This was just okay for me. I enjoyed Chicken Sisters but this just missed the mark for me. I would still read her next book this might just not have been the book for me. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC!

Brief Synopsis:
Rhett an adventurous traveler that has become an Instagram celebrity and writer with the The Modern Pioneer Girl. When her relationship ends and her grandma dies she decides to go back home in hopes of taking over the family farm but her mother has different ideas. With the help of her best friend Jasmine she tries to save the farm

My thoughts:
- The relationship with Rhett and Jasmine is so amazing. They are there for each other through challenges, heartache and happy times. I love how their relationship was the center of the book
- I live on a farm so I loved the idea of Rhett saving the family farm and how a farm can help bring people together
- The reason I gave it 3 stars is I didn’t enjoy Rhett’s other relationships. They were not developed enough to connect with.
- Overall if you love a light read with character growth with some farm life added in you will enjoy this book!

A light, funny and uplifting story about a woman who has written a book about powerful women taking charge of her life but hides when facing reality. Forced to confront her mother and the realty of her past she makes a major change to her life

In Her Boots is the story of a very strained mother/daughter relationship, a lost romance, and the incredible tolerance required of a BFF. It's also the story of a "fake it til you make it" kind of girl who doesn't realize how strong and competent she actually is. I highly recommend this roller-coaster of a read. Very entertaining, frustrating and insightful. Well worth the time!

In Her Boots by KJ Dell'Antonia is a wonderful story of love, friendship, and perseverance. Well written with lovable characters. The country/farm setting was also a nice change for this type of read. I love this author and will continue to look for more reads from her in the future.

I liked the female relationships in this story and the complicated relationship Rhett had with her mother. However, the romance felt lackluster at best to me. I also thought that the story could have been wrapped up a bit quicker.

Kindly received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to PENGUIN GROUP Putnam, G.P. Putnam's Sons, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review the digital ARC of In Her Boots!

This story is one of struggle, regret, and making amends through it all. Love the it takes place on a farm, full of hard work, relationships and struggles. Love the trips of fixing broken relationships, mending ones self and really what it is like to mend broken ties with others too! Love the MC Rhett. who takes a different path than one her mom had set out for her. It was a light hearted read, easy to get through - would definitely recommend!

Pub date: 7/5/22
Genre: fiction with elements of romance and family drama
In one sentence: Rhett is the secret author of "The Modern Pioneer Girl’s Guide to Life", and it's time to roll up her sleeves and fight for the family farm...against her intimidating mother.

Rhett is a fun MC - she's had a lot of success - but she finds it hard to live by her own advice of being open to new experiences and not worrying about where the world is taking you. I loved her dynamic with best friend Jasmine, who she forces to pretend to be the Modern Pioneer Girl. With Jasmine baking up a storm for their farm stand, the two of them get the chance to take on the world and start to figure out what they want their lives to look like. And of course, there's got to a be a little romance!

The only quibble I had with this one is the Rhett is 40 years old, and honestly, she's kind of immature - I would have placed her around 30. But I still enjoyed the farm atmosphere and her character development. I'd recommend this one as a light summer read!

Thank you to G.P. Putnam's Sons for providing a NetGalley ARC in exchange for an honest review.

After reading Dell'Antonia's fifth novel I've got to read The Chicken Sisters!
When I read the synopsis I instantly clicked that green request button.

Rhett is turning the big 40, and she feels like her life is about to explode.
She is fresh out of a long-term relationship and to make matters worse the death of her Grandmother brings her back to her family farm.
The only thing that is looking bright right now is the fact that Rhett has published an inspirational book, called The Modern Pioneer Girl’s Guide to Life. Written under a pen name. And it has had a very successful outcome. But when her big publicity moment comes, she starts to doubt herself and she starts to freak out. She talks her best friend Jasmine into stepping into the spotlight for her.

But their stunt south when Rhett's controlling mother announced that she is selling the farm Rhett adores and eventually wanted to make it her own.
She hasn't seen her mother in two decades. She has to save her farm and her true identity. So Rhett must come up with a plan of action that will save her home and show her mom and prove to herself that she can do it.

"Sometimes you have to go big to go home."

In Her Boots was such a fun read. I truly enjoyed everything about this story.
The writing is fresh, funny, heartfelt, and wise.
Here we discover family meaning, the search for meaning and identity, and what it means to be set free from the past.
I was captivated by the characters and truly invested in the story.
A fast-paced read, with fun characters and just the right amount of tension to keep you flipping pages.
This is a book you'll read and immediately recommend to everyone you know!

I unfortunately couldn't make myself finish reading this book. I did not connect to Rhett and found her childish. I had read The Chicken Sisters and was hoping for something similar to it. The writing was good, just not Rhett. I'll still give the author a read when the next book comes out.

IN HER BOOTS is a story of struggle, home, regret, and making amends in every way. The setting of the farm gives us a feeling of the hard work that relationships take, and the often repetitive mending that must occur -- even in the best relationships. Dell'Antonia sets us up to know that challenges that come with a huge project—both in terms of staking a claim of home, and of mending broken ties with others. Our main character, Rhett, has tried so hard to make a different kind of life for herself than the one her mother envisioned for her. She ultimately finds that you might have to break a few eggs to make an omelet (this is a terrible reference to eggs and chickens on a farm), but as a reader, we’re right there along with her. Every relationship is re-examined in this story and I found that to be fantastic.

Discovered this author after Reese picked her last book for her club--enjoyed it, but this one is even better!
Thoroughly enjoyed!
Unputdownable!
Fun, engaging, empowering, thought-provoking.
Tackles the complexities of relationships--friendship, romantic, mother/daughter, where you're headed/where you've been.
With great thanks to NetGalley & PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for this ARC!

Really cute book and had a lot of great characters in it as well. I think it’ll be popular this summer and on a bunch of book club picks! It wasn’t much my style but I can see others like it.

Nice, lighter fare - a great respite after deep thrillers! I enjoyed the ebb and flow of the conversations and felt connected to characters. Will keep my eyes peeled for more from the artist!
Thanks for the ARC opportunity!

I enjoyed The Chicken Sisters and was looking forward to this new release. I was sadly disappointed. I didn't connect with any of the characters. The premise was intriguing of a woman trying to revive her family farm and confronting the problems in her relationship with her mother. It just wasn't for me, but not all books are for everyone. Thanks to Netgalley for this review copy.

In Her Boots had such a fun and unique premise that I just could not pass up. Give me any sort of a country or farm setting for a book and I am immediately interested. I liked Rhett as a main character and enjoyed reading all of the different events in her life. And there certainly were a lot of things going on at once! In Her Boots was an all around good book and one that I would recommend to women's fiction readers.

Thanks to Netgalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for this ARC; this is my honest and voluntary review.
