Absolutely gorgeous illustrations. Like I wish I could buy prints of them so good. The colors and whimsy are fantastic.

Nana was the real mvp. She supported Britta as she wanted to help Magnolia, showed her real ways to do that and didn't disregard her idea that the trees were friends.

As a mom of biracial kids I love to see a story featuring kids of color that have a broader story line than their race. I like that there is a growing number of stories where their imagination and softness is embraced. Thank you!

Lovely story and illustrations. Liked the author’s note. As an adult, I didn’t enjoy the narrative of the story as much as I enjoy other children’s books usually. But I did appreciate Nana’s wisdom and optimism. All in all, I’m certain lots of kids are going to love all the pretty colours and singsongy dialogue in this book.

Did I cry? Yes. Why? Because this book is light, fun, colorful, and FULL of love and friendship. My favorite thing was the wholesome relationship between Britta and her Nana. I have a similar relationship with my nana, and she would wholeheartedly knit a scarf with me to save some trees.

Britta is absolutely convinced her two favorite trees, Apple and Magnolia are friends, and, over a rough winter, she sets out to determine if it's true. Though her dad and sister are skeptical, kindly and less so, Nana affirms her and encourages her to pay attention. In listening and observing closely, Britta learns a lot about friendship--even the very unusual kids.

This is such a sweet tale! The language is fairly simple and has repeated refrains so it will appeal to very young readers and would make a great first independent reading book. The illustrations are soft and absolutely gorgeous! There is lots of lovely detail for kids to explore. This would make a great addition to Pre-K and elementary school and classroom libraries!
