This was such a gorgeous book. A really lovely 'chat' about how everyones bodies are different, but everyones body is equally valid and that no matter what you are loved and worthy. The illustrations are so lovely as well. A beautiful book with so much meaning and one that should be in every library and school.

I am so glad a book like this exists!
It is so important for kids to realise that being curvy or fat isn't bad, despite anyone saying otherwise.
The rhyming prose of this book made it simple to read. The artwork was stunning, and I loved the mum of this book, too.
A wonderful book for children to learn self love and acceptance.

This children's book has a powerful and much-needed message that each of us are created uniquely and are beautiful in our own way. The flow wasn't as lyrical as children's book tend to be but the message was clear.

Curves Like Mine is beautifully illustrated and has an empowering message. I received a reader's copy from the publisher through NetGalley; a positive review was not required.

"True beauty comes from within, it's your mindset that makes you win". What a beautiful and heartfelt message.

It's our job as parents and educators to help build and encourage our children's self-esteem growth. This is a beautifully illustrated book that talks about learning to love yourself and projecting yourself the right way. We are all beautiful regardless of our shape, color and size, but we have to love ourselves first in order for others to love us as well.

This is an adorable picture book! I love how we're having more and more diverse picture books. Curves Like Mine is about a young girl who starts to realize she is bigger than all the other kids. She starts to feel down and sad, and her mom notices. Her mom encourages her to say positive affirmations in the morning, and this helps the little girl gain confidence.
I love the message of this story so much! I’m so happy to find a picture book that actually talks about something real. I was also really happy that her mom was the one helping her. Hopefully, that will encourage kids to talk to their parents about feeling different. Even though I loved the message of the story, I didn’t enjoy the illustrations as much. I have liked other illustrations more such as Eyes that Kiss in the Corners. While I enjoyed the book, I personally would not recommend someone to do self affirmations. But I still think it was a lovely little book that can be helpful to any little kid who feels different.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.

This book is so important and so necessary for children in todays age. So they can know that they’re beautiful in their uniqueness. I wish I had something like this when I was a kid!

There are very few picture books that promote body positivity so I was delighted when I saw this book on Netgalley. As a teacher I strive to share diverse and positive books with my young class, however after reading this book myself I don't think I'll be buying it. The rhyming feels a little forced at times and by using words such as contrived it distances itself from the reader it's aimed at. The story has a lovely message but it needs to focus on the age range it's aimed at by using accessible language.

I love book about body positive! This short story is written in simple language so that even small children can follow it.
The story is simple, yet it is still adorable and meaningful. This is a nice story about learning to love and accept yourself despite of what others say, since true beauty comes from within. I really like the book's message and the artwork is just stunning.

Positive affirmation in children’s books, yes please!! This (recent) trend of publishing more diverse books is also one that I applaud, I don’t remember seeing anything other than able bodied white kids in my books when I grew up. But this representation is so important, especially in books with a message like this one.

The art style, I love it! It’s so soft, but you can still clearly see the emotions on the girl’s face. My favorite page was the one where the girl was in bed saying “my curves are beautiful” to herself, it’s such a simple page but so lovely.

Overall definitely a recommendation for anyone with small children.

The rhyming felt overwrought to me and perhaps it was a bit heavy handed in its message BUT considering there are so few books promoting body positivity and acceptance for little girls and young readers, I think this book is well worth buying for kids. It's so important for ALL kids to see themselves in book, and I think this book will definitely help promote self-love.

I love the idea behind this book, but the delivery just didn't work. The text is clunky and inconsistent, and the focus so deeply on the immediate negativity for a book targeted at younger kids, it just feels hurtful more than helpful.

I wish I had books like these when I was young, then maybe I wouldn’t have spent (and spend) my life to accept my body and me and love myself as I am. This is just so beautiful, to teach children about self love early is something we should always have been doing. This covers bullying , but also reassurance and how family can support you , leading to self acceptance and loving yourself . The art is so beautiful I would happily read this with any child and share my experiences alongside this.

A huge thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

This is the cutest book with such an important message for all young people, it doesn’t matter what you look like, your beauty within is what truly matters. So many young people, and even adults, struggle with self love and judging themselves too harshly based on comments made by other people and it needs to stop. Every single being is beautiful in their own way, just because one person doesn’t deem you to be beautiful doesn’t mean everyone else won’t either. Love yourself and then watch others love you too.

This little storybook is absolutely adorable. About a young girl who is/has fat. She describes herself as round or curvy, and feels different to others. This book shows her journey from insecurity to learning self love, assisted by her mother.
I loved that not only was this about an overweight child, it was also about a black child. It’s important that everyone is able to see themselves in storybooks and chapter books growing up, to be able to relate to someone with a shared experience. I thought this was done really well and could point children in the right direction of self love. I would definitely read this to my child.

Oh my goodness! As a teacher and a mother I absolutely adore this book. Even as young as kindergarten I see little girls struggling and focusing on how they look. The pressure only gets worse as indicative with all the warped societal ideals as to what a woman's body should look like. Sadly body dysmorphia and eating disorders are so prevalent among young girls. This book embraces body positivity and shows that all shapes are beautiful and learn to accept who we are, as we are all unique and special no matter the size. This is definitely geared for younger readers, but that's the point because as I stated before the pressure for girls to look a certain way starts unfortunately at rather young ages. I highly recommend this book to help children learn to accept and see themselves in a positive light and to help build their self esteem.

Thank you to the author, BooksGoSocial and NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book pitched for a young audience comes across as a bit of an experiment. Content-wise it seems more suited to school-age children, with illustrations showing children in a school setting - but all except the very youngest of school children will find its entertainment value a bit lacking and it's more suited to being read aloud than anything else. Yes, the central message - beauty comes in all shapes and sizes - is crucial for children of all ages, and is very well done, albeit showing one child who is a bit pudgier than the other (freakishly skinny) children. Also, "curves" is not something I would generally associate with the bodies of pre-pubescent children. However, I do think this book could be a valuable tool to help children gain confidence and see personal differences with positivity.

This would be a great book for a young kid struggling with their body image. The rhymes are pretty basic and slowed down the flow of the story, but I'm willing to give it a pass for a kids book. I kind of bristled at the end where the little girl realizes that if she just has confidence, people won't worry about her weight because unfortunately, that's not really true. I would have liked a more nuanced ending, maybe about how her new confidence taught her that even if people still have issues with her, she can rise above.

This was a great story about learning to love and accept yourself despite what others may say because your true beauty comes from within yourself.

Thank you to the publisher, NetGalley and the author for the #gifted arc.

Curves Like Mine is a charmingly illustrated picture book about a girl who is letting other people's opinions about her body affect the way she feels. Her mom makes sure she knows that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, prompting her to carry herself with more confidence, affecting the way her peers treat her. A great story to help all kids appreciate their friends or their personal differences from peers.
