A Friend Like Filby is a warm-hearted story about a teenager named George. It follows him through typical teenage things during his senior year. His two friends Onion and Dave round out the main crew. I found all three characters very likable, especially Dave. The book looks at events in a kinder way than I am used to and it was refreshing. I enjoyed reading about their problems and how they resolved them even if most were kind of tame to today's standards. I felt the book really had a "leave it to Beaver" type vibe to it. Kind of old school in a way. Overall, it is a well-written book with interesting characters.
