Thank you for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely love the cover of this book! It is such a nice eye-catcher. I feel like I would have enjoyed this book more in summer, but it was a nice read nevertheless! The story felt quite slow to me but it is a nice one to escape in!

What a beautiful sunny cover, very eye catching! The story follows Jae who wants to escape her hectic life and heartbreak in Miami so takes a trip to Bali. There she meets some great friends and explores the way her life is going. She also meets Alistair who soon becomes a key part of the story. I loved this book. It was easy to read and I recommend you pick up a copy for yourself!

I really enjoyed a Sunrise over Bali – a real escapism story!
Jaelee has a fantastic career, good friends and a nice condo but she’s extremely unhappy and unsatisfied following a breakup causing her to want time out of her busy usual day to day life.
She makes a huge spur of the moment totally out of character decision to take a two month sabbatical and jet off to Bali in search of herself!
Over the course of her stay, she meets some great new friends and a particularly handsome Scot.
This novel feature friendship, romance and laughter and is a real joy to read.
I really enjoyed getting to know Jaelee’s new friends and her journey of finding her true self.
I’ve never been to Bali but I feel like I have thanks to Sandy Barker and her writing which just made me feel like I’d been transported there.
A perfect summer read.

Another fantastic book by Sandy.
So wonderful to escape the gloom and cold of England in January to go to Bali on an adventure!
Fantastic characters, gorgeous location and some lovely moments of pure emotions kept me avidly reading this beautiful book!

This is a lovely feel-good romance, whisking the reader away to sunny, relaxing Bali – just what we all need in these lockdown times! I enjoyed spending time there vicariously with the heroine, Jaelee, and I fell in love with the hot Scottish hero alongside her. What’s not to like about an auburn-haired gorgeous guy with a man-bun? Especially one as caring and wonderful as Alistair. There is a more serious theme to the book as well – how important it is to take a step back sometimes, find yourself and decide what you really want. Life is too short to just be chasing the next promotion or doing what is expected of you, rather than what makes you happy. We should all take a breather sometimes, like Jaelee does, and just be!

The perfect book for these cold winter days that leave you craving a tropical vacation! I loved the descriptions in this one, instantly sucked into the gorgeous Ball setting and culture! Unfortunately, I was NOT a fan of the MC. She came across as unrelatable and unlike able for the majority of this book.

This was my third Sandy Barker read and the third one that I really enjoyed. So much even that I've already scoured the internet multiple evenings to price up trips to Bali. I read this book in one sitting. It's such a fun, feel-good and quick read! I thought Jaelee was such a strong woman for just quitting her job to decide and stay in Bali for two months. Isn't that the dream for everyone at some point? Definitely recommend this book! I rate it 4/5 stars.

Well where do I start. A beautiful story but so slow to get going. It was a review copy or I might have given up. Then suddenly bang and I couldn’t put it down. There was love, finding your self, new friends, good food and drink . Interesting characters . Beautiful setting Bali. Then London and Edinburgh.. Also learning to tell people you love them.. Read it

Jaelee Tan is all the things her mother wanted her to be, only, she’s miserable. So miserable that she is leaving her job and heading off on sabbatical to Bali, the magical land of introspection, for two months.

I picked up this book purely based on the cover, and it didn't disappoint. I felt the more you read of Jaelee’s story, the more you grew to care for her and empathize with her. Let's be honest, if we weren't over an ex and saw him and his new bride walk into the same party, how gracefully would we handle ourselves? I’m like Jaelee and don’t care for man buns either, but somehow (gasp) I fell for Alistair. I watched him through her eyes as he progressed from Mr Man Bun to the Hot Scot ashes called him. Jaelee and Alistar definitely have great chemistry there were some times where I felt like it was moving too slow. But as the reader you are always cheering them on to overcome the oppositions against them.

All in all, a solid 4 star read. A perfect summer beach read that has you dreaming of tropical locations and laughing.

“A sunrise over bali”
by Sandy Baker

3.75/5 stars! ✨

Thank you NetGalley, Sandy Baker and HarperCollins UK for sending me an ARC for a honest review!

Oh Jae, can we please switch places? 😩 a Romance book set in the beautiful Thailand, full of mentions to great views, drinks, foods and hot men. Literally WHAT ELSE could you want??

This book was extremely light and quick, I loved reading it and probably would have enjoyed it even more if if was summer! Literally the perfect vacation vibes.

I will definitely read the other books from this author, as I love traveling and fun main characters like Jae is. Makes everything oh so much lighter.

If you’re looking for a book to steal your heart, that feels like bathing in warm sunlight as a cool breeze moves your hair left and right… this is the book for you! ❤️

When corporate PR expert Jae leaves Miami for a well-earned sabbatical in Bali, she doesn't realize that she has set in motion a tremendous shift in her life plan. She joins a communal retreat for "digital nomads"--a lifestyle that is a far cry from her usual pampered and high-powered one. During her 60-day stay, she quits her job to set up her own business, develops unexpected friendships that transcend age, gender, and worldview, and even finds romance with a guy who's not her usual type. The characters are amusing, interesting, and well fleshed out, and the setting is an unusual one that adds intrigue to the story. The relationships between Jae and her new friends develop believably as she learns to live in the moment rather than giving in to her anxious nature with its incessant worries about tomorrow. Jae even finds the strength to confront her controlling mother and to develop relationships with her new boyfriend's family when she makes a visit to Scotland--another trip that takes her out of her comfort zone and redirects her life. This is an entertaining light read with engaging characters.

This was an endlessly entertaining, enjoyable, and relatable tale with well-fleshed characters and an interesting story.
This is a great story and the way the author weaves the story is amazing.

The author was new to me yet her smooth and relaxed writing style felt immediately comfortable, pleasantly familiar, and easy to follow.
This was pure escapism from start to finish and I greatly enjoyed every last word of this book.
A fun and entertaining good time read, from a writer who always offers an escapist delight.
This book is beautifully written with vivid descriptions and stunning surroundings I was absolutely captivated throughout.
The cover and the synopsis work perfectly with the storyline.

One More Chapter,

I was provided an ARC by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and words are my own,

So in my initial request for this book I was immediately captured by the AWESOME cover. A Sunrise over Bali looks like an essential upcoming spring break beach read just based on the cover and blurb. Seriously, who wouldn't jump at the chance to do a sabbatical in Bali if faced with the opportunity?

Sandy does a great job of making the readers feel empathetic for Jaelee in her journey to self discovery and putting herself first. I definitely felt like you're meant to learn to love Jaelee the farther you get into the book-so don't let her initially turn you off in the beginning! (and honestly if any of us ever ran into our ex in the same circumstances-would we really do much different?)

Jaelee and Alistar def have great chemistry-but I will say there were some times where I felt like it was moving too slow-BUT if you're a sucker for a slow burn then its right up your alley. The reader is always cheering them on to overcome the battles against them.

All in all, a solid 4 star read. A MUST HAVE beach read that has you dreaming of tropical locations and laughing the whole way.

Jaelee Tan is a likable and honest character just trying to figure out where she fits into her world and what she wants her world to look like. Good story, good character development and progression. Moves slow. Good lazy summer read.

Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins for the ARC.

Lovely book, funny thing was that a friend of mine has been to Bali a few years ago and she almost said the same things about the island. Easy read, very entertaining, definitely something for when one is one holiday, may that be Bali or Scotland...

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.

Jaelee Tan finds herself on a 2 month sabbatical in Bali, booked on the spur of the moment after a run in with her best friend. The people she meets, the places she visits, the whole experience - will Jae find what she's looking for?

The descriptions of Bali are fantastically well written, I could clearly imagine myself in the book. The author clearly drew on her own experience of the country, and her love for it was obvious!

As much as I loved Alistair, Peta and Helena, I struggled to warm to the lead character. It took a good half of the story before I felt any kind of sympathy for her, and although I appreciate that's probably what the author wanted, it did put me off a bit. I will admit to feeling far more comfortable with her by the end though!

A good read for a cold spell in the UK - enjoyed escaping to the Bali warmth!

I picked this book to read purely on the cover, it's so eye catching and pretty. That makes me a bit superficial, especially as romance isn't usually my genre, but I have to admit, I work in travel, so the promise of a book set in Bali also appealed, especially right now as we can't travel there!
I delved right in on a cold January night and boy was this an absolutely perfect choice to warm me up!
The descriptions of the setting made me feel like I was there, which makes me confident the author was drawing on her own holiday experience, that's just something that can't be faked. Nothing worse than reading a book and knowing a certain detail about a place is wrong, so that got me more invested in the storyline.
I enjoyed Jaelee's friendships, (even though i found Ali annoying), and the descriptions of the people she met. Her storyline was lovely to read as well, turning something like a career break, which is very daunting and uncertain, into something very positive was quite inspiring and uplifting too.
I've looked into the author's other books and they seem like a similar vibe so count me in as a new fan!
