This audiobook was very well done. The music helps to set the tone and reflects the moods of the story. After hearing the author’s note it gives even more context to why the background music makes the reader feel like they are in the middle of Harlem listening to live Jazz. This detail helps to give light to the inspiration of the book. Aaron Slater is inspired by the real life of Aaron Douglas Slater, a key figure in the Harlem Renaissance. The narrator is upbeat and perfect for this story. I really enjoyed this audiobook.

This may be my favorite book in the series to date. Aaron Slater's tale is perfect to read in the earliest grades because it will show kids that there are different kinds of learners who may struggle with some things, but thrive in other fields. I know that Aaron Slater will foster empathy in students and teachers alike,

I love this author and her books. Her illustrations are phenomenal but more important the timing of her rhymes is spot on which is an extremely difficult thing to do, and every story has a blessing in it. Not just the lesson but a blessing and something that not just affects children and how they see the world and themselves, but also effects us as adults and parents reading these books and reminding us of the beauty among the ashes.

I don't know about you but I could use those reminders.

Thank you #netgalley and #AndreaBeaty for sharing with us your book and your heart wish you so clearly put into each one of your books.

I can not say enough about this book. This is the prefect book for any elementary classroom and library.
For the kids who are dyslexic, it shows there is nothing wrong , you just learn different. Andrea Beaty did
an awesome job as always. Thank you Netgalley for sharing this book with me!

I loved this recording! As a mother, I loved when I can engage my children with an audiobook on nights I want to lay with my child, and I just don’t want to read out loud. I immediately noticed the music in the background and thought it was a classy addition. It wasn’t until the writer’s note that I knew the significance of the particular music selection. Interestingly, the illustrator’s note was longer than other Beaty stories. The note from Roberts was the chef’s kiss to a great story encapsulating normalizing issues surrounding dyslexia and young readers. As a librarian, I thoroughly enjoyed that notion for collection management.

What a fabulous, inspirational story of a child overcoming challenges to pursue his dreams of sharing stories told in whimsical verse. Accompanying jazz and background noises help set the scene and give the this fanciful character's story more depth. Packed with a heartwarming message, "Aaron Slater, Illustrator" will help inspire kids that struggle with language processing. The narrator does a great job reading the lines with rich emotion and bringing out the personalities of the handful of characters. This is a brilliant audiobook that helps inform listeners about Aaron Douglas, learning difficulties, and how our individual struggles make us and our world all that more special. This is an instant masterpiece!

The narrator did a wonderful job reading this story. His expression in his voice helped keep the listeners attention. This story was very well written and adapted well to being read aloud as an audiobook. This is one that I would definitely like to purchase for my elementary school library!

Andrea Beaty is an auto-buy author for me when it comes to must-have books for my own children and students alike. I adore the rhythmic flow of her prose, gentle background music to match the emotion of each line in the audiobook and the way all children are so capable of success. I love that she brings light to all kinds of learning problems helping children to understand they do not define them and can be worked through to achieve their dreams.

Thank you Dreamscape and Netgalley for allowing me to listen to this gifted copy.

The audio book version of Andrea Beaty's Questioneer's character was such a great accompaniment to the picture book. Fans of Rosie Revere, Engineer will love the latest character, Aaron Slater, Illustrator. The narrator has a melodic, energetic voice which engaged my preschool-aged boys, even without having the picture book to look at. The audio version also has a jazz score that plays in the background as the story is read. At the end, there is a note about the book being inspired by its creator's own battle with dyslexia. I really loved the descriptions of drawings and illustrations that Aaron uses to tell his story since he struggles with dyslexia. This book will be very relatable to anyone who struggles with reading and prefers to create their own story.

Oh my heart! I LOVED Aaron Slater Illustrator! Andrea Beaty has another hit with this series of STEM books.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape for this ARC audiobook. As a mother with a child who has Dyslexia and a Librarian in a K-8 school I loved this book! I cannot wait to see the illustrations and have the book in our school library.
I love when you find a picture book that can gently talk about our differences and encourage those with them as well. It has a powerful message in 40 pages. You will fall in love with Aaron, too.
I loved that they used the Dyslexie font (as they stated in the audiobook).
Narrator - Sullivan Jones 5 STARS, His clear melodically voice was perfect for this audience, I would absolute use this in my youth library. He has a way of entertaining using his voice, this would grab my library students attention immediately.
5 STARS overall
Another hit picture book with a powerful message for Beaty!

Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape media for the audio ARC of this! I read it combined with the ebook from my library so that I could see the art - my daughter and I do this often with books, first to assist with learning to read, but also just when we want the read aloud to go on but my voice cannot 😂

This story was so cute, and the narrator had a lovely, soothing voice to listen to. I loved the learning disability representation, the art, and the happy ending. My 8 year old also enjoyed the book, I thought it was important that the story was written using the dyslexie font, given the content,

5/5 Great kids book!

This is a review of the audiobook version.

I think this is a great audiobook for kids, it has a story that would hold a kid's attention and will teach kids something important. I loved the listing off and describing different learning disabilities at the end of the book and I know I would have loved it so much more as a kid because I didn't have anyone to tell me that my disability didn't mean the end. I think it's so important for kids to know that these issues are normal, they aren't what we usually see as normal but normal does not mean typical. To any parents who have young kids who read this please encourage your kids to give this a read/listen even if they don't have a learning disability, it's so important for them to know that others struggle differently but that doesn't make them aliens who deserve to be treated badly!

Disclaimer: I listened to the arc copy of this on Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an audio copy to listen to and review.

I'm a huge Andrea Beaty fan, although I've never done an audio version. This is a great way to absorb the story and I can't wait to share it with my kids. I like the information at the end of the book on the typeface that was used and the information on Aaron Douglas.

From the catchy music to the fantastic voice acting to the heartwarming message of encouragement to those with dyslexia -- this book is a home run! I loved every little thing about it. I felt carried away on the background music and transported into the story itself. This needs to be added to every school library.

This was a wonderful book about a boy who has dyslexia - it's written in rhyme, and the meter was generally consistent. I listened to the audiobook which is very well-produced with a jazzy background score.

The story and message here are wonderful, and it certainly made me curious to see the actual illustrations too.

I would say that the story is on the longer side and some children may struggle to maintain focus, and some of the words are a bit challenging ("Delphinium").

4.5/5 Stars

I love the soundtrack to this audiobook! It conveys the emotions so well.

The lyrical sound of the story is also musical somehow.

I like the focus on finding your strengths and celebrating them.

This is the first kids picture book I have listened to as an audiobook without having seen the illustrations. I want to see the actual book now! I especially liked the author's notes at the end about dyslexia and learning disabilities. I think that is a message kids need to hear more often. I also liked to learn who the character was based off of and now I want to see that artist's work. Just as an audiobook alone it was ok, but it makes me want to see and know more.

This is a lovely little audio with a sweet message. However, there was absolutely nothing in the description to warn me that this was actually a poem set to music. It was quite jarring and I almost didn’t continue after the first couple seconds, because I was so surprised and unprepared.
Once I was able to stop and refocus, I appreciated the author’s efforts and could see this being a great tool in an elementary school class.
