I absolutely loved this book! I will definitely read more from this author. It was a sweet romance book with the typical rough patches. I would definitely recommend this book.

I could not finish the first chapter. I did not enjoy the style that it was written in, If the chapter had been written in first person, I may have been able to get through it.

DNF.
This book relies heavily on stilted sentences and tell-not-show, leaving a jarring and un-immersed experience. The plot was intriguing and I liked the cover, but not enough to put up with the writing style. The writer clearly has talent in developing conflict and characters, I just wish it was carried out differently.

I enjoyed the storyline of this book, I think it had potential to be a great read. However, I really struggled with the writing style. It felt very segmented, it didn't flow so I couldn't connect with the characters. It jumped around from character to character rather than focusing on development of the story between the hero and the heroin. I am sorry to say this didn't work for me.

Plot: The plot was overall good and enjoyable; I love a story of a man who’s been in love with a woman for a long time.
Writing: I, personally, am not a fan of the writing style. I think this is more of a personal preference, but the present tense and very standard, similar sentence structure on repeat was not for me. It became very repetitive at times; sometimes too repetitive.
Character Development: I loved the beginning where we learn more about Harvey, his shyness, his struggle with fitting in and how he grows and develops his writing talent. I really loved those moments for him.
Dialogue: For me, the dialogue was stiff and unrealistic because of its formality.
Scenes: There were many scenes that seemed to have been placed there just because, they didn’t drive the plot or character development so I was often confused as to why I was reading several scenes.
Other Notes: I think stylistically, this book just wasn’t for me. Not that it won’t be for someone else, but I am not partial to this writing style.

I could not make it past chapter two of this book, and that was giving it the benefit of the doubt as I wanted to stop after the first page. There is ZERO dialogue in this book. None. The writing is extremely elementary, as the author just describes the surroundings monotonously with no sentence variation. Then chapter two abruptly switches from third person narration to first person. I have never given a 1 star review before but honestly now I see why one-star reviews exist.

The story of Harvey and Helen

Harvey is a novelist, but keeps that to himself. When Helen's father asks him to help Helen after she is left blind by an accident, he agrees to help, even though she is engaged to someone else and he has always been in love with her. When she regains her sight, will she realise who she really wants?

DNF

I did not finish this one. I went through 2 chapters (almost). Absolutely no dialogue between characters. The author is just telling you what happened. I’m not in the mix of things - hearing about it from the characters. It’s odd how it’s written and I’m giving up.
Simply not the type of writing style I enjoy.
