“Seven friends. One killer. You can run, but you can’t hide...”

A group of birdwatching friends is hiking through an isolated nature preserve when one of them is murdered. At first I was worried that having the story told from the alternating perspectives of all seven friends would be confusing, but it really added to the suspense. There were so many conflicts and secrets that were revealed as the story unfolded, and I truly had no idea who the killer was! This is a perfect page turning thriller to keep you up way too late on a cold winter night, even better if you can binge read it over a weekend in a snowy cabin in the woods!

This is my first book by Nell Pattison, but I’ll definitely be reading more of her books! Special thanks to Netgalley and Harper 360/Avon for sharing an ARC with my in exchange for my honest review.

Nowhere to Hide is an outdoor adventure and similar to a locked room mystery. 7 adults are part of a nature bird watching group and have hiked far into the reserve into the winter to view a special birding event (Murmuration). While there, one of the participants dies. No one is sure what has happened or why. Although the book describes everyone as "7 friends" they really are not - just adults with a shared hobby interest But BECAUSE they are not actually friends.

It's a bit more suspenseful and they all try to determine what happened and how to get help before a blizzard sets in. The story was refreshing and as promised, every character had a secret they wanted to keep hidden. I also enjoyed learning the reasons behind some of their less predictable behavior. I do with there was more characterization but it was a fun read and suspenseful! If you like a snowy thriller, locked room mystery, psychological intensity, then this is a book for you! #NetGalley #NowheretoHide #avon #avonpublishing

I very much enjoyed this novel which gave me strong Agatha Christie vibe by the secluded setting and a group of friends that are seemingly on good terms but deep down experience some deep set animosity. A terrific read!

This book was full of twists and turns and literally had me guessing until the end. Highly recommend. A group of friends full of secrets and dislike for each other go on a hike in a private reserve to view something spectacular. But what they find. Is a dead friend. So. Is it one of their own? Or someone else? And will they let them out alive? I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This plot felt familiar since I have read One By One, Five Total Strangers, The Sanitarium, and No Exit, with the mysterious murder, snow, and seclusion. However, even with the familiar troupes, Nell Pattison tells an original story with surprising twists and an ending that I did not see coming. I also loved that one of the main characters is deaf with cochlear implants. This aspect brought a whole new perspective that is terrifying!

Thank you NetGalley, Harper Collins, and Avon Books for allowing me to read this book ahead of publication in exchange for my honest review.

This book is billed as a thriller. What could be more t hrilling that hiding and escaping from a serial killer who could be someone you know and standing right next to you? Well, bad writing ruins the premise. The prologue, which, in thriller novels are supposed to create anticipation, is just flat and dull. I read the first chapter and the characters were just throwing their emotional baggage at each other. I didn't care to read any further.

A group of ”friends” goes on a hike in a closed nature reserve. What’s meant to be a day to bring everyone together to enjoy a shared hobby ends in murder.

Unfortunately I just wasn’t into this one at all. 🤷‍♀️ The end has a bit of an interesting twist.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

Nowhere to Hide is fast paced and suspenseful with a premise that drew me in. I enjoyed the multiple points-of-view and loved the setting - a nature group goes on a winter hike in an otherwise closed nature reserve. A gunshot rings out and they find one of the group dead. Alone, at night, with no cellphone reception and unsure who to trust, they have to traverse several snowy miles to get back to their cars and call for help. Recommended for fans of suspense.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. The opinions in this review are honest and my own. #suspense #NowhereToHide

A very enjoyable read from start to finish. I'll be looking for more from this author in the future. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

This was the first time reading a book from Nell Pattison. I was not disappointed. The idea of five friends getting together sounded perfect, but these five friends were the snarkiest, rudest people ever! With friends like these, who needs enemies. There was intense drama that unfolded with one person murdered and those remaining suspecting each other. The ending was not what I expected and what it actually did was leave me with more questions than answers.

I do recommend the book and I look forward to reading more of Nell Pattison's books. Thank you NetGalley for providing AC.

I didn't quite expect that ending! I really enjoyed this book and would have given it five stars but it was a little slow moving in the middle. I believe I have read every book by this author so far and I'm really looking forward to more. I was happy to see a slightly different approach to this book than the first three. And appreciate that it is a stand alone because not everything should be turned into a series. If you like thrillers and are willing to take the time to keep multiple characters straight and deal with a little slowness in the middle this book will be a pleasing read in my opinion. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for the free advanced copy for my honest opinion.

An entertaining, quick page-turner in a unique setting. A recommended purchase for collections where thrillers are popular.

NELL. PATTISON. DID. THE. DANG. THING. Wow this threw me for a loop, for a wild ride, however you want to say it. I loved this so much and felt anxiety, fear, helplessness, all the emotions I believe she wanted me to feel. Great story.

Much thanks to Net Galley for the early access to this one. There were parts of this I liked, including the premise and the remote setting. It was inherently binge-worthy with the changing POVs. The pacing felt off, however, and it dragged throughout the middle. These characters are stuck in the snow and it felt like they were just wandering for a good chunk of the middle. I did guess the murderer about half way through but there were still some surprises at the end. Some of the characters were more fleshed out than others and with 7 leads it is difficult to feel like you know all of them equally. .I think some thriller fans will enjoy but this one missed the mark a bit for me.

I love thrilling murder mysteries in a closed room setting which is exactly what this is. It was well constructed with breath taking twists and convincing red herrings. It took me a while to get used to the writing--I'm American and this is written in thick UK slang--but it didn't detract from the story enough for me to be pulled out or to lose interest.

Seven friends decide to go on a Boxing Day walk in a nature reserve but after splitting up to get the best view of a Starling murmuration, one of the group is found dead. Lauren works at the reserve, and had been allowed special access, but because the reserve was technically closed to visitors, it seems likely that one of them is the killer.

As with the author’s series featuring Paige Northwood, one of the characters is deaf which leads to some interesting challenges while the group turn on each other and at the same time try and make it out alive.

Hide definitely had an Agatha Christie vibe - an isolated setting, a fixed number of suspects and a gradual reveal of each of the characters backstories. An entertaining Christmas whodunnit with some unique twists.

Nowhere to Hide
Nell Pattison

Nell Pattison has became a major favorite of mine this past year.
The Silent House, Silent Night and The Silent Suspect have all been such great intriguing reads.
So I knew Nowhere to Hide was bound to be great!
And I wasn't wrong. This story gripped me from the very first page.
I was invested and I didn't put my Kindle down for hours.
The way she writes is so captivating.
A very intriguing read with lots of suspense.
The writing was very detailed and gripping.
The characters were so well written and believable.
The explosive climax of the book had my heart racing while I tried to read as quickly as possible.
A great "whodunnit" that will keep you guessing until the very end.
A true psychological thriller.

Nowhere to Hide is a very entertaining read (I had actually read it previously when it was under the title "Hide"). It is different than a lot of the thrillers I've been reading lately, which is nice. The entire book takes place in the span of one night on a nature reserve in rural England. On this night, there is a murder at the reserve and the characters find themselves running from a killer, through the woods, in the middle of a snowstorm. The narration is through seven POVs. As a reader, you don't trust any of the characters, so you're constantly guessing who is telling the truth and who has ulterior motives. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a gripping murder mystery/thriller. I found it impossible to put down.

This had a great level of suspense and twists without getting too dark. As soon as you start to think you've figured it out they throw in another curve up until the last page. The book also sets itself up well for a sequel which would be really interesting to carry this story through. There are a number of characters and POV changes but there's enough development of each that it's easy to follow. If you're looking for a page turner this was definitely one.

Wow, am I exhausted, as I stayed up way too late reading Nowhere to Hide, but it was completely worth it . Seven friends go on a hiking the day after Christmas. The trip is to help the group grow closer but that's hard to do when one of the members knows everyone's darkest secrets and one on them is willing to kill to keep their secrets.nThis was a fun and twisty read and I definitely recommend this book. I read a lot of mysteries and feel pretty confident in my ability to guess who the killer are usually, but this one had me guessing till the very end. Be prepared to be totally engrossed as you not be able to put down this book. Thank you so much to Harper 360 and NetGalley for an advanced copy of Nowhere to Hide.
