In the current era of overprescription and unrelenting advertisement, this book is a vital read for both people in the medical field and outside it. As a premedical student, it was sobering to learn the extent of exploitation and deception that pharmaceutical companies have been responsible for.

John Abramson presents all of this with an accessible, yet undeniably passionate voice, making this text difficult to put down once you begin. Thank you to both him and NetGalley for the digital copy!

I loved loved this book! It was such an interesting read. Getting more insight on how drug companies work and reading the story of this author do all these things was great. I’m very interested in medicine so this was awesome to read. It was also very easy to read and to understand. I loved reading about the authors personal experiences. I would highly recommend it. Loved it!

This book is exceptional! If you read just one book in 2022, choose this one. It’s an eye-opening look into the sobering statistics and tactics used in the American healthcare system, specifically in regard to pharmaceutical companies. It is information every American should have to empower them to make better decisions regarding their health. The author of this book is a medical doctor and researcher. He has intimate knowledge about the industry he writes about. The information is presented in a very easy-to-read format, is educative, and it keeps the reader turning the pages. It is decidedly not gloom and doom. It’s an earnest dialogue of what has happened and ponderings of how to right the proverbial ship. Five stars.

This was an excellent expose of the pharmaceutical industry and its deceptive tactics with respect to heatlhcare in the United States. As someone who is currently in medical school and spent time as an intern in the pharmaceutical industry, I was hoping that there would be a book like this that would eventually come out about big pharma. The author is an expert on this topic. In particular, the details about the peer review process he shared were shocking.
