A Fatal Family Feast by Lynn Cahoon is the sixth full length novel in the cozy Farm-to-Fork Mystery series which also has three companion novellas. As with most cozy mystery series each book of the Farm-to-Fork Mystery series can be read as a standalone if choosing to do so as each contains it’s own mystery solved by the end of the book. However, there is always a bit of character building within each read that carries over from book to book for those that follow the series from the beginning.

In this series Angie Turner has moved back to her hometown in rural Idaho after her grandmother’s passing and opened up a new restaurant, the County Seat. Angie’s restaurant has really taken off in the small town offering fresh ingredients straight from the surrounding farms. Angie has also gotten pretty good at solving the murders that keep turning up in the area although she keeps hoping to be done with her crime solving.

This time around Angie is preparing for the wedding of Angie’s best friend and business partner, Felicia Williams and Angie’s sous chef, Estebe Blackstone. Everyone at the County Seat are like family to Angie so of course she wanted to host the nuptials. But unfortunately just for the wedding Felicia’s ex comes to town trying to win her back and the next thing they all know is he is found murdered putting Estebe at the top of the suspect list.

The cozy Farm-to-Fork Mystery series is one that I have followed from the beginning being a fan of the author and her books. This series has all the ingredients I love in a cozy being full of humor, likable characters, some cute critters and an always engaging mystery. After six full length books and 3 novellas I feel like I’m returning to family in this series and after all of that time this felt like one of the best of the series so of course I will continue to return as long as the author does.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

A Fatal Family Feast is already the sixth book in Lynn Cahoon’s Farm-to-Fork mystery series, and it is beginning to feel like home. This book does not disappoint, bringing us a clever mystery along with both charming hometown characters and characters you love to hate.

Angie Turner, owner of the County Seat, wants the upcoming nuptials of her business partner, Felicia Williams, and her talented sous chef, Estebe Blackstone, to come off without a hitch. The bride’s parents, however, have another thought in mind, descending on the small Idaho town intending to convince Felicia to return home to the family business. Also arriving is Felicia’s ex-fiancé, Jason, who likewise is determined to derail the wedding. But when Jason ends up dead, Estebe becomes the prime suspect. Can Angie clear his name in time for Felicia to have her happily ever after?

One thing I really enjoy about this series are its people. Angie, her boyfriend Ian, and Estebe in particular are resourceful and empathetic characters whose down-home charm is instantly relatable. Even Felicia (who appeared superfluous in the first couple of books) has grown on me, especially in this book where she garners much sympathy for her plight. The mystery, too, is top-notch, with several unexpected twists and turns to keep you guessing. The suspects, too, include a good number of “bad guys” with evil motives. The wedding aspect puts additional pressure on Angie to solve the case and ups the ante for all involved.

All told, A Fatal Family Feast is a cozy mystery at its finest, with enough mystery – and enough cozy – to keep you reading beside the fire on a cold winter night.

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of A FATAL FAMILY FEAST (Book 6 of the Farm-to-Fork Mysteries), by Lynn Cahoon, in exchange for an honest review. The wedding of Felicia Williams to Estebe Blackstone is rapidly approaching when drama with Felicia’s estranged family leads to questions about whether the nuptials will actually take place.

I liked this book and enjoy the series. I recommend this series to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, food, and restaurants.

A Fatal Family Feast is number six in the Farm to Fork series by Lynn Cahoon. Felicia and Estebe are finally getting married. They have chosen Felicia and Angie’s restaurant, The County Seat to hold the wedding. Andie is determined that the day will be special and memorable for her friends. Unfortunately, Felicia’s family aren’t on board with the wedding. Felicia has separated herself from her family for reasons that become apparent. Felicia’s father sends her ex-fiancé (who just happens to be her father’s number two employee) to persuade Felicia to change her mind. Things heat up when Estebe is suspected in a murder. Felicia’s parents and her half brother show up to cause her more grief.
I enjoyed this book as much as I have enjoyed the other five installments of this series. They are stand alone books so don’t worry about starting with number six. The book is a quick read and definitely fits the definition of a cozy mystery. Just right for these winter nights.

A Fatal Family Feast
Farm-To-Fork Mystery, Book #6

5 Stars

Synopsis:

Angie Turner’s Idaho restaurant, the County Seat, is the perfect site for a picturesque country wedding, but the party planning skids to a halt when the groom-to-be is implicated in a murder investigation…

When Angie’s best friend and business partner, Felicia Williams, picks the County Seat to host her upcoming nuptials, Angie wants it to feel like a family affair--especially since Felicia is set to marry the farm-to-fork restaurant’s talented sous chef, Estebe Blackstone. Unfortunately, the bride’s actual family is far less enthusiastic about the union. They’re pulling out all the stops to cancel the couple’s wedding, even arranging for a surprise visit from Felicia’s ex-fiancé (and her father’s current lackey). But when her ex is killed days before the ceremony and Estebe is framed for the crime, Angie and the County Seat crew must scramble to solve the murder and save the wedding . . .(Amazon)

Review:

The characters are well developed and well rounded. Everyone one at the County Seat is very excited about the upcoming wedding between Felicia and Estebe. But Felicia’s family is not too thrilled and will do what they can to keep it from happening. They even have Felicity’s ex-fiance try to talk her out of it. When he is killed, Estebe is a person of interest. Angie and Felicia have to find the killer before the groom is put behind bars. Angie, Felicia and the Scooby gang have their work cut out for them.

The writing style flows smoothly and it defines the characters very clearly by their action and words. The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and these descriptions pulled me into the story from the very beginning. The mystery is well plotted and there were enough suspects to consider and clues to sift through.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. Read this book and find out if there is going ti be a wedding or not.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher, Kensington Books, and NetGalley, which I greatly appreciate.

This series has characters you truly want to hang out with again and again and enjoy delicious food. An entertaining read that lets you get to know some characters better and shows once again why family can always mess up something.

I love this series. It was fun hanging out with Angie, Felicia, Ian and Estebe again. Oh, I can’t forget Dom, Precious and Mabel. These characters are great as is the storyline. Family can often times make life interesting, as you will see in this story. I can’t wait to visit River Vista and The County Seat again. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Much to Angie Turner’s dismay her best friend Felicia Williams’s wedding may not happen. Her parents have determined that her intended is beneath her status and that they feel her ex is much better suited to her, their family, and their business. Felicia is over the moon in love with sous chef, Estebe Blackstone and she is not going to let her parent’s wishes delay her nuptials. Then her ex-fiancé is found dead and all the evidence points to her beloved. To make sure the wedding goes off without a hitch Felicia’s work-family pulls together to save her wedding and reveal the true killer. But Angie may have pushed the murderer too far . . . will she survive to see her BFF walk down the aisle.

Ms. Cahoon was written a very tangled web of a story in A Fatal Family Feast. It has a slow build as we are introduced to several new characters, mainly Felicia’s family and her ex. They are a determined bunch and for the most part totally unlikable. But darn it, Estebe really keeps his cool even with all he is up against. The author really allows readers to get to know him better. We even get to meet his family. I hope they pop up often in future stories because they all have a great sense of themselves and a great sense of humor. We also meet some new employees at the County Seat. They all seem to fit well into the existing team but there soon appears to be one very bad apple in the bunch.

Angie and Felicia have their hands full with the restaurant, the wedding, and now a murder but they do carve out just a little bit of time for some fun pre-wedding traditions. I really enjoy the way these characters grow in every story. Through the dire situations they get involved in their friendship just gets stronger and stronger. We also spend plenty of time at Angie’s farm with her animals and her relationship with Ian is definitely moving right along. These core characters along with Estebe are so relatable and fun in their own ways. It is a joy to eavesdrop on their lives.

The mystery this time is a tough one for the Scooby Gang. The pace really picks up after the murder. Angie’s determination really knew no bounds. As the wedding day approached Angie was really dealing with a lot and Ian was a terrific helpmate. His uncle Sheriff Allen Brown really impressed me too for the part he played. There were plenty of twists leading up to the amazing and scary reveal. I had pinpointed the killer a bit earlier but that scene had me positively riveted to the pages.

A Fatal Family Feast was an absolutely sensational read. The mystery was great, the characters are stellar, and the ending was so darn wonderful. I can hardly wait for the next book to be released.

A solid installment of the Farm-To-Fork series. I liked the storyline with Felicia and Esteban's wedding, and the mystery fits well with the wedding arc. The mystery is good and I liked the way Angie, Felicia, Ian and Esteban work together to try to solve it. The pieces of how it comes together is entertaining and a good ending to the story. Looking forward to my next visit!

The Farm To Fork cozy mystery series is a fun one. The more books I read by this author the more I want to read.
The author makes the well developed characters come to life within the pages. In this one we have a delightful wedding planned and when the brides' family comes to it they are not happy. She should still be with the ex-boyfriend they think and they give her grief.
When the ex is found dead it's assumed to be the groom to be. Will his name be able to be cleared in time? Kept my attention from the first page.

I really enjoy the Farm-to-Fork Mystery series and this one was the best one yet. Angie Turner and her best friend Felicia Williams own The County Seat, a Farm to Fork restaurant. Felicia is getting married to one of their sous chef, Estebe Blackstone. Unfortunately, her parents are not happy about the upcoming nuptials. They send Felicia's ex, and second in command at her parent's business to Boise Idaho, to try and win her back so she will call off the wedding. Instead of winning her back, he ends up dead and Estebe is the main suspect in his death. If they want the wedding and honeymoon to happen, they need to find another suspect to get Estebe off the hook. With all this going one, someone is vandalizing the restaurant and setting up Estebe for the murder. Felicia is also dealing with her parents refusal to attend her wedding. Can they find out who murdered Jason?

I really like the main characters in this series. Many of them work together at the restaurant, the others are family and friends. Angie is such a strong and smart person. She is loyal, friendly and such a wonderful part of the community. She does take risks when it comes to helping her friends, but fortunately, she manages to get out of trouble with some help. This was a great mystery, with lots of twists and clues to follow. It was pretty obvious who the killer was but finding proof, motive and catching the murderer was the interesting part of the story. With all this going on, there are great scenes at the restaurant, scenes with family and friends and pre-wedding parties and activities that added humor and fleshed out the story. This was a great addition to the series and I am looking forward to what is next for Angie, Ian and the rest of the cast.

There's a great deal going on in "The Fatal Family Feast". Main character Angie's business partner Felicity is getting married. Angie is Maid-of-Honor. Head chef Estebe is the groom-to-be. That means shuffling work schedules and bringing in temporary help which upsets the dynamics of the workplace.

In the meantime, there has been a murder and Estebe is the main suspect. The murder victim? Felicity's former boyfriend, Jason, a man her father had pegged to take over the family business. All this before the restaurant is even vandalized. What next? Who killed Jason and why? Why is Felicity's father refusing to walk her down the aisle?

I won't say any more about the plot as it'll be detailed elsewhere but I particularly enjoyed the side stories about the characters' past and inter-connections, particularly the one involving a foster child. These little revelations helped make them more real to the reader and made you care that much more about their lives and futures.

Bottom line, this is really a story that is as much about family as it is a murder investigation. Watching Angie pull in clues and information from various sources is only half the fun, of course, as there is also that wedding and boyfriend Ian is thinking that he'd like her to meet his family in England. What does this all mean for Angie? I'm not telling. You'll need to read the book to find out.

Thank you #NetGalley and #KensingtonBooks for letting me reenter Angie's world once again with the ARC.

A Fatal Family Feast by Lynn Cahoon is the 6th book in the Farm to Fork Mystery series, and another great addition to the series. Angie Turner is busy with her restaurant, The County Seat, a farm to fork restaurant in Idaho. Angie is busy preparing the County Seat for the upcoming wedding of her partner Felicia and her sous chef Estebe. Unfortunately Felicia family is not supporting the union and wants Felicia to marry her old boyfriend. When the ex boyfriend is found murdered, Estebe is being framed, so Angie is looking into the murder, hoping to clear Estebe before the wedding. Once I started this book I could not stop reading it. It was a quick read that kept me guessing. I look forward to the next book in the series. I recommend this book/series for all the cozy mystery book lovers, you will not be disappointed.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I have loved the books in the Farm-to-Fork series and this one does not disappoint. The characters are well developed and I enjoy the relationships that have evolved. This book will grab you from the first page and the murder mystery will keep you invested in the story. There are great clues sprinkled throughout the pages. You can’t help but cheer on the Scooby Team as they do their best to prove Estebe’s innocence and discover who is guilty of the crime. I can’t wait for the next adventure with Angie, Ian, Felicia, and Estebe and the rest of the County Seat gang.

Angie is excited to hold her best friends wedding at their restaurant the County Seat. Felicia will be marrying their head cook Estebe and the future looks bright for the two of them. Things take a turn when Felicia's family arrives into town, none are happy about the marriage. Angie soon realizes they will do just about anything to keep the couple from getting married. They even go as low as to bring her ex into town. When the ex is found murdered and the groom is the main suspect it looks as if a wedding might not happen. Angie and her crew will not stop until they figure out who the killer is and make sure that a wedding does happen.

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Publishing Corp. for a copy of "A Fatal Family Feast" in exchange for my honest review.

This is the sixth book in the 'Farm-to-Fork' series and a wonderful addition. Angie Turner of the County Seat is helping her friend Felicia Williams prepare for her wedding to Estebe Blackstone. Of course no story involving Angie will go without a murder and her need to investigate.

Felicia is also stressing because her parents don't approve of the bridegroom and want her to marry someone of their choosing. Will the wedding even happen after the police accuse a member of the wedding party of murder? As always Angie manages to place herself in danger to save others around her.

The zoo play a prominent role in this book, especially Dom, the Saint Bernard - as well as Precious, the goat and Mabel the hen. Ian McNeal may have a special surprise in this book for Angie and it involves meeting his mother in England, finally.

Looking forward to the next installment in this brilliant series. Worth many more than 5 stars.

Even though I have only read four other books (there are nine in total so far including the related novellas) in Lynn Cahoon's Farm-to-Fork Mystery series set in a restaurant, 'The County Seat' in Idaho, I still jumped at the opportunity to read this one, A Fatal Family Feast as I enjoy a well written cosy, and this looked like it fitted the bill.

Angie Turner runs her own restaurant alongside her best friend, Felicia Williams. In this story, Felicia chooses The County Seat as the venue for her marriage to Estebe Blackstone. However, the bride's wealthy family aren't happy with Felicia's choice of hubby, even going so far in their sabotage attempts of the wedding to organise a surprise for her in the form of her ex-fiancé, Jason Anderson Roberts the Third. When Jason turns up dead, Estebe is the number one suspect.

Although there is some character building in these stories I had no difficulties keeping up with characters and events, and this book can be enjoyed as an individual instalment. The plot was fun and lively and Mabel and Dom, Angie's St Bernard dog have really won my heart. A compelling tale, there was a very strong family theme running throughout, together with a heavy focus on other relationships and friendships. Events moved along at a comfortable pace and the mystery itself was fantastic with the ending turning out to be very interesting. I had a blast reading this highly amusing and entertaining cozy mystery and I'm already looking forward to catching up with Angie and her cohorts in the next book as well as grabbing copies of the books I've missed.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Kensington Books, Lyrical Press via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

A Fatal Family Feast earns 5/5 Wedding Woes…Engaging Page-Turner!

Angie Turner is excited about the upcoming nuptials between her BFF Felicia Williams and her sous chef Estebe Blackstone, but Felicia’s wealthy Boston family had an unwavering idea of the type of man she should marry, and despite the groom’s financial security, his Basque heritage and working-class employment doesn’t fit. The family agrees to attend, but Felicia is upset that the father refuses to walk her down the aisle and sent her former fiancé to intimidate her to cancel the ceremony and return to Boston even floating the idea of starting up again with the ex. So who gets blamed when Mr. Suit and Tie is found murdered; circumstances point to the groom!

Lynn Cahoon’s sixth novel in her Farm-to-Fork Mystery immediately ramps up the drama with family dissension, veiled threats and personal insults flying, and questions whether the wedding will even happen when the groom comes under suspicion of murder. A challenge to my inner detective, other motives are connected to the death of Felicia’s ex since his “fix-it” employment with Felicia’s father might raise some interesting conflicts along with surprising connections and past tragedies. The lead detective holds a longtime grudge against Estebe, so his myopic focus sees little else, giving Angie, of course, personal motivation to insert herself, and the “Scooby-Doo gang,” into the case. The well-plotted story is quite compelling with characters I’ve come to enjoy under such a dark cloud, an air of prejudice against the local Basque community, and some perilous predicaments culminating in a shocking twist to the age-old motive of…revenge. Engaging. Compelling. Page-turner. Delicious…recipe included. It’s been another long busy day, but a nice meal is just minutes away. Enjoy Lynn Cahoon’s Workday Quick and Easy Risotto.

This is quickly becoming one of my favorites series and definitely a comfort read. I always know I’ll get a well plotted mystery with characters that are so welcoming, they really do feel like family. And now, there’s a wedding to sweeten the deal. I really enjoyed this latest visit to the County Seat. Through the wedding, we got to meet more of Estebe’s large family, and some of Felicia’s, and with all their future plans laid out at the end of this one, I can’t wait to see what happens next.
