While I found the writing style and varied view points interesting, I had a hard time connecting with the book and characters and ultimately found it a bit boring. I would be interested to read more from this author, but found Heartsick a little dry.

This is a great non-fiction book that reads like fiction. It details the experiences of three different people (real ones) as they encounter love and loss. What really set this book apart for me, though, was the end section, titled "On Romantic Rejection" -- this alone bumped up my star rating, as I think it is an exceptional look at how heartbreak is addressed in society. It's enlightening, and some of what Jessie Stephens pointed out will stay with me forever.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone struggling with grief over a lost love, so pretty much everyone at some point in their life. It is an easy read (like I said, the stories read like fiction) and it really did make me think. Much of what the characters experience is relatable on some level, and it is extremely well articulated. Though Claire was by far my least favorite, I'm sure others would be able to relate to her particular brand of heartbreak.

Thank you to Jessie Stephens, Henry Holt & Co, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

An emotionally moving true story of three love affairs that didn’t last.I foundthe three stories so interesting I sympathized with their heartbreak at the end of their romance.A book I was completely caught up in.#netgalley #henryholt

I read about 20% of this book and just couldn't get into it. I felt like it was put together without much critical thought, it was written in such plain speech. I loved the concept – three stories of heartache involving three different situations. I even loved the normalcy of 2/3 of them. If the writing was more compelling, I would have gotten through even the low points of the narratives, but I just felt it was dry and straightforward and a lot like reading someone's blog. I DNF

Heartsick by Jessie Stephens is three stories surrounding the heartbreak of different individuals-Anna, Patrick and Claire. The lasting effects of these experiences change them forever. I wanted to like this book but I honestly couldn’t connect to any of the three plots. I found myself bored within the first few chapters and never really got invested. I love a good heartbreak book but this just wasn’t it for me. I do think it was very realistic and others may relate to it more then myself.

Heartsick shares three true stories about heartbreak and this book is for anyone that’s ever been heartbroken. The preface was a really great way to begin, because it’s a universal feeling and Jessie Stephens does an incredible job of making you feel it all over again. I love that she wrote the book that she wanted to read. It’s not to fix anything or offer solutions, but to be there with you in your feelings. I also appreciated the different perspectives, including one from a man, and one from an LGBTQ woman. That being said, I was really distracted by the formatting, jumping back and forth at odd moments. After such a strong start, I couldn’t help but feeling like there was something missing. The epilogue felt like a last minute attempt to fit the three stories together. Overall, I related to the feeling of heartbreak, and there were a lot of emotional moments, but I just kept wanting MORE from it and it didn’t ever quite get there for me.

I really enjoyed reading Heartsick. I was hooked from the first page. Everything is well written and descriptive in a way that really pulls you in. I loved following the different narratives and empathizing with their perspectives and stories. Heartbreak can be such a lonely and confusing time and this book is its own form of validation for whatever feelings may be coming up. When I was dealing with my own heartbreak I would have loved to read this book. There are so many self-help books, but not many books that offer the different perspectives and different levels of raw emotion that are offered throughout Heartsick.

Thank you, NetGalley and Henry Holt & Company for allowing me to preview this book in exchange for an honest review.

I adored this and devoured it in just a few hours. A look at three very different relationships as they fall both in and out of love. It is the falling out of love that was exceptionally poignant. A must read for anyone who is in or out of love.
