This book was sooooooo good. The writing had me in a chokehold from page one and I really thought this was a great work of art. Often these types of books become repetitive and become dull but not this writer. Audreys writing brings something new to the table in this genre and would love to read more books by her.

I struggled to get into this book at first trying to find what the story was about. Once I got going though I could not put it down. What a truly unique story.

This work of fiction was hard going. Violence, vegetarianism, a disconnected marriage, self harm, love, neglect, parenting & innocence coexist. Where does all these conflicting emotions begin & end ? A internet child influencer with a huge social following  becomes untangled when she follows a dream. A father leaves for a week of hunting, with these matters unfolding & doesn’t answer his phone. Does he even care?

Lilac has inner demons  she won’t discuss with her parents or a child psychologist. Date rape drugs, violence & abuse towards men & women is highlighted and how some fight back without the backing of  law enforcement. Everyone follows the path of their own outrage & morals.  Will everyone be at peace with what happens?

Audrey Destin can write thought provoking novels. (This one has nothing to do with food).

I'll admit, when I first read the title of this book, I was a little skeptical. I had no idea what it was about. But as the saying goes "never judge a book by its cover" or title, applies here. I enjoyed the fast pacing of this book and the multiple POVs. I also loved the daughter's name, Liliac. It is definitely a book I'd recommend, especially to those that have a teenage daughter.

Amazing!! This book was so hard to put down I just had to stay up late and finish it. This book is powerful, honest, real, scary eye opening and brings awareness to everything that is happening now and generations ago. The things women face in abuse. This is so powerful and gripping. I could not put it down because of all the suspense and worry. Every woman and teen must read this. You have to be aware, prepared and never too close to your prey, you are a huntress. You are a savage! Woman are stronger in numbers, also, you are not alone.

This is one of those books where you must read the authors note.

Thank you Audrey Destin and netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review

This book is tricky to review, i had trouble reading it in the beginning with all the hunting of animals, which was disturbing to me, I get why she did it that way but again disturbing to me. It was a story of a mother and a daughter, of the violence done to girls and women daily and them fighting back. that was satisfying and there was a strong marriage and some humor. The "coincidence" towards the 2/3 part seemed too much of reach

Following the BookTok community has led me to many wonderful Indie Authors. I was super excited when Audrey mentioned that her book was posted NetGalley and immediately jumped over to request. However, admittedly, I was nervous to read and review... because what if it's awful. Do I keep following her on BookTok? Well, thank goodness the book is amazing and I'll never have to worry about that again! I could not stop reading once the plot thickened and had to know how it ended. Loved adding a 5 - star read to my list as the year comes to an end!

"Still, that's what Mothers are for, I guess. Be the wind beneath their children's wings. Even after they've forgotten their wings need wind, too."

I was originally drawn to this book due to the title. I, myself, am a long time vegetarian and my partner is not! I thought perhaps I could find this relatable!
I did, in fact, find this very relatable - but not even for the all reasons I thought I would!

This is an amazing story of a Mother/Daughter bond between Samantha (Mom) and Lilac. Being the mother of a teenage daughter, especially one who is heavily involved in the social media influencer life, proves to be challenging. Samantha has a lot of her own issues from that past that have guarded her along with currently health issues that keep her occupied. She resents her husbands carnivorous lifestyle choices and her daughter is near famous-she doesn't need Samantha anymore, right!?
Still, Samantha considers herself to be a good parent and wife; doing what she can to keep it together.
Lilac, although in the public eye with over a million followers, often feels alone and forgotten about, like a ghost in her own home. She feels so much pressure to keep up her image online, yet she can't even get her parents to acknowledge her existence.

One night, when Lilacs cry for attention goes too far, Samantha begins to question everything.

This is a book with a very powerful message - to both mothers and teenage girls.
I also loved the Authors note at the end, explaining why she wrote this book. I think many of us can relate a story like this. Do we really know the ones we love? Who can we trust?

The Vegetarian and Her Hunter
by Audrey Destin
I enjoyed the book. It shows female power and the females getting their revenge. Pretty power writing and storyline as well. Cheered the ladies on.

I would like to thank the author for providing me with an early copy of her work for my honest review.

As an avid thriller I found this story very enjoyable. The pacing is fast and I was able to consume the whole book in one sitting. I just couldn't put it down.

While I am not a fan of multiple POV, I have to say it fit well with this story and was written beautifully. It was very refreshing to see the characters get revenge for the particular incidents that occurred in this book. The personal growth coming through in this story was a welcomed change to this genre and stories such as this.

However if you are triggerd by rape/abuse/adoption this may not be the right fit for you.
