It seemed as if we knew the culprit too soon, and so the rest of the book seemed not to follow. But the multiple twists later on made this book interesting, though not so surprising at the end. Only. the motive was inconsistent with the character and personality of the perpetrator. Itr was not as satisfying at it seemed it was going to be at the beginning.

Bunnies In Tutu's & Pigs In Top Hats!! 😳😯🤯😯🤯

Floof Off! Seriously I didn't pay for this ride but take my money! My heart is in shock. Does someone have a defibrillator?! Cheese whiz and crackers! First major jaw drop with a gasp? Half way through. It's nothing of what you would expect! You may find the first half of the book is a bit of a slow burn - that's okay!! KEEP GOING! Because the amazingly dark, juicy & delectable stuff comes right after and it starts with a bang!
Molly lives in London & doesn't like risk or unpredictability. She tried to stay one step ahead - always vigilant. Her sister, Katie (KT) who now lives in New York, is the exact opposite. Always wants to try things once, outgoing go-getter & throws caution to the wind. Did I mention, they're identical twins? One evening Molly gets a call from her parents who are visiting KT in New York, to be told she's dead. Molly immediately books a flight to New York and starts an investigation of her own on what could've happened to her sister only to realize, nothing is as it seems and the dark lies are beyond what Molly could imagine.
While yes, the plot may seem a tad bit far fetched and hard to believe, it's the ending that isn't what you'll see coming! Amp up the crazy for this one people! Psychological thriller isn't even a strong enough word for it. This has more twists & turns than a roller coaster ride at Six Flags people! Hold on tight & be ready to drop. your. jaw!

I give this 4.5 / 5 Bouquets! 💐

Fantastic read! Molly and her identical twin sister, Katie, are complete opposites. Molly lives in London and is an introvert who is afraid of so many things and automatically thinks of the worst things that can happen in regular situations.. Katie is outgoing and adventurous and moved to New York for college. Katie is murdered in her bed and thus starts the story of whodunnit - was it her boyfriend, a professor, maybe the creepy guy downstairs in her apartment building? There are a lot of twists and turns to the story that keep you reading and guessing. The author also does a great job of pulling out some of the emotions that you feel for her parents while they are going through every parent's nightmare of losing a child - and for Molly in losing someone that she adored and had always done everything with from birth. Or wait.....maybe things aren't as they seem.

If Will Dean writes it, I'm going to read it. I loved this book just as much as his previous book, The Last Thing to Burn.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review this book.

FIRST BORN is a suspenseful read, with lots of twists and turns, but I missed the richness of detail, characteristic of the Tuva Moodyson mysteries.

This is an interesting novel by a great writer. Coming off of the heels of Last Thing Left to Burn, I was excepting a different kind of thriller, but I had a great time with this mystery. This book has such a dynamic cast of characters, especially the main character. I highly recommend anything written by Will Dean, and this book easily makes that list.

A twist, then another twist! Whoa! What’s going on?

I enjoy books about twins. In this novel, one twin in London is informed her identical twin sister has been murdered in New York City. She has many many anxiety issues. The author Will Dean describes these anxieties well.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Atria for these twists.

3.5 stars rounded up -

this was definitely an interesting story. although i feel like i'm a little burnt out from reading books with identical twins. will dean's writing style is great & i can't wait to read more of his books. i love the twist smack dab in the middle of the book & it definitely was a game changer after that point on.

lower rating because of the ending, but otherwise definitely worth the read & definitely suspenseful.

Current read: sneak peek of First Born by Will Dean.

I started this one last night and was hooked- I didn't want to stop reading and go to sleep!

All day I've been thinking about reading more of it and I'm excited to wind down, snuggle with the dogs and grab my Kindle. 🐕🐩🐩

"Molly Raven lives a quiet, structured life in London, finding comfort in security and routine. Her identical twin Katie, living in New York, is the exact opposite: outgoing, spontaneous, and adventurous.

But when Molly hears that Katie has died, possibly murdered, she is thrown into unfamiliar territory. As terrifying as it is, she knows she must travel across the ocean and find out what happened. But as she tracks her twin’s final movements, cracks begin to emerge, and she slowly realizes her sister was not who she thought she was and there’s a dangerous web of deceit surrounding the two of them."

So far, Im loving the character of Molly, she's smart and quirky and different than most main characters. Im also not sure which way the story is going to go so I am definitely intrigued.

There is a @Goodreads giveaway for this book right now. First Born will be published in July! 📖

Compelling, Sick and Twisted.

You Got Me Again Will Dean. Bravo.

Featuring twisted freaking sister(s)!!

How on earth did I not figure this one out?! I have asked myself that several times since finishing it. Baaaawahhhaaaahhhaa!

Can I just say this one tripped me up?! A wildly captivating, character driven, mystery suspense that kept me glued to the edge of my seat. Let me just say that if you have a sister, this one's for you!

First Born gave Kaceey and me lots to talk about!

I love Will Dean ever since reading The Last Thing to Burn so I was so excited to read his newest. I’m so happy to report that it didn’t disappoint! First Born was a slow burn but I found myself quickly turning the pages to find out what would happen next. Very different than TLTTB but in the best way! Will Dean is an auto-buy author for me now!

3.5*
Maybe just a bit OTT?💁‍♀️

Molly and Katie. Identical twins that couldn’t have been more different!

Molly avoids the spotlight, frightened of everything. A true introvert. Her sister Katie is a no-holds barred, grab life by the tail extrovert. She’s chosen to leave London behind, taking a sponsorship to study at Columbia University in New York.

Molly receives a call from her parents pleading with her to immediately get on a plane and come to New York. The news they have to share is unthinkable, and she senses her life will never be the same. Her sister Kate is dead!

This was a lightning-fast thriller I absolutely devoured! But as the twists appeared I found it harder and harder to accept the new trajectory. And let me tell you…there are some major doozies!

All and all it was a fun romp and I think most thriller fans will enjoy. Could be a case of it’s just me…

A buddy read with Susanne.

Will Dean has done it again. I read The Last Thing to Burn when it was released and the story has stuck with me since I've read it. I have recommended it to everyone I know that enjoys mystery/thriller because it was so well written. First Born is another in the same vein.

I do not want to give anything away and you can read the premise for the book in the description. so let me say this. If you're used to reading a mystery/thriller and figuring out the ending within a few chapters of the book, I challenge you to do so here! The characters draw you in with tragedy, heartache, and even happiness, but propel you forward into a labyrinth of lies, deceit, and a cacophony of strangers' lives that intertwine and unravel in front of the reader's eyes. Excellent read! I look forward to Mr Dean's next book!

Dean has done it again! Damn trippy book!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dean writes stories that are not what they seem. You start out with the story going one way, waiting for the twist. Waiting and waiting. Then when it hits, you are thinking, WHAT? From there, it takes off.
This story is loaded with turns and spins that will keep you on your toes throughout. I really enjoy the pacing and the subtle hints. The way he keeps the reader off-balance is awesome. He caught me totally off guard in several places.
The ending is really a trip and so unexpected. A must-read for those that enjoy a twisted, psychological story written with depth and a dab of crazy!
How do I review this book without giving anything away? I can say that I was completely into the story from page one. I was along for the ride and what a ride it was!! I suspected the killer early on but still when it was revealed I had that opened mouth look on my face while reading. Just when you think nothing else is going to happen, another layer gets peeled back and you are once again left with your mouth hanging open. This book should be on your MUST read thrillers or the summer! This is the perfect book to bring to the beach and just get lost in this most entertaining crazy story!!
First Born is about twin sisters Molly and Katie. Molly travels to New York to try to find out how her sister died. I thought I figured out how Katie died and I was wrong! This book has lots of twists and turns! I will definitely read more books by this author, even though this book made me question myself and if I need to obtain some of the items that Molly did (those that read the book will know what I am talking about!) and I am not a paranoid person! haha! #NetGalley
Molly and Katie Raven may be identical twins but their lives couldn't more different. Molly thrives in a structured environment where safety measures are assessed and properly planned for while Katie, the outgoing and fun twin, is living an adventures life in NYC. When Molly discovers that her Katie is dead, possibly murdered, she must travel to NY to find out what happened. Molly knows Katie better than anyone...or so she thinks. As she investigates her sister’s death she discovers that Katie was hiding some dangerous secrets...but then again so is she.
First Born is an exciting new thriller from Will Dean about identical twins Molly and Katie and the secrets they keep. I really enjoy Dean's writing style and was very excited to get my hands on this new novel...and it was a roller coaster read for me. I'm a reader who enjoys MC's who are a bit damaged or troubled so of course I love Molly's character. Molly has irrational fears about safety that make her a bit of a shut in. When her twin KT is found dead she has to travel to NYC, which goes against every safety protocol she can imagine. Here is where I started my descent on this ride. I had doubts about where this novel was going but I should have been prepared for the drop...Wow! I'm not going to spoil anything but I did NOT see that coming. The last half of this book had me hooked and I had to stay up late just so I could finish it. My only grievances come from my annoyance at repetitiveness...first about being twins (we got it) and also Molly asking "what happened" to her sister (it was a bit much) Overall this had a fantastic twisty plot and interesting characters...another must read novel from Will Dean!
What did I just read? Did I hallucinate?
It started off not slow but just kind of at a normal pace giving us a chance to know everyone. Then you get slammed at the end of one chapter. Or, as I call it, getting Deaned. Will Dean can turn a story on its tippy toes and his books are just getting better and better. This book actually double Deaned me.
8 stars.
First Born is a fast paced thriller which I read in a day. It switched back and forth between characters. Molly and Katie are twins who do everything together. That is, until Katie moves to New York from England and leaves Molly in the dust. When Katie is murdered, Mollie makes a trip with her parents to retrieve Katie’s body and belongings. She begins to investigate who could have killed her twin by befriending Katie’s friend group. Thank you so much to Will Dean and Net Galley for an ARC version of this awesome book.
