An easy, entertaining read set mostly in a Cornish village. Fairly predictable, the plot is OK , the characters typical for this genre of book and overcome adversity to live their lives. I personally found the American turn of phrases irritating, starting with the first few pages with sidewalks and repeated gottens and getting onto bangs (instead of a fringe).
All in all a good summer read . My thanks to Net Galley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

Another fantastic Jill Mansell book! Really loved the story line and character descriptions and the style of writing

This book revolves a lot around the question of whether or not to tell the other person about your true feelings. How most of us have insecurities that make us hold back in life. As usual Mansell delivers on storyline and relatable characters. A very good read for the romance lovers.

This review is based on the ARC I recieved from NetGalley.

This was an entertaining read, full of interesting and diverse storylines that weave together themes of love, loss, grief, betrayal, and forgiveness complemented by a light touch of humor.

Amber Nicholls, Lachlan McCarthy, and Raffaele Wright formed a deep bond through their shared experience of living with May and Teddy Penhaligon, a devoted couple who fostered many troubled youth over the years. Each has successfully established themselves in creative careers, but have challenges in being able to engage in enduring love relationships. When Teddy, now a widower, meets Olga, a new love interest on a cruise, the three “siblings” have a vested interest in making sure that this woman is worthy of their beloved foster father.

Peggy, a wealthy businesswoman-turned-artist, has a flamboyant personality that overshadows Benjie, her beloved and incredibly shy son. When she employees well-intended, but misguided means to encourage his socializing, it backfires with predictable results.

Despite the multiple points of view and the stream of secondary characters presented as the novel unfolds, I had no trouble keeping track of the key players and their issues. The author’s style is clear and her development of the primary characters made them relatable and believable in their human frailties. I found this book an enjoyable excursion into a small seaside town and its somewhat quirky residents.

My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This review is being posted immediately to my GoodReads account and will be posted on Amazon upon publication.

Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is a heartwarming story of a close-knit family brought together by compassionate foster parents, Teddy, and dearly departed, May.

Amber, Lachlan, and Raffaele were all taken in as foster kids in the seaside town by Teddy and May and they kept a life-long, unbreakable bond.

After Teddy meets Olga on a cruise and has declared his love alarmingly fast, the trio is ever-protective and concerned for their foster dad thinking Olga could be after his money.

This story follows the perspective of the trio of friends/family, along with a young man who lives in the same seaside town with his wealthy mom, Peggy who is tied closely to Lachlan, a chef extraordinaire.

They navigate life's challenges, secrets, shame, and love and ultimately it is the love that is the guiding force of this book.

It's such a sweet story and the third book I’ve read recently that follows multiple POVs, which initially takes me longer to get into but ultimately each character's story arch pulls at my heartstrings. I really enjoyed this book! The beachy locale and sweet stories captured my heart.

It's been a while since I last read a novel by Jill Mansell, but as I read Should I Tell You? I immediately remembered what I've always liked about this author: her ability to bring characters you can't help but cheer for to life!
This book is about redemption, friendship, family and love. It really is a harmoniously blended novel with many different characters and situations... and I loved them all because every poignant story told in this book made me believe there's a happy ending for everyone out there!

Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for providing me with an arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.

It’s hard to know how to review this book without spoilers. Looking back, I guess everything ended up in a pretty predictable manner, and there were happy endings aplenty. But Ms. Mansell threw enough doubt into the equation that I thought things might take an unexpected turn in at least one of a couple of cases. I wish that the unexpected had happened in one instance. I wasn’t 100% all-in with the outcome of one of the romances. Not enough work was done to convince me of a happy ever after there. There were still too many red flags at the end despite jumping to a very optimistic and rosy final chapter, where we revisit the ensemble cast 3 years later. Plus, one of the heroines, though nice and likable, was kind of a non-entity. Since I felt her story was the main focus, it had a detrimental effect on my enjoyment of the book. There were two other couples whose journey ended up being more satisfying and entertaining. In one, I wasn’t sure if one of the partners was good or evil, and in the other, I felt like the relationship was a lost cause for sure, until it wasn’t. The latter story included an explanation of a character's behavior that came as a surprise, yet make perfect sense. The former was a delight and I enjoyed it very much. The fourth of the stories had some troubling aspects and was borderline creepy and I didn’t enjoy it at all at the end. I liked it at first.

The plots were well constructed and everything was closed out satisfactorily except the doubts as to one person’s character which I’ve already stated. There was a lot going on and a lot of characters to engage my interest, which I like. The overall tone was light and amusing, though some serious and scary things were touched on, as with most women’s fiction. Despite my quibbles, I felt I was in good hands with Ms. Mansell.

As usual Barclay doesn’t disappoint. Story is always twisted and hard to predict the ending. Enjoyed this one very much and highly recommend!

I really enjoyed Should I Tell You! Jill Mansell created likeable and relatable characters whose journeys are interesting yet entertaining. She crafted a work that was the perfect balance of fluff and substance. There are plenty of life lessons woven throughout the text, reminding the reader of the importance of family, love, and relationships, without being too preachy. Truly enjoyable!

Jill is one I go to when I need an uplifting, real, engaging story.
And this book is probably one of her best yet!

Should I Tell You? is a heartwarming, realistic, remarkable read.
The characters are so vividly drawn, you are interested and invested in everyone.
They very real dealing with real life issues and I loved that, I could see them in my mind’s eye.
The way she brings her characters to life and writes her descriptions makes the book come alive. It feels like your right in there with them. The play of emotions is just outstanding
Jill Mansell has such a beautiful writing style- you really engage with the story and characters. You can imagine yourself in the middle of everything.
I was honestly swept away with this one. And didn't want it to end.
I really enjoyed reading Amber, Lachlan, and Raffaele's story.

Family is not the one you share the same blood but those who love you as you are . The three friends at some point in their life they were fostered by a lovely couple . Now that their foster dad meets at a cruise a younger lady they are worried that she is a gold digger and they want to protect him . I liked that the book was not only about those characters but we see the secondary characters develop .
I received this book from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Reading this book is like going on an extended holiday by the beach. You spend a bit of time getting to know the locals. There's quite a few, but they are a fun bunch, although not without a few dramas. The more time you spend, the more you really get to know them. You even begin to really like some of them. Understandably, you are a little bit sad when the holiday is over and you have to go home, cos you are going to miss all your new friends.

If there was a sequel, I'd be lining up to grab it. Just saying.

I've read a number of Jill Mansell books over the years, and I can't think of one I didnt like. This is no exception. Should I Tell You is heartwarming, funny, surprising and all round good fun.

Amber, Lachlan and Raffaele are all taken in as foster children, spending their childhood on the cornish coast until their futures take them in different directions. Amber is in love with Lachlan, Lachlan has a reputation but is in love with Amber but does not move their relationship forward for fear of losing their friendship. Raffaele is in love with Vee who in turn cant bear the sight of him.
Teddy loses his wife to cancer and tries to forget his sorrow by embarking on a cruise holiday where he meets a much younger Olga.
The stories intertwine and you begin to really root for each character.

Mansell's characters are lovable, raw and believable. Her tale sucks you in and before long, it's 2 am in the morning and you have read many chapters of her book.

A gorgeous read, perfect for summer.

You can never go wrong with a Mansell book for a touch heart warming read. When three adults who spent time in foster care band together to protect their foster Dad, Teddy from his new love, Olga, your heart becomes attached to the story and characters. Wonderful.

I usually enjoy Mansell’s books more than this. This story wasn’t bad by any means, I just think it’s not as good as her previous ones. When three former foster kids learn their foster dad is seeing a new woman, they want to make sure she’s not using him for his money. You get to know everyone in this book…..the 3 foster—now adults, the foster dad, and few other characters that live in this seaside town. Everyone has something going on, but everyone is supportive of each other & you really get to know everyone. It was an ok book, with ok characters. Just not my favorite of Jill’s.

I enjoyed reading Should I Tell You? by Jill Mansell! I loved the characters and felt they complemented each other and the story very well. Amber, Lachlan, and Raffaele are three close friends who met when they lived with foster parents May and Teddy. Of all the foster kids who lived with the kind couple, only these three have settled close to their foster parents. May has passed away and Teddy is grieving each day, but the three friends try to be a support to him. Amber decides Teddy should take a cruise to meet new friends and break his cycle of missing May. The friends didn't expect Teddy to come home with a girlfriend, Olga, who seems too vibrant, colorful, and loud to be good for Teddy.
Amber is a stained-glass artisan with her own shop. She has always felt attracted to Lachlan but hesitates to let him know. She spends time with him at his restaurant and tries to tell Lachlan he is too suspicious of Olga's motives toward Teddy. There are several humorous scenes between the friends, either when Lachlan hatches a plan for their friend Dom to try and charm Olga or when Raffaele has his own dramas with Vee who doesn't hesitate to voice her opinions. I laughed at the late-night facetime conversation between Lachlan and Amber as they watched 'Cooking with the Enemy' and Polly throws pebbles at Lachlan's window!
This story is full of heart-felt scenes and interesting twists among friends and family.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

Teddy Penhaligon has been pining for his late wife and is finally persuaded to go on a cruise by his foster daughter Amber. Now his other foster kids are worried that he's picked up a gold-digger, Olga is a larger than life character that has latched herself onto Teddy and he's smitten. Jill Mansell is one of my favourite authors and has excelled herself with this book. It's filled with richness and texture; we get to fall in love with a range of different characters see their failings and their quirks. I totally loved it and enjoyed all the subplots and stories along the way. Highly recommended.

This is the first time I've read work by this author and look forward to reading more! While I did enjoy Should I Tell You?, I was not drawn in right from the start. But, the characters were likable, and by the end, I truly cared what happened to them. In contrast to some of the darker books I've read lately, this book was refreshingly simple and was exactly what I needed!
