Full of suspense and heat this is a very good read. Trixie is so complex and conflicted. Malcolm is fierce, driven and exacting. They clash long before they click. The ending is great as well. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and freely leave this honest review.

This is my second book by Kait Ballenger and I enjoyed this one so much I read it in less than a day!

Malcolm and Trixie (our MCs) were such a great couple, because they wanted to trust each other and other people so badly, but had been burned before by life.

The way that Malcolm and Trixie ended up together was perfect for them and the binding spell that Trixie had been put under. It just really made me happy that even throughout the trials they had been put through separately and while seeing each other, they were still able to apologize and trust each other.

P.S. Shoutout to Ballenger for including this perfect line: "And that's bi erasure, Look it up."

Malcolm gets the last story in this series. How would I describe him, broody, angry, sad. Yes his sad as his mate Bo was killed.

Trixie is a complicated character, that you need to take the time to see the real her.

Malcolm has a connection to the waitress, he sits there brooding but not acting on instincts, until he does!

The sexy scenes are hot, and there's a few 🔥

The characters were well written, the action and storyline kept you interested.

I admit for me, the parts of the story dealing with the pack's war wit the vampires and others was a bit of a distraction to get thru till it got back to the part I enjoyed -- Malcolm & Trixie's developing relationship. Both Malcolm and Trixie have been hurt in the past so have built up walls to protect themselves from others and defense mechanisms to keep others from trying to get too close. for Malcolm its being gruff and growly (even for a werewolf) and for Trixie it's being sassy and flirty. but behind those walls are not just pasts and secrets that haunt them, but a lot love and tenderness waiting to be shared. There's also a lot of sparks and heat between them. I enjoyed watching them dance around those sparks while they poked holes in their walls. I also couldn't help but cheer them on as they slowly began to trust and hope even as they fought their demons and fears. Malcolm and Trixie made not just a hot & sexy couple but a sweet and tender one as well that I enjoyed watching find the HEA together. a 3.5* read: the romance 4*'s but the rest more like 3*s

Trixie and Malcolm have been flirting for a while. The attraction between the two of them is sizzling. Malcolm is too focused on the upcoming battle with the vampires to want to get into another relationship. Trixie just wants Malcolm. These two people are so lost, they do not even know how to find themselves. I love Malcolm's character. He is so broken, sad, and thoroughly bad ass. I guess you could say the same about Trixie.

When Trixie needs to come to the pack for protection the intensity in their relationship heats up. With the battle hanging over their heads the two of them turn to each other for strength. I really enjoyed this character driven story. It is always fun to catch up with characters from the previous books and many were here. I am truly sad to see this series end. That being said this was one of my favorites.

Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC.

Thanks to Netgalley, Sourcebooks Casablance and the author for an ARC of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

It wasn't until I reached the last page of this book with a satisfied sigh that I realised this is the last book in the Seven Range Shifters series. As sorry as I am to see the end of this series, I am so glad the last story was Malcolm's. The whole way through reading these books I have felt for the young shifter who lost his soulmate and never really felt he belonged to the Grey Wolves.

As usual the author treats her characters with sensitivity and empathy - I loved Trixie and was drawn immediately to her combination of bravado and kindness. There were plenty of sparks flying between the pair from the beginning - which was fun to read.

I'll miss this series but hopefully this author will keep writing books like this - I'm hooked now.

I’m board reading this book. I can’t connect to the characters and really don’t understand what’s happening in the first few chapters so I got board and stopped reading. They are all super naturals what makes one breed worse then the rest? The dialogue is ok, but the main male character is so gruff and doesn’t do a lot of talking and the female main character is all over the place. Scattered thoughts and worrying about others and how much time she has left working under this contract, I was just confused. I got about 5 chapters in and this just wasn’t doing it for me.

n Cowboy Wolf Outlaw , Kait Ballenger brings romance, action, and some suspense to the sixth (and final) book in the Seven Range Shifters paranormal romantic suspense series. Set in contemporary times in rural Montana near Billings, this novel features Grey Wolf assassin Malcolm Grey and Beauregard, a witch who can tell when someone is lying.

Malcolm is broody, withdrawn, and suffering from grief from the loss of his mate Bo followed by the death of his friend Austin. The pack is facing another battle with the vampires and the Volk featured in the last book. Trixie knows Malcolm is a wolf shifter and that the pack is in trouble. She also knows they’re attracted to each other, and trouble seems to follow her. Both are miserable, but can they find happiness?

Malcolm and Trixie are both somewhat broken characters. They have known each other for a year or so, but never dated. However, Trixie has flirted with him. They show a little growth over the course of the novel, but it seemed to happen too suddenly. These protagonists are definitely not boring, but will their secrets and flaws eventually doom the romance? There are some familiar secondary characters from previous novels that add conflict and support.

The plot was not as suspenseful as previous novels in the series, despite having several action scenes. This allowed the reader time to get to know the main characters and how they interacted as well as slowly building the suspense level. Will they take a chance on a happily ever after or will circumstances prevent it?

I cheered on the protagonists as the story progressed and became ever more dangerous and unusual. It held my attention and contained the elements that I love in this genre of books except for the weaker suspense. This book delivers on escapism through attraction, friendship, family, relationships, and romance while also tackling other serious issues including secrets, stressful situations, lies, domestic violence, revenge, and selfless sacrifice for others.

Overall, it was engaging, entertaining, and had me rooting for Malcolm and Trixie. A couple of the earlier action scenes are intense. It kept my interest and covered some deeper themes if a reader looks for them. The subplots tied together well, the main characters were strong, and the ending was satisfactory. The series is best read in order. I am looking forward to seeing what the author has in store for readers next.

SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca and Kait Ballenger provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. This is my honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way. Publication date is currently set for June 28, 2022. This review was originally posted at Mystery and Suspense Magazine.

Out of respect for the author, I will not be posting my review on GoodReads.
I felt this book took a long time to setup the storyline but still left me feeling like I should have read the first five books and then it sped through the action and substance of the story too quickly. I have not read the first five due to it not being noted that this was the last book in a series. This may have changed or improved my review had I known this prior to requesting the arc.
The back and forth of the POVs was confusing to follow at times and while I know it was meant to provide more insight into the characters, I didn’t enjoy it as much.
Thanks for the opportunity to read this.

This is the final book in this series; I have read all of the books. Malcolm Grey is the assassin for the Grey Wolfs. Malcolm grew up not knowing he was a wolf in Detroit; he had a sadist stepfather who beat him and a mother that didn't care about anyone but herself. Malcolm is on the run and is caught and brought to the Grey Wolfs. Trixie Beauregard is a witch and works at a bar. She has made lots of mistakes in her life that she regrets; but staying alive is her main objective.
Trixie is recruited to spy on the Grey Wolfs; but really has fallen for Malcolm and doesn't want to spy on the pack. There is a lot of hot sparks between the two. When it all comes down to who will survive the last attack will Trixie come through for the wolves? She has been in debit to and old wizard; but it looks like he is betraying her now.
Overall, I really enjoyed Trixie and Malcolm's story. Of course, there's lots of hot sex!

What an amazing story. Never thought I would be so taken by a series about cowboy werewolf shifters, but there you have it. Simply a good read. Love seeing this world again and thoroughly enjoyed the main duo. Highly recommend this book and author. I wish I had begun reading her books when first published but am really glad have discovered her since.

Cowboy Wolf Outlaw is a relentlessly heart-stopping journey that leads to something no one ever could have imagined. I found my heart shredded as I watched the maddening injustice that our beautiful characters faced time and again. It wasn't enough to just watch them encounter it, I felt like I was a part of their story which left a small piece of them tattooed on my very soul. I devoured this story with excitement and wonder, and I hated to see it end.

Trixie is no one's fool at least not anymore. She keeps her heart in a well fortified sanctuary where no one can shatter it. The only one to wield power over her heart will be here. Meanwhile she can't say the same about her life. She trudges on day after day hoping for something better. Malcolm has his own demons to wrestle with, so he isn't concerned with anyone else's problems. Trixie knows she needs to keep away from him, but her heart won't let her abandon him as he struggles to keep his head above water. Can Malcolm prove to be more then he appears, or will Trixie find herself completely wrecked by yet another man?

I was drawn to Malcolm like lightening to a lightening rod. There was something profoundly beautiful and precious about him and his heart. He was so much more then he saw in the mirror. Trixie was equally as miserable as Malcolm except she hid it better. When those two came together it was like watching a fire blaze out of control. They couldn't control their reactions to the other any better than firefighters can control a wild fire. I fel in love with this incredible couple, and I kept hope in my heart that they could both find what they needed and wanted. Such amazing beauty to behold!

Kait Ballenger is one amazing author who knows how to suck you into an action packed story and not lose any momentum along the way. In fact, she kept it up fast and hard as she opened these two amazing characters up to us. Not a step was missed, and I was lost to it all before I knew what was happening. That is some incredible writing that blew my mind and breathed life into my heart!

This is a really intense story. Malcolm and Trixie are guarded, can't trust others and feel indebted to people who saved them in one form or another. There is a war going on, and they are trying to save those they care about, while denying their connection and protecting their hearts. I was totally engrossed in the story and absolutely loved the ending. It's never a dull moment on Gray Wolf Ranch but hopefully the crew has a time of peace.

Malcolm Grey is an assassin for the Grey Wolf Pack. He grew up not knowing he was a shifter. A traumatic event landed him with the pack, and now he owes them everything. His mate was recently killed so now he is out for revenge.
Trixie Beauregard is a truth witch who is bound to the warlock who owns the bar she works at. Many things happen at the bar she disagrees with. Trying to change things can be deadly.
This is an exciting and sexy paranormal romance that's full of action. Both our lead characters have a good reason for their trust issues. How those issues are resolved is what makes this a fascinating book.
This is the sixth book in the series, but you don't need to have read the others to enjoy this one. It would however give you closure if you have followed the series.
Great fun.

“Okay soooo this story must have ‘warnings’ about Malcolm past? Not sure how to put it on words without telling details…. I don’t care which side he moves on but at least a warning should be a good thing so as reader you won’t be surprise and the story won’t be ruined. I’m saying ruined as expecting some ‘everlasting fated mates love story’ and turns out the plot was completely different and not in a good way. He lost someone and ended up with someone completely different? Aren’t shifters suppose to have just ‘one mate’ so why the point of the story?! Or it it’s because he swings both ways he can have more than one? As a consequence, Malcom and Trixie’s… story… if there’s actually a them is fake and unrealistic! There’s no real ‘fated mates’ love story! A betrayal to the shifters romances lol. So I’m not close to finish it but with no desire to continue reading but who knows? Maybe I’d give it a second chance again but… not likely. I know for fact not everybody likes this… trope? Without a previous mention at least.”

What happens when a werewolf hell bent on revenge is forced to team up with a witch on the run for her life? Mayhem, adventure, and romance.

Malcolm is a werewolf with a tortured past, working as the executioner for the Grey Wolf Pack. He is determined to find those responsible for the death of both his best friend and mate.

Trixie is a witch who knows when someone is lying, but sometimes her skills do her more damage than good. She is stuck between her loyalties to her boss, her own survival, and her new feelings towards Malcolm.

A can't put down novel with mild enemies to lovers undertones. Absolutely perfect novel as both a final book, or the introduction to the series.

Cowboy Wolf Outlaw (Seven Range Shifters, #6) by Kait Ballenger
I am giving this book 3 stars because I didn't realize that not having read the other books in the series would leave me so lost. This is my first DNF book in years - but I just could not get into it. I don't want to ruin it for others who are reading the series.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks/Casablanca for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is book 6 in a series, and I believe the final book. I have not read all the other book, and I think this book is not a great stand alone. There is a lot of missing information, lots of backstory, so you could get confused. I had a love/hate feelings for Malcolm. He was confusing. I wondered why Trixie allowed Boss to treat her as he did. The ending seemed forced and was sort of a let down. I was a bit confused and conflicted about this book. Did I love it? like it? So for now I am giving it a 3.
