Failure To Fire was a difficult read for me. The presentation of the story in varied segments made it difficult to get into. The author, Marc Liebman, is wanting to make a case that MANPADS are more of a terrorist danger than is recognized, yet he tells a story where the forces against terror actually stop them. He does hint that two of them are being held in abeyance by terrorists. I don't think his approach is the best way to make his point. Conceding that I read an advance review copy, the book is littered with typos and grammatical mistakes.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.

A solid thriller in the grand tradition of Robert Ludlum or Tom Clancy, which means a narrative that has next to no character development but with a plot structure so strong and propulsive that you don't really care.

I must, however, point out two significant flaws in the version I read. First, it Is littered with typos, missing words, and other obvious errors. That's a shame. This is too good a book to be marred by slopping editing. Second, there is a kinky sex subplot that is so silly and gratuitous that it is both stupid and embarrassing. Those chapters could simply be cut out and thrown away since they have so little to do with the main narrative line and it would improve the novel considerably.

Overall, highly recommended. Get rid of the dumb subplot, fix the editing, and it's five stars all the way.
