Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of "The Unexpected Fall." All opinions are my own.

Genesis Gonzalez has spent the last two years trying to prove herself at Siren Music Records. Despite her dreams of creating music, she’s been stuck as an assistant who spends most of her day answering emails, taking notes in painfully long meetings, and avoiding Will Kobayashi, the six-two bane of her existence.

Gosh I LOVE an enemies to lovers trope. It gets me every time. Also them being coworkers. Enjoyable read.

I loved this cute and quirky book! Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite Tropes, and this book did it masterfully! I especially loved how Genesis had goals and dreams she set out to accomplish, and she had an idea of how she wanted to get there, and nothing would stop here, even if she had to work with grumpy Will to get there!

This book was well thought out, and the character arcs were fun to follow. I wish there was a little bit more banter and as always, I love more chemistry and more steam with my romcoms! But overall, fantastic book! I can't wait tonread more by this author.

This book was honestly very general and very 'mid' as much as I hate to say that word. It didn't feel original and overall it just lacked the spark other books that are rated 4 stars and higher for me possessed.

The first 25% of this book was so slow. For a debut novel I was definitely impressed and would pick up another book by this author. But at this time. I had to stop reading. I hope to come back to it another time.

I really enjoyed this book. It had just the right amount of plot and romance. I liked the chemestry between Genesis and Will. And anything with music gets an extra star in my book ;)

The story was cute but i took more time than usual to finish the story so because of it i started to lose interest in it. Maybe it was because of that or i would have enjoyed this story more.

I thought that this was a decent romance novel. The author does a good job of creating characters that are easy to relate to and care about. The characters were all fantastic - I especially loved Genesis and Will together. They had great chemistry and I enjoyed watching their relationship evolve over the course of the book. The supporting characters were also really well-done, and I found myself smiling whenever they were all together.. However, while the story was engaging, I felt that some of the plot points were a bit predictable and formulaic. Overall, I would recommend this book to fans of the romance genre who are looking for a quick, enjoyable read. While it may not be the most groundbreaking or original novel out there, it is definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for a charming love story with some emotional depth.

Thank you NetGalley and Anna Salcedo for an eARC.

This was a cute read. I loved the concept (two coworkers paired up for a contest, to work on song, and they don't like each other). I loved both characters and their growth throughout this book. There is lots of dirty talk (for those looking 👀). And as mentioned the tropes are: enemies to lovers, coworkers, workplace romance, and forced proximity. There's lots of music, for those music lovers out there! It's very similar to The Hating Game and The Spanish Love Deception. The only thing that killed me was the writing. I just wasn't vibing with her writing. Some parts tend to go from 0 to 100 VERY QUICK and it felt like the build up wasn't there.

I liked the set up, the work contest and the chemistry. The work stuff really sucks, both in life and in this book

I put off my arc of this for too long!
I thought this was a pretty generic office setting dislike-to-lovers romance. My only other real gripe was that it was frankly, too long. It could have been edited down to be 50-100 pages shorter. Not a bad time, I enjoyed both characters families and I did want them together in the end!

The book tells a compelling story of the two characters trying to overcome their differences and create a song that will showcase their talents and win them the contest. The music industry's cutthroat nature is depicted realistically, with rivalries, backstabbing, and difficult personalities, adding layers to the plot.

The romance between Genesis and Will is slow-burning and well-developed, with their chemistry increasing as they spend more time together. Salcedo's writing style is engaging and creates vivid imagery that transports the reader into the music industry, making the book a page-turner.

Overall, "The Unexpected Fall" is a heartwarming love story set against the backdrop of the music industry, with relatable characters and a captivating plot.

I do love a good workplace romance with a little competitive energy thrown in.
Genesis and Will are well developed and relateable. The chemistry and banter between Genesis and Will was **chefs kiss**. I do wish we had a dual POV to get a better picture of what was going on in Will's head/his perspective but not having it did not detract toooo much from the story.
The cast of side characters is great. I loved the friendships and family connections for both Genesis and Will.
Looking forward to more from Anna Salcedo.

Not my favorite but not the worst either!

Just going to give a few bullets for this one because I'm not feeling I gave it enough of my time/attention to write a full review.

- Will's obsession with Genesis kind of irked me, simply because he was very rude most of the time. It really fed into the boys will bully you if they like you stereotype, and I don't like that whatsoever.
- The writing was good, for a debut I am very impressed by the storyline and seamless transitions from scene to scene.
- Felt like first 10/15 percent of the book was very slow compared to the rest, but I understand background is needed!
- culture wise I loved the diversity and inclusivity the book represented!

I overall think because I am in a slump reading this, and I also read it in small bits when I found the time that I didn't give it justice. This is why I'm not giving a strong numerical rating either, just putting 3 because I need to for netgalley. Try it out if you see it!

This was a cute enemies to lovers/forced proximity office romance. It was slow burn and I enjoyed it. Love the interracial representation and the music industry setting

⚠️ TW: mention of suicide, suicide attempts, mental breaks, eating disorders

Kyle Davies is getting it together. As a former baker, she rises early to prepare breakfast for the day and decide on lunch and dinner. She has her routine. She loves her routine. Her routine helps her to forget about the scars on her wrists. Being at Hope House is enough of a daily reminder that life became too much and she tried to take her life. She finds comfort in watching the coffee shop across the street (and the good looking guy behind the counter). When Kyle is finally allowed to leave the facility, she heads over to the coffee shop. What’s the harm after all? Come to find out, the unsmiling and surly Jackson really has a sweet heart and nice sense of humor. How is a girl not to fall for a guy like this? But her doctor has warned her, a romantic relationship will set back her healing. But being with Jackson brings her happiness that she hasn’t felt in a long time. But as time goes by and problems arise, maybe the good doctor was right. How can you love someone if you can’t love yourself?

My friends. This book. Is. REMARKABLE. If you have ever struggled with mental health, and mental health while in a relationship, you will likely see yourself in this book. I did not remember what this book was about but as soon as I started it, I couldn’t stop. I read this book within a 24 hour timespan. There were moments where I could have sworn Kyle’s thoughts were my own. There were some tears shed, just by seeing myself represented in this character. But also in understanding the pain in healing and the pain in healing while falling in love with someone else. Please guys, do yourself the favor and read this book. I promise, you will not regret it.
