I was given an ebook copy from Netgalley and the publisher so I want to thank them first. The artwork was beautiful. I loved the fact that they keep calling it a dog. This manga was a quick and calming read. Loved the comedic bit. As for a story... it was just a girl and her dog. If you are looking for something cute and light I really suggest this book!

This was really cute and a bit funny. A tanuki that can write, I actually thought it was a cat Nothing really serious, just a short and cute slice of life manga.

Our protagonist adopts an animal that communicates by writing notes, and every time the question what kind of animal they are comes up, they write "I'm a dog".

Very cute stories in a kind of comic strip style, that fill only a few pages. Slice of life about having a tanuki as a pet. Utterly adorable. I am going to recommend this to so many people!

The arc was provided by the publisher.

Absolutely adorable!
The main character adopts a stray tanuki that she mistakes for a dog, starting a sweet and joyful relationship. This light-hearted story is told in short episodes that are beautiful in their simplicity while clearly communicating humor and emotion.
The art style is detailed and simply gorgeous - one of my favorites ever!
I hope there are many more volumes of the adventures of these two.

I am alternately bemused and enchanted by this. The art is cute and the Tanuki (? Why is this a question?)
is a sweetheart.
But there's not much plot other than girl and Tanuki hang out and no one questions it.
So A for art and cuteness
C- for plot.
3.5 to 4 stars, because I did breeze right through this.

I absolutely adored this, it isn’t super long, but I so enjoyed my time with it. The mini stories, following their lives with the ‘dog’ are beautiful. I love the illustrations, very nicely done. I will certainly read through this again, and I so hope there will be a volume 2! We all love our furry companions, and this manga illustrates this well. Thank you for my copy of this.

A super cute slice of life about a woman who finds a tanuki on the box on the side of a road and thinks it's a dog so she takes it home. This story is a bit silly and very endearing!

Thank you to NetGalley, Kodansha Comics, and Ko Nikaido for the opportunity to read this manga in exchange for an honest review.

This is super cute. Not much of an overarching story, but something easy and laid back. Th main character finds a "dog" in a box on the street, though it's actually a tanuki (raccoon). This tanuki can write words on a notepad to express its wants and feelings. While the girl never seems to realize it's not a dog, she loves it and everyone around is skeptical, but see how much happiness the tanuki brings her.

The art is great and the relationship between the girl and the tanuki is absolutely adorable. Very cute and would recommend for something light, simple, and heart-warming.

An adorable and heart-warming slice-of-life manga!

With You and the Rain by Ko Nikaido focuses on the daily life of a woman and her strange pet she rescued one rainy day. It has short stories that feature a different aspect of their everyday life, sort of like how The Way of the Househusband by Kousuke Oono is drawn and written.

I enjoyed this so much. It’s so beautifully drawn and reflects the tone and pacing of the story.

This manga is absurd at times that it’s so funny. Especially during the trips to the vet! The poor doctor! The beauty of this manga is the relationship between the owner and her pet - how much they seem to be each other's support in the most unassuming ways. There are poignant bits on the manga that I find utterly charming, like the woman and her pet boosting the self-esteem of their kid neighbor. It’s a touch reflective too, like the bit on feeling lost. This manga really is right up my alley of what I love in a slice-of-life manga, and I’m looking forward to more of this!

Thank you so much, NetGalley and Kodansha, for my eARC in exchange for honest feedback.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a slice-of-life, found pet manga. The pet in question? Well, it's maybe a dog. It seems to think it is anyway, as it uses its handy dandy notebook to express on several occasions. The story is told through vignette-style snippets in the life of the main character and the tanuki, neither of which have names. They have their little adventures and it is a pretty cute/wholesome trip.

I wish there was more going on here to really sink my teeth into. I would give the storyline a 2 and the art/aesthetic a 4, so I'll split the difference and call this a 3-star manga. If you've got some spare time and you're especially fond of slice-of-life, lighthearted manga without much in the way of story or conflict, you might find this fitting for a quick read.

It was just really cute. The art was pretty and the characters were sweet. Also nice humor. That's pretty much all there is to say!

I was totally disappointed with the book. When I read the title and saw the cover page image, I imagined a cute story building up with the pet. The conversation was abstract and not even a single character was impressive. I couldn't relate to the events happening even at a single point not was able to follow the flow of the story. It would've been nice if there was more focus on setting up the ambience before starting each chapter or the conversations between the characters.

Overall very sweet, but the characters didn't capture my attention as much as other similar novels/manga. I suppose I gravitate more to bold or deeply reflective narrators.

Thanks to Kodansha Comics and Net Galley :)

This was a very cute read. It's a slice of life about a young woman who finds a "dog"on the streets and adopts it. This is my first slice of life manga I've read and it was a great experience. I wish i had known more about the protagonist and the "dog"'s names and a little of their histories but maybe i'll see that in book 2. Aside from that i loved the atmosphere and the art. It looked very cute

With You and the Rain is absolutely adorable! It is a slice of life story about a woman and her newly adopted dog (?) living their everyday lives together. They take trips to the vet, go on a beach trip, and show off the dog’s special trick to family and friends. Some people aren’t sure if this new creature is really a dog. But if it’s cute and fluffy like a dog, it’s probably a dog! I loved the delightful and expressive art style used in these simple stories. I can’t wait for more in the series.

With You and the Rain is a cute heartfelt comedy manga. Many of the jokes are contained to one page vignettes with the supposed "dog" of the cover.
The art was pretty and there was this comforting atmosphere of family/community that is found and made (the dog, the vet, the neighbor). But notably the main character doesn't really have a name and the dog doesn't either. There is little backstory to the characters and the main characters' jobs are unknown as well. It's cute, but lacks development at the moment - though book two may address that.
Does a comedy need that kind of development? Perhaps not, but I personally think that the development lends itself to more memorable characters and more feeling toward their hijinks.
For now, I think this is a three out of five - cute, sweet, fun, but a little simple.

This was such a cute manga!
At first, I thought I wasn't gonna enjoy it because of how short the chapters were, but I ended up actually laughing out loud.
The dad is so funny and the "dog" is so cute, wouldn't mind reading volume two.

I like this cute graphic novel. It's a cute story.
This young lady found a "dog" on the street. The "dog" can write! Brilliant!
And it's not a dog. It's a tanuki.
Looking forward to the next episode of this series.

So cute! But I am biased for tanukis!!!
Reminds me a great deal of A Man and His Cat and I love it.
There are several very short stories in this sweet slice of life with a twist of magical realism manga.
It does get a little confusing in places. Maybe it didn't translate well or I'll need to look at it with fresh eyes in the morning. Whatever is the case, I love this and can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy

This was such a cute and quick manga read. The art-style is adorable and i'm glad I was able to read this because now I know of the existence of Japanese racoon dogs, also known as Tanuki. Nothing too eventful happens throughout the volume (hence the 3 star), it's quite simple... Yet still enjoyable! A great manga to pick-up when feeling low ((:
