This was an interesting read. You will get a glimpse into the lives of Kay and Lisa Roberston ... wives of the infamous Duck Dynasty dudes. It serves as a book of encouragement, devotions, and a message of forgiveness. You will learn how much the sense of community and support matter in the lives of women.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

This is a review for the book Sister Roar by Kay Robertson and Lisa Robertson, an amazing mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo, and which was recently published.  I am giving my honest review for NetGalley, and I am so honored to be reviewing this amazing book by two of my favorite sisters who love the Lord Jesus, and each other, with a passion that is so contagious!

I chose this book because I am big fans of the authors, and their whole Duck Dynasty family, even though I have never met them, but I wasn't prepared for the difference this book was going to make in my life! After reading it, I walked away feeling that Kay and Lisa are my sisters in Christ, and they love me, and wanted to share with all of their sisters some vital things that are so important to women today, many whom have forgotten they have a voice let alone how to use it to roar, especially with what's going on in our world today.

In this book they shared that women are still a sisterhood, and that in Christ, we are a family, and have a voice, and tell us how they are now roaring because they have been healed, redeemed and restored, and they want the same for all their sisters!  They share their amazing and truthful stories filled with both pain and joy, and how they were able to get through all the situations they found themselves in.  Their stories are real and sometimes painful, but also so filled with hope & redemption, and they tell how God used those situations to restore them personally, their marriages and families, which was done by facing the truth, repentance, love, grace and forgiveness!   In my opinion, they are sharing them so that all women can know that there is still hope in the midst of the pain and suffering, and there is freedom and restoration also thru love and forgiveness, and their stories are a reflection of those truths!  Kay and Lisa have been through a lot, and really love and care about all their sisters, those they know and those they don't know, and so they want to help any of us women that are struggling today, and writing this book was a way they could do just that!

Personally, this book brought out some things in my life that God wanted to address, heal and restore.  Through it He revealed some lies I had been believing, and showed me through the Scriptures they shared, the truth of those lies, and how I could be free of them. I was reminded of how important my relationships with all my sisters (related and not related) are, not just with my friends, but with all women, including my own daughter and daughter-in-law.  God has used some dear women to walk alongside me, and now I want to do the same by sharing my story that includes an amazing testimonies of healing and restoration that God has done in my life!    I've been a Christian a long time, and am still a work in progress, but realize God wants to use my story for His glory like He did the Sister Roar book!

I really felt like Kay and Lisa came alongside me through this book, shared with me the truth, and pointed me to the One who truly helped them, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Through that truth, I was so encouraged, was able to confront some sin in my own life, and fell into the arms of the loving Savior who continues to set me free from the pain and lies that I have experienced! It also inspired me to be courageous, and ask God to give me circumstances where I can share my testimony, and walk alongside those He has placed in my life!  I have found my voice y'all!

One last thing,  Kay and Lisa shared their stories in this book, but it was not to have me look at them, but to point me to Jesus, who could make me find my voice, and help me to roar again, and then help my sisters whom God has placed in my life to do the same!  Oh what joy has filled my heart, mind and soul!  So I highly, highly, highly recommend this book, and give it 5 stars out of 5, and will look for opportunities to use my story to point my sisters to the Savior Jesus Christ, who will help heal and restore them, and help them find their own voices, and proclaim sisters, let's roar!!

This book was very thought provoking. Typically, these types of books get boring to me or I can only take them in small doses. I actually caught myself not wanting to put it down. Also, I want to start a muffin club, but have no idea how to go about it.

This book is hilarious and thought provoking. It will guide you in ways you didn't know you needed guided. It brought up old pains and helped me think and work through them. It also helped me focus on the future and how to show love. Great read

I love Sister Roar by Kay and Lisa Robertson! I’m a big fan of the family and appreciate how they do not back down from God’s Truth, no matter what life throws at them. I love the testimonies of Lisa, Kay, and one of the newest members of the Robertson clan, Phylis. I love the story of forgiveness and acceptance from their testimonies. Their testimonies are proof that God truly forgives and redeems and uses all things for good. I praise God and thank God for this book. I highly recommend this book! Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.

If you have ever read a book by one of the Robertson clan you will be familiar with the layout of this current book as there are many similarities from book to book. Still I enjoyed getting to know Lisa Robertson a little better, and hearing all the trials she has been through in her life and overcome thanks to a loving Savior. This was mostly a concise book of devotion, encouraging us sisters in Christ to never be ashamed to share the gospel, how even if you don't feel you can because you are a nobody or had a bad past, Jesus wants you to just the same. Jesus wants you just the same and can forgive ALL sins. All you have to do is pray for Him to save you, admit you are a sinner in need of a Saviour, that you know He made the ultimate sacrifice on the cross for you, and was gloriously resurrected the third day. Ask Him into your heart to live forever, in His name AMEN.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a very encouraging read. I loved learning more about the Robertson family while also learning about the importance of community. I knew that community was important but the book really delved deep into how to make it a priority no matter the stage of life you're currently in. The ladies gave examples from their own lives and they asked the reader questions to apply what they learned. I'd recommend it!
