This is one of the best historical romances I’ve read. It was sweet and gentle, and featured characters that I was drawn to. What especially impressed me was how the author took a few common tropes and completely upended my expectations with her use of them. I kept being surprised by the depth of the story, despite the fact it never got angsty.

My only slight complaint was that sometimes it was hard to keep track of the change of speakers in sections of dialogue. However, this may have just been an issue with the formatting of the digital advance copy I had.

I look forward to reading more by this author, especially if she gives some of the side characters their own stories.

This book has everything I love. A regency romance with a mix between friends to more and enemies to more that includes the heroine staying for the summer at the estate owned by the family of the man she loves. I figured before I even started this one that it'd be perfect for me, and I wasn't wrong!

In fact, I read this in ONE day. (Thank goodness my kids took a good long nap.) The relationships between the characters are so well-done and complex, especially the tension between the brothers. Getting to know Damon was a joy, and I didn't at all guess how things would get sorted out at the end.

Basically, if you like regency romance at all, you should read this one. The writing flows, the plot keeps you hooked, and the romance is oh-so-sweet! Highly recommend! I can't wait for more from this author!

When an invitation arrives, for Hannah to spend the summer at Summerhaven, Hannah jumps at the chance. Hannah, has many childhood memories, of wandering the estate and being teased by both Jennings' boys. The second son, Olliver, or as she calls him, Ollie, is who she has her heart set upon.. But, Ollie seems to dismiss her, from the moment she arrives, and Hannah has decided to head back home. Circumstances change, when she is given a proposition, but Hannah is weary of what the outcome might be. This book was one I devoured in less than twenty-four hours, I loved it so much. I will be reading it again.

I loved this book! I would give it 10 stars ⭐️ If I could. Beautiful love story. I loved the strong portrayal of the heroine Hannah. I read this in 2 days and I will definitely read it again. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

This was such a cute book! I loved it! I have to admit I was a little worried because the premise sounded a little awkward, but it was actually a really lovely book! Summerhaven is the first book that I have read by Tiffany Odekirk and I loved it! It has enemies to lovers, fake relationships, and the grumpy one is sweet on the happy one, I mean put these all together and you have an amazing book!
Hannah felt things deeply because she was kind and cared about others. She fell hard for her childhood friend, but things didn't turn out the way she thought it would. She agrees to a charade with the brother of her childhood best friend, Damon. He is different then she remembered, and now she is more confused than ever. She fell in love with Oliver, Ollie, years ago and now she does not know what to think. Will Damon and Hannah’s relationship become more than just a ruse?
Hannah was a fun character, she cared deeply for her family. She wanted to find someone who would love her for herself. I liked reading about Hannah as she learned to be herself and what it meant to truly be in love with someone. She was just so sweet and kind, she was a wonderful character. However she did have to learn how to let the past go and learn from it, looking towards the future.
Okay, so I liked Damon from the beginning. He seemed like such a scoundrel at first, but as you read more you learned that there was more to him then met the eye. He had teased Hannah when they were children so he seemed at bit mean at first, however he had really grown since she had last seen him. Damon fell for Hannah fast and it was so sweet to read about him caring for her. However he was an earl and being an earl came with responsibilities, Damon will have to decide if loving Hannah is worth everything he could lose.
Damon and Hannah were cute together! They had a banter that I loved reading about, their interactions were so much fun! I am honestly not sure how I feel about Ollie, but he did add to the story. There are some side characters that were a lot of fun and I hope that they get their own books.
Summerhaven was a great book! It was certainly interesting to read about Damon and Hannah’s relationship grow. I really enjoyed the story and I would totally recommend this book! Summerhaven is a clean historical romance.

I loved Tiffany Odekirk’s other books (and that says a lot, because I don’t often enjoy contemporary novels), so I was so excited when she announced a regency story!

I was not disappointed! Summerhaven is a fresh, endearing look at the Regency era. It is filled with vivacious characters and heartfelt dialogue. I was in love with the story almost from the first page. This is one book you will not want to miss!

Thank you net galley for this advanced reader copy of this novel. This was a very clean and sweet regency romance about a girl finding out what it means to love. I loved the dialogue between Hannah, Ollie, and Damon. The struggle of saving a house, tenants, etc and choosing love was portrayed very well. The only thing I didn't like was that one brother would be invariably heartbroken by the choice and have to deal with it forever as famy connections. Well written, researched and executed! Love love love this book that reminded me of my favorite Edenbrooke.

Summerhaven is simply a beautifully written story. Ms. Odekirk has written her debut historical romance and it does not disappoint. You cannot help but fall in love with the characters. As you are reading you almost believe you are actually at Summerhaven. From the cover to the last word written highly recommend this book! More than five star worthy!!

Tiffany Odekirk has taken a dive into the crowded Regency Romance pool and emerged with a thoroughly charming book. Lovely heroine Hannah Kent naively believes her childhood friend Oliver Jennings will marry her, based on youthful promises. Personally, while I can't understand her assumption, back then some people were actually betrothed from the cradle. Returning to Summerhaven after a lengthy absence, she eventually discovers her memories do not reflect the reality of her time there.

Hannah is sweet, and Damon Jennings is a true gentleman, although misunderstood by many. Other characters are interesting as well, from new friend Amelia to Hannah's snob of a sister-in-law Georgiana. The recurring subject of frogs (or just their legs on one's plate) is both humorous and touching.

Odekirk's prose is lovely. Aside from the occasional "okay", which was not used at the time, period details appear accurate. This book is clean as well. My original rating of "Summerhaven" was a four+ stars but is a well-deserved five stars because Damon is just that great!

Summerhaven is a captivating regency novel that is enthralling, emotional and witty all at the same time. One cannot help but we swept into the story, the lives of the characters and the home called Summerhaven. There are so many fun and swoony moments between Hannah and Damon. I loved how the story flowed, slowly peeling back more layers and intricacies as the story went on. Perspective is an interesting thing and Hannah certainly had her thoughts and beliefs challenged many times and her heart changed in the process. I would highly recommend reading Summerhaven. It is all too easy to fall in love with this story and its characters.

I absolutely loved this book!!!! It was funny, heartwarming and even made me cry at one point which I was not expecting! I've never read anything by this author before now but I am hooked! This was the perfect, clean version of a Julia Quinn book.

Summerhaven was such a fun read. It pulled me in and I could not put it down. I definitely stayed up way too late so I could know what happened. I greatly enjoyed the characters. They were so well written and I would love to see more books with these characters.

Summerhaven by Tiffany Odekirk was exactly the book I've been looking for. The last several books I've read have been wonderful, but they have been mysteries set in times of war and I needed a break! This was the perfect light and easy read I'd been searching for.

Hannah thought Damon had purposely tormented her in their youth, which is why she prefers his light-hearted and adventurous little brother. However, when she shows up at their home in the country, Ollie is only interested in Hannah as a friend. Damon and Hannah undertake a mutually beneficial ruse and Hannah's feelings start to change. She realizes that what she has hoped for with Ollie for so many years is a child's fantasy, and that Damon is a man of character and compassion. Obstacles arise, Ollie does some soul searching, and things get complicated. Damon is reminiscent of a brooding Darcy-like character, which I loved.

It was a lovely read that was perfect for early mornings and quiet nights. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a good historical romance.

Things have changed - they are no longer children - and, as there always are in titled families, there are such things as money and position to consider when choosing a wife. The class distinction of the time is strongly evident.

"Summerhaven" is a romance set in 1817 in England. Hannah has waited for her childhood friend to call for her and honor his pledge to marry her. When the invitation comes to visit his family’s country estate, she realizes that he's changed and intends to marry for money. She remembers the elder brother's mean pranks but discovers a considerate man who's concerned about others and who builds her up. In contrast, Oliver deliberately humiliates her in front of the woman he's after. Does she really want to marry Oliver, even if no one else is offering for her?

The main characters (even Oliver) were likable and acted in realistic ways. Historical details about clothing and manners were woven into the story. I'll just mention, authors, that male horses also come in a variety called geldings. In a time when a broken bone could mean death and stallions were valuable breeding stock, most people wouldn't use them for daily pleasure riding. Offering one to an inexperienced rider was not a kindness, and even naturally talented riders don't become skilled riders in one ride. Likewise, I'd assume that it's unlikely that even a talented musician could perfectly play an unknown piece on the first try. These were sweet scenes, just not realistic. Anyway, there was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'm recommend this enjoyable novel.

Hannah Kent spent many happy days as a child with the family of her mother's best friend at their estate called Summerhaven. She had all sorts of adventures with Oliver, whom she planned to marry one day, and Damon, who was always getting on her wrong side.
Now that she's grown, she hasn't seen either of them for many years, but she's confident that the childhood promises she and Oliver made to each other will hold firm. So when she's invited to spend the summer with the family, it comes as a real shock to her that Oliver doesn't seem nearly as invested in their future as she is.
Meanwhile, Damon offers to enact a pretend courtship with Hannah. He says he's tired of being pressured to marry, and she's scrounging for any way to jolt Oliver to his senses. But the more time Hannah spends with Damon, the more she questions how fake this ruse really is, and even whether there might not be another perspective on her old memories of him.

This story drew me in and kept me reading past bedtime! Damon was a very appealing character and I enjoyed the changing view of their childhood memories from both Hannah's and Damon's perspective. There were a couple of pivotal scenes where Hannah starts to see him differently that were beautifully written. (The piano scene! The river scene! The cottage scene! They were so good!)

Although first-person narration is not my favorite, I got wrapped up into the story and just wanted to find out what would happen next. There were a few jarring anachronisms, like the characters' use of the word "okay," but they were relatively few and far between.

I always love discovering a new historical romance author with a fantastic voice and delightful characters. Summerhaven is a charming read and I was fully invested from beginning to end.

Lighthearted, fluffy regency fare with a clean romance line. Hannah has plans to marry her childhood sweetheart to discover upon reintroduction as adults that the idea doesn’t always match the reality. Meanwhile, discovering who the brother is the best part of the story. Adored the hero, though the heroine was more sweet than snark. All in all a decent story that I finished quickly.
