I loved Thief and the Noble. It was a wonderful Robin Hood retelling that I could not put it down. I am giving it five stars.

A surprisingly fun Robin Hood retelling set in a proper Regency Romance. Lady Marian Russell wanting to know how people live outside of the upper class poses as a barmaid for a night. That evening she meets a mysterious man who robs from the rich to give to the poor. She discovers Lord Robert Loxley, Earl of Huntingdon is the thief and wants to join him on his adventures. But things get complicated when another bandit is also robbing. Robin (Rob) wants to catch the thief to see if his intentions are to get gain or to help others. He goes to great lengths to entrap the competing thief.

I actually had more fun with the thefts and Robs antics than with the romance itself. The elusive earl is flummoxed by Marian and yet manages to tease and provoke her. Marian is an intelligent and at times seems older than her 18 years. If you are someone that is going to be bothered by the rules of propriety that Marian should have been following, like always having a chaperone, this book will irk you. More than once she's in situations that in another novel would have her instantly ruined or wed. The author does have an explanation for the lack of oversight by her parents which works for the family but not in my mind for the society rules. Giving Marian more depth is her coming to understand her own importance to her family which she thinks isn't interested in her.

This is a clean romance with only a few kisses. A final chapter acts as a good epilogue. I'm still a little uncomfortable with the idea but of the good guys being thieves but I can put my values aside for a fun adventure. Thank you to NetGalley, Covenant Communications and the author for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was so curious to read this Robin Hood retelling set in Regency times! The characters drew me in immediately. I love that they both wanted to make the world a better place, even if their methods were a bit unconventional! Marian was a good mix of adventurous, brave, but still naïve and endearing, And Robin was just the right amount of gentleman and rogue. Their shared qualities of kindness and spunk make them a perfect match. The attraction between them was a delight to read!

I highly recommend this for fans of retellings and clean Regency romances!

Thanks to the author, NetGalley, and Covenant Communications for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions!

Loved this creative retelling of Robin Hood! I enjoy fairytale retellings and this book completely grabbed my attention and imagination and I quickly devoured it. While the traditional Robin Hood story takes place in the Middle Ages with Robin as a lower class thief robbing the rich to give to the poor, this story takes place in Regency England with Robin as a nobleman who tries to teach his fellow wealthy noblemen a lesson by robbing only those who mistreat or take advantage of others and then gives to the poor.

The characters are so well developed and I absolutely loved Rob or Robin. He’s a charming, mischievous thief who is part rogue and part nobleman. As the Elusive Earl, he maintains a mysterious distance from society while able to carefully observe them. Growing up in poverty and trying to provide for his mother and sister quickly educated him in the ways of survival until he inherited the earldom at the age of 18. He’s managed to maintain his secrecy until he meets Lady Marian who turns his world upside down.

Lady Marian wants to make a difference for the lower classes in society. She’s beautiful, compassionate, brave and a little impetuous. Going undercover to find out how the other half lives, she meets a handsome thief and is determined to have him teach her his ways. Imagine her surprise when the handsome thief is the Elusive Earl. She tries to find a careful balance between enjoying her first season and learning from Robin.

The romance between Robin and Marian was so good! He loves to discombobulate her and keep her guessing, but when he shows her his true self and soft side, it’s hard not to fall in love with him. I loved the witty banter, and those swoony moments with near kisses.

With plenty of twists and turns, suspense, mystery, a delicious sweet romance, and memorable characters, this fun retelling will definitely steal your heart! This new to me author really impressed me and I will definitely read her other books. I highly recommend to those who love historical romance and fairytale retellings. 4 1/2 stars raised to 5. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.

If you like fairy tale retellings, add this one to your list!

If you haven't read a lot but would like to try them out, read this one asap!

This intertwining of regency and Robin Hood is perfection. I really have no complaints about this story. (Except that I would love even MORE of Robin and Marian *wink wink* hahaha.)

The characters are well developed and charismatic. They are fun and oh, SO likeable! Robin Hood is a charmer, no doubts about it.
There are wonderful plot twists in this story that are genius! A couple I suspected, some I didn't see coming!
Up finishing this book, I immediately pulled out my phone and put it on pre-order. This is one I WANT on my shelf and look forward to reading again!

Content notes:
- It's Robin Hood. There's theft and stealing in the story.
-Clean. Sweet kisses. A couple rakes of the ton that elude to some immoral actions.
-Some brief violence, but nothing in detail or too gory.

The Thief and the Noble by Dana LeCheminant is a regency era fairytale retelling of Robin Hood.

When I first heard about this book I wasn’t sure what to think. I honestly didn’t know how a Robin Hood story would work with the upper class society of the regency era. But Dana LeCheminant made it work and I loved it!

I love that both Robin and Marian are members of the upper class in London that recognize just how many people are impoverished and suffering, and are determined to do something about it. And they meet while they are doing just that. I love Marian’s spirit and determination. Any other lady would not be able to keep up with Robin.

Robin *sigh* I just love him. I love that he doesn’t care what society thinks of him, he is just doing his best to make a real difference in the world around him. I love that he started his life in poverty and inherited an earldom later in life, and therefore truly understands the hardships of poverty. He’s intelligent, capable, compassionate, and confident in all the best ways. He and Marian are so great together and I loved seeing them progress from strangers to accomplices, to friends, to lovers.

Lastly I loved the villain of this story! I made a lucky guess early on and loved that the bread crumbs left throughout the story helped me be more and more sure that I knew who the villain was. I also loved that the villain was kind of hidden in plain sight. The climax wasn’t a surprise, partly because this is a retelling of a beloved story, but was still very enjoyable and kept me turning pages!

If you enjoy regency romances, fairytale retellings, gallant Robin Hood type heroes, sweet slow-burn love stories, and strong female characters, you definitely need to check out The Thief and The Noble by Dana LeCheminant!

The Thief and the Noble is a sweet and notable regency rendition of Robin Hood. Dana LeCheminant pens a creative spin on this well-known classic using some delightful characters. Lady Marian is not content with the status quo and wants to do more when she becomes intrigued by someone stealing from the rich to help the poor. She did not account for him being so handsome, or familiar. I love her feistiness, bravery, and determination to assist Robin. Their banter is lively and entertaining and renders a sweet love story. The action is well paced and provides a few twists and turns. All in all, an enjoyable, light and fun, sweet romance. I would recommend this all lovers of regency romance, fairy tale retellings, and sweet/clean/wholesome romances.

I enjoyed this retelling of Robin Hood. Ms. LeCheminant did a great job in taking the familiar characters of this age old tale and placing them into the Regency era. Marian, Robin, Will, John, and Gisbourne are all a part of this adventurous tale.

Lady Marian Russell had a tender heart towards the poor as shown when she says, “It isn’t fair,” she said to herself, “Everyone deserved the basic comforts of life.” Getting hired as a barmaid was an ingenious way to not only find out how others lived, but also fuel her passion to help them. Marian is also observant, quick-witted, and intelligent, which makes her the perfect partner for Robin.

Robert Loxley, the Earl of Huntingdon, has experienced the disparity between “the haves” and “the have nots” and wants to do what he can to correct it. Being found out as a thief was not part of his plan. But, that is what makes this story fun as Robin adds more people to his cause.

The copycat thief that Robin and Marion must thwart adds additional depth to the plot. I like the camaraderie that is shared between them and the way the book ended. I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

3.5 stars. I love the Robin Hood story and I love the Regency era. Put them together and you get a fun, interesting story. Robin and Miriam both have their reasons for stealing. I loved each of their back stories and feelings about humanity. Their banter was cute and I loved seeing them fall in love. There was one part of the story I didn't really love but overall it was a good story.

This was a fun Robin Hood retelling! This story was like a mash up of Robin Hood and To Catch A Thief! I have yet to read a Robin Hood story set during Regency era, so this one was unique and entertaining. I enjoyed seeing this story shown in a new light! I thought the characters were great and the plot was intriguing. I was pretty sure I knew who the thief would be, but I was anxious to see if my prediction was right! Things really got intense in the last pages of the book and I enjoyed the elements of danger as the story came to a conclusion. This was my first book from this author, but it was enjoyable and I would happily read her again.

4.5* I enjoyed the twists and turns this story took!  The non-conventional heroine, Marian, was a surprise at nearly every turn, and the many faces the hero, Robin Loxley, wore were fascinating to see all in one person.  This story was a little adventure and a little mystery all wrapped in a historical romance package!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

This was such a fun and clever Robin Hood inspired regency story! I have always loved Robin Hood, so when I found out about this book, I was excited to read it!

Marian doesn’t want to only do the things society says a lady of rank should do, like attend parties and plan soirées. She wants to do important things, things that will help people and make the world a better place. Robin steals from nobles who do cruel things and he redistributes what he took to people who need help. I loved their first meeting!

I enjoyed how their relationship developed through their partnership, and it was fun to read about their adventures. I loved seeing familiar names from the Robin Hood legends! The ending took me by surprise, and I enjoyed seeing how everything turned out!

4/5 stars

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Thief and the Noble is a Robin Hood regency retelling. I love retellings, but wasn’t sure how Robin Hood would fit with regency. The author did such a great job. I was sucked in from the first chapter and quickly turning pages throughout. I loved the mystery, action, romance, and banter.

Robin, Marian, John and Will were such a fun group of regency vigilantes. Figuring out who the copy cat thieves were added to the story to give it that extra excitement.

While I normally cringe when characters make bad choices, the author made the suspense and reasons behind their vigilante acts enjoyable, rather than uncomfortable.

I loved how the last chapter ended. It read more like and epilogue and it was done to perfection. It made me smile and love the main characters even more.

I absolutely loved this retelling of Robin Hood and Maid Marian. It was a fun twist on the story to have it set in the regency era. It has plenty of mystery, danger, and romance with great chemistry between the main characters.
It is a clean fun read that I highly recommend.

I received this ARC from NetGalley. This book is a regency remake of the fairytale Robinhood and Maid Marion. In this story you follow Robin the Earl of Loxley and Lady Marion as they try to help those in need while they take from the rich and undeserving. I loved this story and I finished the book in one afternoon. The book is fast paced and very entertaining. I hope to read more by this author.

The Thief and the Noble by Dana LaCheminant, 268 pages. Covenant Communications, 2022.
Language: G (0 swears, 0 “f”); Mature Content: PG; Violence: PG
BUYING ADVISORY: HS - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
Lady Marian wants to help the lower class, but first she has to understand their needs. She dons a disguise to take a job as a barmaid and meets Robin, a thief intent on redistributing wealth. But everything becomes more complicated when Robin and Marian discover that the other isn’t what they appear to be.
As a retelling of Robin Hood, I enjoyed reading LaCheminant’s story – the thrill of vigilantism, the desire to help those who need it, and the reimagining of beloved characters. Unfortunately, I did not fall in love with this Robin, which made watching Marian fall in love with him difficult. Focusing on the action/adventure parts of the story was more fun than the romance parts, though the last chapter was, admittedly, a cute conclusion to the development of their relationship.

From the very beginning, I was in love with this book. I legit giggled the first time Robin was introduced. 😂 I’m a huge fan of Robin Hood retellings and Dana did a great job with this one. It was fun having it in the regency era since I’ve never read a Robin Hood retelling from that time.

Dana has a great writing style and I loved that we get most of the characters from Robin Hood in this one. It’s quite clever how they all played a role.

I absolutely loved the last quarter of the book. It was adventurous, mysterious, and swoon inducing. I was worried it would end abruptly but the last chapter was like an epilogue which helped. Buuut..I would not have minded reading a few more chapters of their story since I liked it so much.
