I didn't like the first book as much as I would've liked, but reading the sampler for the second book is making me want to read the rest of Forestfall went it comes out! The writing style still isn't my cup of tea but I think the first book got all of the worldbuilding aspects out of the way so that we can dive right into the action in the second one. I'm interested to see what happens next!

This review just covers a sample of the book Lyndall Clipstone is a Gothic literature writer and her target reader is young women and especially when the girls love monsters. The sample takes on the appearance of a piece of poetry, which is beautiful, but limits my review. I loved the prose so much that looked into the actual book, happy me, I actually own it. The opening lines drew me in;
"I was the monster in the world"
"I as the monster in the woods"
Lyndall Clipston is gifted with rounding out the characters and the scents fill my body,
"The air is filled with the faded scents. Beneath that, a hint of old blood."
Thank you Macmillian Children's Publishing Group, Lyndall Clipstone, aand NetGalley for giving an opportunity to read these beautiful words, in return for an honest review.

This made me really excited for the book to come out later this year. Getting the point of view of what is going on in the underworld and back at lakes edge is great. I hope to see a happy ending but it’s not looking good.

I was thrilled to read this sampler of Forestfall! Lakesedge left on a cliffhanger, so I was very excited to see these characters again. I can’t wait to find out what happens next in this mysterious and magical world. Leta is one of my favorite characters and I’m particularly excited to see her journey as she navigates her time with the Lord Under. Forestfall releases September 27, 2022.Thank you to Lyndall Clipstone, Macmillan Children’s Publishing, and Netgalley for a free sampler in exchange for honest feedback.

Lakesedge was one of my favorite books I read in 2021 – and I am even more excited for Forestfall to come out in September. Seeing a glimpse of Violeta and Rowan again (and Rowan POV!) was such a treat, and I am on the edge of my seat for more of them and more of the fascinating relationships and magic in this world explored and expanded upon in the sequel. Seriously can't wait!

Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Children's Publishing Group, Lyndall Clipstone, and Owlcrate for this Chapter Sampler in exchange for an honest review!

This Sampler will forever hold a special place in my heart, as it is actually the reason that I made a Netgalley in the first place! You might have just created a little reading monster in me :)

It has been a few months since I read Lakesedge, so this Sampler was a nice little refresher or reminder of what is to come in the sequel. It seems that Foresfall will pick up right after the end of Lakesedge, which is quite exciting as I hate when there is a time jump just when things are getting good. I look forward to reading the final product!

This was a nice peek into the book. The writing is very flowery and poetic, much like the first book, Lake's Edge. The writing still doesn't feel too much like something I would enjoy. However, after reading it, I'm still curious as to where Rowan and Leta's story is going to lead. I'm also curious as to what further development we can look forward to with Lord Under's character.

A great continuation for those who enjoyed the first book. I was hoping for this one to hook me a bit more, but that hasn’t happened yet in the first few chapters.

Thank you NetGalley for the sampler!

I really loved the first book Lakesedge and also had the honour of reading it early here on NetGalley. I absolutely adored this sampler and it has made me even more eager for the second book. Dark, mysterious and brimming with danger this duology is a must read for fantasy romance readers! Also, can I have a real life Rowan?

4.5 stars!💖

Well now I have to read the first book; it'll make the setup (which felt overly long) make sense since it's hard to decipher much of what is going on here. But the atmosphere is set and you're plunged right into two stories in two different worlds.

I was so excited to see that the sequel to Lakesedge was coming out this year, and even more thrilled when I was chosen to read the first few chapters as a sneak peek into the next part of Violeta and Rowan's story.

It does not disappoint! My gods, I can't wait for the rest of the book to be released. Forestfall picks up a short time after the events of Lakesedge, and there's a new desperation even in the early pages to fix what had gone wrong with their plan in the past. Being stuck in the World Below with the Lord Under, having to find her way home (if there is such a way) to her friends and family and love...

Lyndall Clipstone is a brilliant author, and I knew from page one that this book would sink its claws in and demand to be devoured. I can't wait for the rest of the story!

I was so eager to re-enter the world of Lakesedge and these preview chapters have only increased my anticipation. It looks like Forestfall will jump right in where Lakesedge ended and the emotional fallout of Leta’s sacrifice. We see the world through Rowan’s eyes and through his grief while also exploring the world Below with Leta and Lord Under.

This taste of what is to come was so enjoyable! I cannot wait for September to finish this gothic fantasy duaology!
