I enjoyed this manga with all of the characters within. The main character was Mizuha.

Mizuha is having a really bad birthday because her parents forgot about it and also the guy she like is not interested in her. When she meets up with her friends they try to make her happy. Plus she get kiss my one of  childhood friend on her birthday and is very surprised. While going to school she must try to find out what happened to make one of her friends like her and wants to date her.

This was fun to read. It had action and drama throughout. It had a few giggles within. The illustrations want well with the story. This is the first book in the series.

“Anyways I’m Falling in Love with You” is a sports romance that plays on the trope of best friends to lovers. This story expresses the youth and growth of the characters in a way that will draw in the reader and make them root for them. The art was completely gorgeous and matched the story it was telling.

This was a very sweet manga that I would be intrigued to read more of if I come across it anywhere. Personally, I really liked the artwork as it was not too simple, but also not too much going on either. The story starts of fairly light but definitely has some darker themes (death/trauma) that were dealt with delicately.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*
We follow our MC who is the only girl in a friendship group of five, who have all grown up together and she views as siblings. It becomes clear that she likes Shin but that the feelings are not returned. Similarly, Kizuki likes her and she repeatedly friendzones him, constantly stating that she sees him as the baby of the group (ouch)! The story is taking place in 2020 where the pandemic is starting affect their lives and what they can do outside of school. When our MC goes to study and Shin doesn't turn up, she goes to head home, even though there is a storm outside and it becomes clear that she is very fearful on thunder and lightning for a deeper reason (reminder of the day her mom passed) than just not liking storms. Just when it seems that she isn't going to make it home, Kizuki appears and 'saves the day'. This seems to be the turning point for her and she appears to be falling in love with him, but buries it under a lot of denial. We end on a cliffhanger and love triangle... who will she choose?

The art is wonderful but the story looks pretty boring to me. There's no deep in the characters, Mizuho seems pretty oblivious and silly and her best friends are cutting with the same pattern. This first volume is strange because I don't know where the story is going.

While the plot and characterization was pretty standard and predictable, the art style was beautiful and enough to keep me engaged.

Pretty standard high school romance, albeit very nicely drawn, with the twist that the students are coping with all their important milestones (sports competitions, school trips) getting canceled due to COVID. It's kind of weird that that's the ONLY way that COVID shows up in the story -- nobody is wearing masks, nobody needs to get tested, nobody gets sick or talks about anyone getting sick or the millions of people dying around the world. The romance itself is slightly offputting (a boy decides that he wants his childhood friend to see him as a man and fall in love with him, so he starts acting very pushy despite her telling him she doesn't see him that way) but well within the bounds of the genre.

Mizuha est la seule fille dans un groupe d’amis d’enfance de 4 garçons. Elle adore ses amis d’enfance et ne voit que de l’amitié entre eux. Alors qu’elle est triste suite à un rejet de la part d’un jeune homme avec qui elle voulait sortir, elle reçoit la confession surprenante d’un de ses amis d’enfance. Elle ne soupçonnait pas de tels sentiments romantiques dans leur groupe et Mizuha appréhende les changements qu’une telle relation pourrait apporter.
J’ai beaucoup aimé la thématique de l’évolution des sentiments qui peut arriver entre des amis d’enfance. J’aime beaucoup les relations où avant d’être un couple, les deux personnes sont des amis. Évidemment, trouver un équilibre entre l’amitié et l’amour est difficile et j’ai trouvé que ce premier tome abordait bien la question.
C’est un manga romantique, doux et je me demande ce qu’il en sera de la suite.

This is a first romantic volume, with a cute story, which I enjoyed reading.
Mizuha is the only girl in a childhood friend group of 4 guys. She adores her childhood friends and sees nothing but friendship between them. Saddened by a rejection from a young man she wanted to date, she receives a surprising confession from one of her childhood friends. She didn't suspect such romantic feelings in their group and Mizuha fears the changes such a relationship could bring.
I really liked the theme of the evolution of feelings that can happen between childhood friends. I really like relationships where before being a couple, the two people are friends. Obviously, finding a balance between friendship and love is difficult and I found that this first volume tackled the question well.
It's a romantic, sweet manga and I wonder what will happen next.

The first volume of this manga introduces us to the 5 main characters and how an event can change the friendship they have had for a long time.

Mizuho, ​​Kizuki, Airu, Shin and Shuugo are childhood friends and go to the same school grade. They have a friendship relationship in which they keep no secrets from each other, and everything is perfect until on Mizuho's birthday, she is rejected by the boy she likes and later Kizuki declares her love towards her. Mizuho doesn't know what to do, because Kizuki has always been like a brother to her and she doesn't want her friendship to break, but things are changing little by little and the other boys won't remain indifferent.

It is the typical shojo in which the group of friends is secretly in love with the girl and nobody says anything until one of them makes the first move and everything falls apart. I really like the drawing style, and the story seems to be very soft and I want to see how Mizuho falls in love little by little and if she really falls in love with Kizuki or another of the boys.

What I don't like so much, and I hope it doesn't happen, is that all the boys fall in love with her. Out of four that are, at least two of them might not and keep seeing her as a friend and support her. I also hope they don't fight each other, breaking the beautiful relationship they have now, but it's something you can see coming from afar :(

I found it curious that the manga takes place during the pandemic, it's the first one I've read like this.

If you like romantic manga with clichés I recommend it, this first volume doesn't have much of a plot, but in the end it gets interesting, so volume 2 promises a lot.

This manga follows a girl reflecting on her time in high school in 2020, from the year 2030. She has four guy friends, and this manga explores her relationship with them,

I unfortunately decided to DNF this manga; I wasn’t feeling particular attached to any of the characters and did not find myself caring for the romance, I particularly did not enjoy the character Kizuki and his talk of only seeing the main character Mizuho as a woman and how she as such a man (especially when they were all still fairly young). He was extremely pushy towards her.

This new shoujo follows a girl and her four childhood friends during spring 2020 as their feelings for each other slowly change. Starting out with a terrible birthday in 2030, Mizuha reflects back on ten years ago when she had another terrible birthday, one that resulted in her childhood friend Kizuki confessing feelings for her. Over the course of the manga, the mounting anxiety of competitions getting canceled and dreams being dashed somehow makes the five friends' feelings and their springtime youth shine brighter.

I thought it was really interesting to have a romance story set during the start of the pandemic. I loved the author's intention, but something about the character design and plot ended up falling slightly flat for me. I think if you're someone who enjoys sweet shoujo with a bit of a reverse harem, you'll most likely enjoy this quick read without a problem.

This story was so sweet and fun. An older Mizuho reminiscing of her cheerful high school years, when she was totally carefree, happy, and the budding romance between her and Kizuki whom she only saw as a little brother until he takes it upon himself to make her see him as a man.
But, frankly, this was a little too short as a first volume. I would've liked a larger introduction to the rest of the recurring cast of characters around the main two. Will I be continuing this series? Maybe.

I love a good romance manga but I'm honestly not sure how I feel about this one! My favorite part, hands down, was the artwork. It was absolutely stunning.

The story follows a five teenagers: Mizuha, and her four best friends who all happen to be male. They've been best friends since childhood, but other than that simple statement, we aren't given too much backstory about their relationship. I feel like this one is going to evolve into a reverse harem, which I'm not necessarily against, but it feels rather forced. Literally. One of her friends, Kizuki, goes on and on about how he no longer sees her as a childhood friend, but instead as a woman who he will make fall in love with him. His actions are creepy and uncomfortable, and I really didn't like how he, or his relationship with her, was portrayed.

This story has a lot of tropes that I typically enjoy in romance stories -- friends to dating, sports romance, love triangles -- but I didn't enjoy how it was executed in this one. I'm tempted to read the next volume to see how things play out, but I'm also not holding my breath. At the very least, I know there will be more beautiful artwork!

This manga is set during a pandemic, which is a very promising start and the art is gorgeous. However, the plot is a bit weak, I'm not a fan of the reverse harem so this story is not on my must-have list.

Who doesn't love a sweet romantic manga with a slow-burning plot? That's what readers will get if they pick up Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You Vol. 1, written and illustrated by Haruka Mitsui. Oh, I should mention that this read will be perfect for fans of the friends-to-lovers trope.

Mizuha has had the same group of friends since she was a kid. They're all super close, even now that they're steadily growing up. All five kids have grown into attractive teenagers, though Mizuha has only ever seen the four boys as her best friends.

That is, right up until Kizuki confesses his feelings for Mizuha. Now she's confused and struggling to process her feelings while dealing with the pressure his presence provides.

Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You Vol. 1 is a sweet and slow-burning romance, one that could easily last a dozen volumes if the creator felt so inclined. Mizuha is likewise a lovable character who is admittedly quite (adorably) naive.

I'll admit that I struggled to get to know each of her friends at first. I do feel like more time getting to know them on an individual level would have helped me appreciate them all more – not to mention helped me tell the others apart.

It's quickly apparent that Mizuha and Kizuki are the focus on Anyway, I'm Falling in Love with You Vol. 1, so at times the others almost blend into the background. Which is fine, just something I felt the need to point out.

I did enjoy that the author added little notes here and there, telling readers what the plan had been (before the pandemic messed it all up, that is). Sometimes it is nice to see behind the curtain, you know?

Love the art, didn’t dig the story.

The art on this one is GORGEOUS!!! I love the group pictures at the beginning, immediately gives you an idea what this author can do. The actual art is a little more standard manga style, but every now and then, GORGEOUS art appears. So it’s earning some stars there.

The story telling is also a little different with it being basically a series of recollections from an older Mizuha looking back on her teenage years. Why, because she’s having a bad birthday, which reminded her of another bad birthday she had when she was 17. Ironically, she turned 17 in 2020, the second year we lived with COVID (COIVD hit rough February-March 2019 in my area of the world). I really don’t want COVID romance to become a thing…But we’re still living it in 2022, so it probably will. I am living it, I don’t need to read it. Lol

Anyhow…back to Mizuha’s ten years ago recollection of 2020.

Mizuha and Kizuki are part of a group of five best friends. Mizuha is the only girl in the group, which is populated by some handsome looking boys. Mizua has been friends with Kizuki since they were kids. She’s always thought of him as something of a brother. In fact, she has only ever thought of all her guy friends as brothers. Kizuki, however, starts thinking of her in a more romantic type way. But she’s crushing on an upperclassman who so happens to be on his swim team… so she confessions…and is shot down…on her birthday. Ouch. Kizuki kind of...claims/asks her to be his girlfriend? This dude is extremely…pushy for my taste.

I don’t like him as the main ‘love interest’ character for Mizuha, though after reading the whole volume, which I found a tad short, I feel like this thing is going to get a love triangle going, if not a square or octagon or whatever. Not my favorite cliché. Point is, this guy does not practice the fine (and VERY important) art of consent. He takes what he wants in the form of kisses without any sort of permission. I don’t like it. At all. And when she tells him no, well he goes away only to come back for more later. Ugh.

The birthday thing redeems the story a little.

Conclusion

If Kizuki wasn’t such a pushy young man that is needing a good slap, this would be a pretty good manga. I loved the art, but I don’t like how Kizuki just takes what he wants from Mizuha without any form of consent and ultimately doesn’t respect her when she tells him no.

I probably won’t be reading the rest of them because if she ends up with him after that I will be very annoyed. What kind of messaging does that send into the world?

Actual rating is 2.5 stars.

Mizuha is just about to turn 17 but everything is changing around her. The childhood friend she's always seen as a baby brother has ascended through the swim team and become something of a school heartthrob. While said heartthrob has eyes for her, Mizuna herself has been crushing on an upperclassmen on the team. Yet, a virus puts a damper on the swim team's competitions and when she tries to comfort her crush he rebuffs her. Maybe it'll be her childhood friend who can comfort her broken heart? Or...?

I thought this was cute and well-illustrated. Mizuha has quite a few male friends and I do like that this hasn't taken the harem angle with them. Admittedly, I wasn't quite ready for something that dealt with the pandemic so straight-forwardly. It definitely caught me off guard but I would be interested to see how the author handles this going forward.

This manga was so so good. The artwork was incredible, it was beautiful for sure. The story I would say was exactly how I imagine shoujo should look like. It was full of romance and especially it was high school/college romance. Story is full of characters and each is really different, but together they are a perfect combination. It had some cute tropes as well.

What I didn't expect to see here, but I was pretty happy to found was pandemic, it was fun to find reflections and topics relevant at the moment.

Kodansha Comics doesn't stop to impress me. This story and manga was really one of the best ones. Also thank you for Net Galley and Kodansha Comics for giving me an opportunity to read this amazing creation for exchange of an honest review.

My heart! I adored this shoujo, through & through! I’m gonna need a physical copy of this ASAP, Kodansha! The artwork was so wonderful, and fit the tone of the story perfectly. The story had me reminiscing about my own high school days and all of the butterflies and confusion and excitement involving first love, friendships, and teenage drama. And that cliffhanger?! I NEED volume 2!
