I enjoyed going back to Rock Harbor and thought the appearances of characters from Coble’s other Rock Harbor books was a great addition to the story. Coble’s layering of emotion, experience, and determination creates depth in the characters and makes the story more intense. Lots of mystery and uncertainty make Edge of Dusk a true page turner, and without giving anything away, the ending makes me want the next book in the series now. The setting is beautiful, yet full of mystery, like another character added to the story. If you enjoy romantic suspense, you’ll want to read Colleen Coble’s Edge of Dusk. It was fun returning to Rock Harbor in Colleen Coble's newest book. The story grabbed me at the beginning when Annie's younger sister was kidnapped. Fast forward 24 years, Annie is now 33 years old and is a law enforcement ranger. Her first love, Jon, has returned after 9 years away to ready his grandfather's home to sell. The different mysteries, twists and turns kept me interested. I liked the characters ok, but there were some parts in the story that felt a bit unbelievable to me. I thought the info on celiac and gluten free diets was a bit overdone. I did appreciate the faith thread in the story.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone who likes Christian Romantic Suspense.

Colleen Coble’s Rock Harbor series is my favorite of hers and I was excited to hear she is setting another series there. And she does a great job! I was intrigued from the very beginning. Coble is great at adding layers to the story with every chapter. The reader is swept along on a wave of suspense, holding her breath until the final outcome. I must say, though, that Coble is keeping us hanging for the next book. I can’t wait! Well done!

If Annie Pederson could talk to us, she’d tell us that The Windigo, the looming 15ft tall monster of Ojibwa legends who ate humans, was the least of her worries.

Colleen Coble knows how to keep readers engaged! Her books have an amazing pace, keeping readers committed. It felt as though I was on a roller coaster. I loved the thrill of not knowing what was coming next, loved the spinning and twisting, the plummeting drops and dark tunnels, the loops and yes, at times I felt like I was hanging upside down! As I willed the roller coaster to slow down so that the protagonist could get a chance to escape her life, Coble changed the direction. As I took a deep breath, thinking I was on a stretch of even track, Coble changed speed. I twisted, turned and raced from one page to the next and was exhausted by book end. I honestly couldn’t turn the pages fast enough!

I read this deliciously good book in one sitting and consider myself addicted to the series! I can’t wait for book 2, Dark of Night, to be released on January 10, 2023.

Edge of Dusk by Colleen Coble is Christian suspense. It's the first book from the Annie Pederson series.

This story focuses on two mysteries. One is about Annie's younger sister that was abducted when they were kids. The other one is about two young women who were murdered nine years ago. The plot captures your attention from the first chapter and holds you captive until the last one. It's an intense suspense novel that has a few emotional scenes, romance, and lots of action. The descriptions are on point. You can easily visualize the place and the people. The characters are interesting as well. Each one has its own story and
issues. Annie was the one that struck me, she was brave, kind, and helpful but she also seemed to be stuck in the past. The relationship she had with her daughter was one of my favorite parts of the book. There are three big revelations towards the end and I am happy that I found out about two of them.

If you like mysteries and suspense novels I highly suggest you to read this one. I enjoyed reading it and I will rate it with 4,5 stars.

my Thoughts,. Ms coble takes us back to the upper peninsula of Michigan where we became acquainted with construction rescue team with a dog hero. It was nice to revisit characters from the past and get to know new ones in this new series. Ms coble kept us guessing who done it. There were some things in the story that we're not resolved in my opinion but they may be resolved in different books of the series. Otherwise I never did figure out who done it although I did have my suspicions. This wasn't the best of Miss Çobles books but for die hard suspense fans it is it was a good breed read. I recommend it. I was given a copy free and all opinions on my own.

Many twists and turns make this new series hard to put down. Readers will be happy with the author's return to Rock Harbor. Annie makes an interesting character with a strong personality and much determination. Fast paced with lots of action and suspense. The ending was a bit jarring since I didn't know this was a series. Looking forward to reading more in the next installment. Recommended!

I got introduced to this author in my church book club and was eager to read more by her so requested this book. I am so glad I did! it is a great story with many twists and turns in the plot. I did not have a clue to the murderer until she revealed it in the book which is a good sign for me of a well written and plotted book. Now, I am looking forward to the next books in the series due to come out next year. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting my request to read this book.

Annie is a mom stretched between her career as a law enforcement ranger and running the marina she inherited on the death of her parents and husband. She is also still searching for her little sister, who has been missing since they were attacked as children. Add in the return of Jon - her first love, a missing hiker, and the resurrection of a cold case involving two missing girls and there are plenty of unknowns in this first in a planned series. As Rock Harbor was the series that hooked me on Coble I enjoyed returning to the area and catching up with familiar characters, though they are not the focal point. I don’t mind an overarching mystery that spans several books but I was disappointed by the number of threads left dangling at the end of this book. You also have to choose to accept the range of abilities Jon possesses and his involvement with law enforcement. This isn’t my favorite Coble, but I will be looking forward to the next in the series.

I was happy to return to Rock Harbor and meet Annie Pederson. It was nice to see some of the characters from previous Rock Harbor books make an appearance. However, I really had a hard time caring much for our heroine. I struggled to feel sympathy for her, even though she had suffered several tragedies. The entire novel I really wished she’d discipline her daughter (who has a deeply disrespectful attitude). The child’s attitude grated on me. It seemed like a little too much emphasis on the gluten-free angle. A lot of wasted words padding the story. I am hoping that book 2 is better.

This book was engaging, atmospheric, and suspenseful. It did a great job of keeping me hooked and having compassion for the characters through their struggles.
I highly recommend this book. I will be purchasing it for our library.

This first book in the Annie Pederson series is another brilliantly plotted story by Colleen Coble filled with mystery and suspense. I loved returning to Rock Harbor, Michigan, to reunite with friends from the Rock Harbor series and meet new friends Annie, Kylie, and Jon. Superb characterization, a multi-layered plot with many twists and turns, a beautifully drawn setting, a subtle faith thread, and sweet second-chance romance combine to make an exciting, touching read that kept me riveted from beginning to end. Even though there are carry over characters from a previous series, this book can easily be read as a standalone. The story concluded leaving several unanswered questions, so I am anxiously looking forward to reading the second book in the series Dark of Night. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

What a thrilling start to the series! Set in the beautiful UP of Michigan, it’s full of suspense, danger, and emotion. This series takes readers of Colleen Coble back to our beloved town of Rock Harbor reuniting us with Bree, Kade, Mason, and Anu while introducing new characters in Annie, Jon, and Kylie. As a huge fan of the Rock Harbor series, this book felt like coming home. To new readers, you will quickly fall in love with this town and its characters.

Annie is a strong female park ranger who is trying to provide for her young daughter, Kylie. Annie’s first love and former fiancé, Jon, comes back into town upending her world. Annie has never gotten over having her sister kidnapped, right in front of her. She is living in the same town, widowed with a young daughter. An old love comes to town, nine years ago 2 young women disappeared and the cloud of guilt has been hovering over him since. I liked the plot of the book, there were plenty of twists. The reason for the 3* is the ending. I didn’t like it, seems like there might be another book following this one to resolve the final issue left hanging. The Edge of Dusk by Colleen Coble is the first book in the Annie Pederson series and revisits the town of Rock Harbor, Michigan. As someone who hasn't read the Rock Harbor series, it was easy to jump into this new series. Annie Pederson works as a law enforcement ranger and discovers a body in Lake Superior. Coble adds in a parallel plot of Annie's sister's mysterious kidnapping and disappearance years ago and the return of her former boyfriend. As this is the first book in a series, Coble leaves many loose ends and will develop characters more in later books. I can't wait for the next one in the series.

I really like Coble's books, and this one did not disappoint. Annie's sister disappeared when they were children. Now she's a widowed law enforcement officer and mom to an 8 year old. A body surfaces and old memories return.

I liked this book because of the mystery aspects of the storyline, as well as the character development. Some novels miss that part, and I think having good characters brings so much to the story. Can't wait to read the rest of the series!

Annie is now 33 and has an eight-year-old daughter, Kylie. Her husband and parents were killed in a boating accident two years ago. She is now a law enforcement ranger. Additionally, she runs the Tremolo Resort and Marina. When she finds a dead body floating in Lake Superior, she begins working with the sheriff’s office to solve the crime. At the same time, her old boyfriend, Jon Dustan, returns after being away for nine years. His presence inflames some of the locals. He was linked to a cold case before he left for his orthopedic residency. Can things get any more complex? Absolutely!

The author does a great job of characterization. Annie Pederson is a likeable character with grit and determination. However, her grief and self-recrimination over Laura’s kidnapping and Jon leaving her have had a deep effect on her spirit. Kylie is usually sweet but seems to have an unnatural dislike of Jon the minute she meets him. Many of the other characters have depth and either put readers on guard or invite them to learn more about them. Others needed a little more development, especially Taylor Moore.

This story has a multi-layered plot with several mysteries and some twists and turns as well as a few surprises along the way. It starts with a prologue set twenty-four years ago when Laura was kidnapped and then jumps to current times and a multitude of investigations and current case follow-ups. Additionally, Jon asks Annie to help him clear his name on the cold case. With the investigations heating up, Annie starts getting threats. Which case is causing someone to feel threatened and can Annie solve it before she winds up dead or injured?

The world-building is excellent. From the woods to the small towns to Lake Superior, readers are enveloped in the atmosphere of the Upper Peninsula. With lies, secrets, mysteries, and action, I couldn’t wait to read what was going to happen next. Themes include jealousy, friendship, misunderstanding, family, grief, anger management, murder, romance, kidnapping, and much more. While the main mysteries are wrapped up, there are several loose threads at the end of the novel that will make for excellent storylines in future novels.

Overall, this book was engaging, atmospheric, and suspenseful. It did a great job of keeping me hooked and having compassion for the characters through their struggles. This was an excellent start to what I hope will be a long series. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

Another good story from Rock Harbor! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's another one of those stories where boy and girl were in love, one goes off to the big city, the other stays behind, etc. I guess I've just been reading too many of those lately... The mystery is great! It's got lots of suspense. Definitely some of the creepy factor! And it includes helpful information for those with celiac disease.

Edge of Dusk by Colleen Coble is an action packed suspense. It is part one in a three part series. There is closure but not complete closure to keep you wanting more in the next couple books.

Annie’s sister went missing when their were kids and she has blamed herself ever since. Now the mother of an 8 year old. She lost her husband and parents in a recent boating accident.
I struggled with her decision to marry her fiancé’s best friend soon after they broke up. And that she had any doubt at all as to whether her ex fiancé was involved in the teen girls disappearance.

Annie’s ex fiancé is back in town to fix up and sell their family home. He and Annie re-establish their friendship.

My favorite part of the book was Annie dealing with finding out her daughter had celiac disease. The author shared a lot of great information and eating tips and encouragement.

My second favorite part of the book was revisiting Rock Harbor and some of our favorite characters from that series.
