This was such a sweet love story. I loved Cecily and Logan’s relationship. You got the feeling from the beginning how the story was going to end, but I really enjoyed the journey there. I also loved how detailed the author was about that time period. It felt like you were actually there.

This is a sweet regency romance set in Canada at Christmas time The setting was different as most regency books are set in England. Also, the hero was a veterinarian again not seen in many books A easy fast read

I had high hopes for this book, the blurb made it sound so enticing, but it was a big disappointment for me. I don’t usually write a review if I can’t write a good one, but this book just didn’t deliver on any front. The romance seemed to have potential—a class issue separating a budding attraction. And yet that’s all there was to it. The story never developed beyond that sentence. There was no real conflict; there was no real issue to resolve. The interesting part of this book was the hero being a veterinarian, and his treatment of the diagnosed rabies in the lord’s prized stud as a parallel storyline. Although I found it annoying and tremendously overused to continually call him an “animal whisperer,” the science employed for this time period was refreshing. Sadly, what could have been great just didn’t deliver. I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. This is my freely given, honest review.

Sweet Christmas tale. I enjoyed the setting - not many of the historical romances I read are set in Canada. Some of the dialogue felt clunky, but it was an easy read. Not necessarily a stand out novel, but a satisfactory escape.

A Gentleman For Christmas is the sweet story of Cecile and Logan: and English woman and a Scottish man living in Canada who fall in love and hope to overcome Cecily’s father’s prejudice.
I liked it overall, though I did wish there were more descriptions of Cecily’s family home— there was an emphasis on her family’s wealth compared to Logan’s, but not much in the text to show the differences.
I had some other small issues with the book, as well— the plot with the horse’s illness felt a little rushed (and from my understanding of the illness, the science was off as well), and a lot of conversations between Cecily and Logan got a bit repetitive.
Other than that, though, it was a lovely read and very sweet.

This was a very sweet Christmas themed historical romance, set in Edwardian Canada. Cecily is the daughter of a very successful English horse breeder, and Logan is a horse whispering vet, and son from a large farming family, of Scottish background. They are neighbours and went to school together, and Cecily has a crush on him, but knows her father would be against the relationship because Logan is of a lower class, and Scottish. Logan, it turns out, is attracted to Cecily as well and wants to court her. He works in various ways to find a path to do so openly, including joining the church choir to spend time with her, and helping her father with an ill-mare, while openly asking for her family's permission to court her. Cecily seems very fearful and reluctant, thinking her father would never give permission.

This is a sweet story of young love, despite the differing classes. As they are no longer in England, why not have new traditions and expectations, so why can't a Scottish vet marry an Englishwoman. There was the theme of new beginnings, new traditions, and (renewing) family relationships too. It was very sweet, and a lovely story of Christmas as well. At times a bit saccharine sweet, but overall, touching and engaging. A lovely novella to read by a warm fire, with a hot cup of cocoa, on a snowy winter's day.

3.5 stars out of 5.

This was an incredibly sweet and entertaining romance read. I enjoyed reading this historical romance, set around the Christmas season. Logan and Cecily are as different as night and day but there attraction to one another brings them together. Watching them navigate the issues keeping them apart, while convincing everyone around them of how right they are together, made for a read in one sitting romance. TBR and Enjoy!

Stir-it-up-Sunday only happens once a year, but a grandmother’s Christmas pudding doesn’t tempt Cecily’s appetite half as much as an appealing neighbor. Her deepest secret is safe until she whispers sugar plum nothings in her sleep, and awkwardly, someone overhears. A relationship doesn’t seem possible, but when it becomes apparent that their feelings are mutual, it’s not only class and social status hindering a relationship, but also one stubborn English father.
Logan Campbell, a skilled yet lowly veterinary surgeon, has a talent as an animal whisperer. Popular with the farmers and one English lady, his sentiments can’t administer common sense to the parental obstacle standing in his way. He’s willing to risk it all to secure his heart’s desire, even if it means singing in the church choir. But when a racehorse becomes seriously ill, the ensuing challenge tests his patience and skill. He’ll have to pull out all the stops to secure their future.
Does a veterinary surgeon have the practical knowledge to prevent a tragedy? Will a father accept his daughter’s heartfelt wishes? A Christmas carol and a little lady luck could make this season brighter.
This is a good, sweet romance. The first chapter or two it bogged down but it got steadily better. The middle chapters were the best.
I've never read a book by this author but I'll be sure to read more.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
