Suzanne Redfearn’s Moment in Time is a beautiful and moving story that captures the fragility of life and the power of second chances. With emotionally resonant writing and a rich, character-driven narrative, Redfearn explores themes of love, grief, and fate with grace. The premise—about a single life-altering moment and its ripple effects—is handled with poignancy and subtlety. Redfearn’s storytelling is grounded in emotional truth, and every page carries a quiet intensity that stays with you. This is a heartfelt novel that lingers long after the final chapter. A perfect read for fans of Jodi Picoult and Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Eight years after a tragic accident, we pick up the story of Mo and Chloe, and how their lives have changed.

When her latest article proves to be a big break in her career, Mo persuades flatmate Hazel to come and celebrate with her. When Hazel suddenly seems to have left, Mo has no idea what dreadful events have taken place until she receives a call to pick up a dishevelled and disorientated Hazel.

Hazel is too heavily drugged to realise she has been sexually assaulted, and neither the hospital nor the police will allow Hazel to report it on her behalf.

Chloe loves her job working as a vet, but her kind-hearted nature sees her spending every last penny caring for the animals she rescues, even though she doesn't have a home since her world was turned upside down by her boyfriend's revelation. She is not prepared to stand by, and when the attacker is assaulted and Hazel disappears, together with Mo, Chloe embarks on a journey to help Hazel.

A compelling and emotional read.

I really loved In an Instant and was excited to read this one and continue reading about Mo and Chloe. This book was very heavy and I enjoyed it a lot! I think a bit of it was jumping all over the place where I was getting confused at times, but that could be because I was listening to the audio -- I don't think it hindered my reading experience too much!

This was a suspenseful book about the ties of friendship. Chloe and Mo are close friends. One night their other friend Hazel is sexually assaulted. She doesn’t want to speak to anyone and disappears. Her attacker is assaulted one night. The secrets and twists that follow leave everything changed.

I’ve read and enjoyed everything that Suzanne has written. In An Instant is a favorite of mine. I don’t tend to gravitate towards sequels or spin offs, but I liked this one, which takes place 8 years after the first.

It personally wasn't 100% for me. While I generally enjoying the book and think the topics covered are incredibly important, the writing style just wasn't my cup of tea personally.

I really enjoyed "Moment in Time" by Suzanne Redfearn. Strong friendship bonds, and lots of challenges, baggage, painful history and sorrow as these friends face hard events with courage and loyalty to each other. Great, current characters and interesting plot. Thank you to the author, NetGalley and publisher for the review copy. All opinions are my own.

I liked this story of friendship in a challenging time. These characters make the worst decisions ever. As in like ever. That part was difficult for me.

I *LOVED* "In an Instant." It was in my top 5 best books of the year in 2021. I remember how emotionally impacted I was by it; it was just so incredibly powerful. When I found out we were getting another book and would get to see where Chloe and Mo were all these years later, I was so excited! This book was more of a mental survival story than a mental survival story, and just as powerful. Redfearn does such a great job of writing about difficult subject matter in an eloquent, respectful way. Sign me up for whatever she writes next!

VERDICT: 4 STARS

Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and Netgalley for a copy of this one in exchange for an honest review!

This fast-moving story deals with the topic of date rape and how difficult it is to prove and get justice through the legal system. Since this was the first book I have read from Suzanne Redfearn, I didn't realize it was actually a sequel. I had no problem reading it as a stand-alone story, but definitely do plan to go back and read In an Instant as well as her other books. Thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for a copy to read and review.

Some books hit at a perfect time and they resonate with you. I wanted to connect with this one but I just could not feel the pull of the story. This may have connected better if I'd known it was side characters from another book but then again, maybe not.

I did like the story being told from two different perspectives, Mo and Chloe. I think it helps tell the story. But I didn't find the mystery compelling and, instead, I found a lot of it said. I wish I'd liked this one more.

A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

Not as good as the first, but sequels rarely are. Still a good read and sheds light on delicate topics. Was missing somethings and had some holes, but still an okay read.

This was such a great story. Hard to read at times because of the themes but still so wonderful. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the arc.

A deep, powerful book about friendship and overcoming adversity. I would recommend this to anyone who would like to share this journey with the characters.

3.5* A story of friendships that have stood the test of time through some of the most difficult moments. A Moment in Time is a great title to sum up Chloe, Mo and Hazel's emotional healing and relationship.
The story brings light to regrets, forgiveness and retaliation. Some of the choices these friends make have ultimate consequences leaving me skeptical, but people react differently when they are in pain.

After a night in a bar, Hazel is drugged, so she doesn't remember a lot, but calls for help when she realizes she has been raped. Later she disappears, leaving Mo and Chloe frantic to find her. They see her on the app Find Friends and travel to locate her. During this time, the perpetrator has been found beaten and drugged with fingers pointed to one of them.

As the legal system works against them, they stay strong and seek their own justice. One highlight of the book is Chloe's love for abandoned animals. After rescuing a dog from abuse and abandonment, she becomes attached and the dog travels with them.

I didn't connect with this book like I had hoped, but have heard In an Instant by the author is amazing, so I will be reading it because I liked her style of writing. I think it was the troublesome topic and even more so after reading her heart felt emotions of why she wrote it.

Thank you NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for this title in exchange for my honest opinion.

I absolutely loved this authors book In An Instant, so I was pretty excited to get a follow up to some of the characters in that one—years later. However, I didn’t love this one. I felt like the obstacles in this one were throw into their paths just because they needed to go through something. However, I did love the romances in it and definitely rooted for these characters. All and all still worth the read, and I would 100% recommend reading In An Instant BEFORE you read this one.
