Girls meets Big Little Lies. Spoilt, rich families who do anything for their children. But what is anything? Would they risk it all?

I liked the atmosphere of this book, a community of liars, cheats and strong-headed people where I certainly would not like to delve in. However, it was a fun story to read about.

The Lying Club is a slow burning thriller which follows the lives of three well to do women and 2 of their children in an idyllic rich Colorado community. Think 'rich people problems' that slowly but dramatically become insidious and deathly.

At the start it's hard to feel empathy for many of the characters as they're seemingly living their perfect lives but as the chapters progress it's clear to see all is not what it seems and there are some very dark secrets lying under the surface.

I enjoyed how all the stories intertwined and came together at the end. there was some very clever plotting. Forget the title and think more along the lines of Big Little Lies with little flashes of Euphoria.

3.5/5

Unfortunately this book wasn’t for me and I struggled to get into it.

I will purchase a hardcopy to see if I get into it via that format, as I’ve heard so many good things about it.

It’s not a DNF, just not for me at the moment
