This was cute. I jumped in on the third book in the series. It’s a standalone but does contain spoilers for the previous books.
It’s a quick paced and quick read historical romance akin to Jane Austen’s Emma with its heroine, and not unlike Pride and Prejudice in the way both characters have some personal growing to do before they can come together. I will say the male half of the romance was a bit of a self righteous ass, and annoyed me a lot with that. Even though he’s called out on it, realizes he’s being self righteous, and grows, the constant scripture spewing was a little heavy handed in my opinion, even for a Christian romance.
Still, the way the book showed depth in its treatment of relationships as things which take time and attention to mend and to grow, and the way it created a strong sense of place and interesting characters made it a four star read for me. The slow burn and romantic tension I found to be well-crafted also.

I can’t decide if Harriet and Jonas are at odds because they’re opposites or because they’re so alike (they’re both fixers even though they approach problems in extremely different ways) that’s what creates the questions between them. Either way, Enchanting the Heiress by Kristi Ann Hunter was a delight to read.

Harriet’s got good intentions. She wants to help people, but she manipulates them to get there. Jonas is more straightforward, but the one person he’s been intent on fixing everything for is his twin sister who no longer needs him to fix things in her life now that she’s married.

I loved that Hunter used so much scripture in this book. It’s part of Jonas, and even though he doesn’t always use the Bible verses as intended, this part of his character shows me that he’s going to be a strong spiritual leader for Harriet who has a lot of growing in that area to do.

Readers also get a good number of cameos from people in Hunter’s previous books which is a fun surprise for those of us who have been fans since the Hawthorne House days, but they also aren’t so obvious that a new reader will be lost. Anyone in search of an engaging regency romance with a few laughs, some great banter, and solid character growth throughout cannot go wrong with this book.

So nice to get back to these lovely people again! Quite the interesting mix of society and working people and blurring the lines between them. Harriet is a wealthy heiress who loves to involve herself in fixing other people's problems. She doesn't see it as meddling, but her strong personality combined with it influences people's perceptions. She is an important part of this mix of friends though. They live in a small town where horse racing is a big deal with a season of its own for the wealthy. Jonas works with the racehorses. He and his sister were also from a wealthy family, but had lost everything, yet bringing their knowledge of horses with them. Their intertwining lives are very interesting as they all get to settle into their lives and who they are. But Harriet has a secret, and her dilemma with dealing with it is intricate. As she tries to help Jonas uncover his artistic talents, they both become entangled. Their story is a frustrating and lovely one at the same time. Great read!

Enchanting the Heiress
Home on the Heath #3
By Kristi Ann Hunter

Miss Harriet Hancock may not be titled but she is an heiress. An heiress with a secret, a secret that is keeping her from living the life she truly wants.

Jonas Fitzroy is tired of Miss Hancock's meddling ways. She thinks nothing of implying a mistruth here or there to get the result she wants. He saw how she meddles in his sister Sophia's life and he doesn't want to be caught in any of her "plans".

But Sophia hatches a plan to get Jonas out of his solitary existence she just needs Harriet's help to pull it off. Never one to deny Sophia, Jonas finds himself agreeing to speak about his art with Harriet but gets pulled into a scheme of helping her to write a book. Past experiences have made him wary of Harriet and her request.

As the two work together Jonas has moments when he wonders if he has misjudged Harriet. But when the truth that Harriet has guarded for years comes out, Jonas has to wonder if he truly ever knew the real Harriet.

Enchanting the Heiress is the third and final book in the Home on the Heath series. This time we get to know Jonas and Harriet. Jonas has spent years avoiding any and all close relationships with everyone other than Sophia. Harriet has been living a lie, it was with the best intentions but she has trapped herself in it. Harriet and Jonas couldn't be a more unlikely couple but their friends see the potential. But the truth that Harriet has been concealing could destroy the fragile friendship that has been forming between them.

I have to say I'm sorry that this series is ending. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all the characters who graced these pages. The characters all have depth and there are layers that have to be peeled away to get to who they truly are at their core. Harriet was definitely more than what I was expecting, especially with what I saw of her in the two previous books. Now, I feel this book is best read after reading Vying for the Viscount and Winning the Gentleman but one could read this book as a standalone and not get lost, some reference to previous incidents wouldn't be as clear but not to the point of ruining the story.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion - all thoughts expressed are my own.

An enchanting read!

Miss Harriet Hancock is living a lie, while some would argue that Jonas Fitzroy isn’t really living his life at all. When the two are tossed together, an unexpected friendship forms between the heiress and the stable hand. But will Harriet’s deception doom their chance at romance before it even begins? And will Jonas summon the courage to cast off the constraints of their class-based society?
Rich with period detail, the witty banter and complex characters will enchant readers. Perfect for curling up with and escaping to another time and place.

Although this was book 3 in the series and I have not read the first 2, I had no trouble following the story line. I will definitely go back and read the first two as I am sure some back story of characters from this story will be included in the first 2.

This book is a well written Regency romance that I really enjoyed. The relationship between the twins, Jonas and Sophia, was delightful to watch as they supported and looked out for one another. Harriet, Sophia's friend, could definitely be classed as a busybody while she thought she was just being helpful in moving people in the right direction or meeting their needs. It was wonderful to see her grow and change as Jonas challenged her in her attitudes and activities as well as questioning whether her helpfulness was faith based or for her own thoughts and choices. But the big question was even if Harriet changed could a romance happen between a wealthy heiress and a younger man who was from gentility but not wealth.

Delightful Regency read.

“We all have bearing on one another. It is our duty to make that bearing as beneficial as possible.”

When two colorful and interesting, but seemingly incongruent, characters were thrown together in this book, I couldn’t see how it was going to work out, but author Kristi Ann Hunter shuffled them through enough adventures and awakened their minds enough that we got a happy ending. Wealthy heiress Harriet Hancock loves to use her wealth and prestige to anonymously bless the lives of others. What she doesn’t realize is that sometimes it felt like she was manipulating them.

“Why was it so difficult for people to understand that helping others was its own reward? It was a purpose in and of itself.”

Hardworking and unpretentious Jonas Fitzroy is a stable hand who enjoys working with horses but doesn’t really care for prestige or society in general. He’s thoughtful and protective of his sister and shuns the spotlight—until Harriet takes him on as her newest project. I enjoyed the interaction between Harriet and Jonas and seeing their relationship grow.

“There is so much of God in nature, whether it be the flow of a stream or the beauty of a horse or the tickle of a breeze. The fact that everyone feels the same wind or wades through the same water regardless of who they are or where they were born reminds me that God sees us all the same and loves us equally.”

This story felt like it had more of an inspirational message than most of Kristi Ann Hunter’s books. Threads of being truthful, having integrity, and not being manipulative, as well as forgiveness were woven through it. Hunter’s signature sense of humor still was apparent, though, to lighten up the scenes. Although it can be read as a stand alone book, it was fun to see characters from the previous books in the series play parts in this one.

This was my first book by Kristi Ann Hunter but it won't be my last! Although, I do think it's best to start at the beginning of a series, I didn't feel like it was too difficult jumping in at the end of the series. I immediately fell in love with Harriet and her "meddling ways"! Her and Jonas' romance was sweet and I am looking forward to going back and reading the other books so I can see what really happened earlier with Harriet's friends Bianca and Sophia.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

This is a love story between two people- Jonas and Harriet. Harriet is an heiress and Jonas a stable hand but the book focuses more on their personalities and interactions with each other. It’s a very sweet romantic story.

Having greatly enjoyed the first two novels in the Hearts on the Heath series, I was very excited to dive into this third book. I was delighted to read more about characters and focus in particular on Harriet and Jonas, who were introduced to us in the previous books. (Although you do not necessarily have to read these stories in order, I do recommend it as you get some more background information on the different individuals.) I love how Kristi Ann Hunter writes about characters that have great growth and development in her stories. I didn’t connect with Harriet and Jonas as immediately as I did the previous two couples, but I really liked reading about them changing for the better in the book. Their banter was fun too! There is a little mystery to the novel as both have secrets that are revealed during the story. I liked the spiritual theme of seeking God’s plan for your life. I have really enjoyed this Regency fiction and look forward to what the author writes next!

I loved this book! It was so much fun to get to know Jonas better and to have an enemy to friends story, I loved the topics that were explored.

This is a great Christian fiction book that follows Jonas and Harriet whom we met in the last Hearts on the Heath book. I really loved the character arcs and the things the characters needed to learn. Jonas quotes lord of Bible verses, and it urges Harriet to really find the meaning and application of the scripture verses. There are themes of trust, honesty, and finding purpose and enjoyment in life. If you have enjoyed the other books in this series I would definitely recommend this one! I loved getting to know the inner workings of Harriet’s mind and why she is the way she is. I loved getting to follow Jonas after his twin got married and moved on with out him. My absolute favorite part was the quick wit and banter between the two - Kristi always does a fantastic job with the word play!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book. Ask thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way biased.

This was a miss for me, and I can't put my finger exactly on why. I had a very difficult time getting into it, felt it had a very slow start and wasn't drawing me in. A lot of telling and not as much explaining, if that makes sense. The prior book was so good, I fully expected to be excited about this story, but I just...wasn't. I love this author, will definitely read future books, but this one was lukewarm and did not hit the spot.

A nice lighthearted read about being honest and finding your calling. Sprinkled with some dry wit and Biblical truths, this is a nice historical fiction book.

Thanks to the author, Bethany House, and NetGalley for the ARC.
* Important note. This is one series where it would be _very_ helpful to read in order. Plenty of references to previous plot points left me confused, and I had a hard time keeping characters straight—or, frankly, invested in Harriet in particular. I really didn’t care for her as a protagonist.
Other than that, good book. We will buy it for our library. Just be sure you read this series in order.

Harriet and Jonas are a wonderful couple that come from different backgrounds. Will they be able to get past these differences as they become friends and maybe even more. Both of these characters have secrets and must decide if they can trust each other and get past these secrets. This made me laugh and sometimes cry. I did not want to put the book down. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

I could not wait to get my hands on this book. I have enjoyed every novel I have read by Hunter, and knew this one wasn’t going to be an exception. I first met the main characters in Winning the Gentleman. I loved every moment I spent with them, and couldn’t wait to get to see them again. Jonas is super unique, and I was dying to get to know him on a deeper level. His love for his sister is evident in everything he does, but when will he put himself first? There isn’t a harder worker than he is, but working all the time gives him no free time to explore what his real passions might be. I love that his sister Sophia sees that he needs more than just the satisfaction of a hard days work, and decides to do something about it.

Harriet has been known to get things done. Her meddling helped Sophia land the man of her dreams, and Sophia knows she’s the woman to help. Little does she know Jonas isn’t Harriet’s biggest fan, and doesn’t trust a word she says. I loved watching Jonas and Harriets’ interactions, neither knowing what to expect from the other. Kristi Ann Hunter kept my interest the whole time and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Romance. This was an interesting match. I wondered how Kristi would be able to bring these two very different people together into a romance.

I will say this wasn’t my favorite book I have read by Kristi, for some reason I just didn’t get absorb in the story like I normally would but it was still good and still well done. Just wasn’t my favorite.

It is always fun to meet up with previous characters in Kristi’s story. She has create a great cast that are all so kind to each other.

A copy of this book was given to me through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Jonas has spent most of his life taking care of his sister. When she no longer needs his help, he doesn't really know what he wants to do with his life. Sophia, with the help of Harriet, has plans to change that. Jonas thinks Harriet is a bit of a busy body, trying to manipulate people to do what she thinks is best. Yet somewhere along the way, his view of her changes. As they are thrown together, he teaches her to see the beauty in the everyday things like walking in a stream.

I enjoyed this book. It was interesting seeing Jonas and Harriet both gaining insight into their hearts and minds. They have some fabulous friends who support them no matter what. I enjoyed seeing them trying to figure out the difference in their stations in life and where they belong.

Thank you to Bethany House for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Enchanting the Heiress was written by Kristi Ann Hunter and is the third book in the Hearts on the Heath series. It is not necessary to have read the previous books in order to read this one.

Summary: Miss Harriet Hancock is determined to use her good fortune to help others-even when they don’t know they need her help.

Jonas Fitzroy is determined to keep Miss Hancock from ruling his sister’s life.

Can the two find their way to each other even when the path is covered in deceit and lies?

My Thoughts: I didn’t care for this book. Which is a shame, because I really like the author. The main characters just weren’t that likeable. She is a spoiled liar and a schemer that thinks she knows better than everyone else, and he is a recluse that doesn’t want to get close to anyone.

Jonas and Harriet were very far apart in character to fall in love, and even though that got bridged somewhat by the end of the book with both of them changing their personalities and habits, it was still difficult to buy as a reader. And, it somehow ended up working out even though she uses Jonas and lies to him throughout almost the entire book. And it was a lie that wasn’t life or death either, it was a pretty selfish lie.

I just couldn’t get into it. Definitely disappointed with this one, which is a bummer.

I will still read more books by this author, because I really like her, but this book was just not for me.

I would like to thank Bethany House for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you!
