Without a doubt I knew King and Chizmar would knock this third and final book in the series right out of the park! Gwendy is on a mission to save the world from the evil the Button Box has to offer. She is an amazing heroine and from the beginning we know we can and should have faith in her to accomplish this goal. I read and read until I could read no more in order to finish this book. I had to know the ending. It has a satisfying ending.

This book does not disappoint and if you have read the first two you must read this. What is cool is that some familiar things will pop up from King’s other writings. What a joy! Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC. I always appreciate being able to read and give an honest review.

Despite certain elements of the story feeling contrived and one major plot point in particular that essentially goes without explanation, this final entry in the Gwendy saga is entertaining, thought-provoking and ultimately satisfying as the conclusion to a story that became epic in its scope. Sharing some themes with the recent King novella Elevation, the third Gwendy is less horror/thriller than supernatural adventure. The primary source of dread in this story is derived from the protagonist's degenerative cognitive condition, which the authors brilliantly enhance with an unconventional and dangerous setting. Attempting to put Gwendy in context with the Dark Tower and other references to the King universe may have been ill-advised, but in general, fans of the first two books will be glad they stuck around for the conclusion.

Thanks to Cemetery Dance Publications and NetGalley for the ARC.

Of course Stephen King is everyone's favorite author and now I personally have another favorite Richard Chizmar. He last book that I read was so awesome-Chasing the Boogeyman!! I didn't want it to end and felt so real to me. I hope you go and read it also along with Gwendy's Final Task. I recommend you read the first 2 of the series but you don't have to. But it helps I think. Gwendy's so strong and has a wonderful life, married, a congresswoman and an author. But then from the 1st book comes the box back..............
Get busy reading!!

Gwendy has suffered from the possession of the button box through the years, but every good, and bad thing, must come to an end. Richard Farris has paid his last few visits, and from the looks of him, is coming to his end as well. The box gives but also exacts a terrible price for its generosity, and who in the world can be trusted with such a lethal, final answer to humanity? Gwendy has that particular final task, to rid the world of the threat of the button box once and for all, away from greedy hands, small minds and large egos. But where to dispose it away from all contact? The box has burdened Gwendy with the cruelest of ailments as she strives to protect the whole world from what she knows wants most to destroy it. I absolutely loved the book and was sad to see the series end.

This is a fitting end to a terrific series. In this third story, Gwendy is thinking about running for the U.S. Senate when Richard Farris shows up yet again to ask for her help with the very dangerous button box. He wants the box destroyed, but the shocking way he wants it destroyed requires a great deal of time and effort from Gwendy. Stephen King fans will notice some clever references from King's literary world, which makes sense since he is a co-author. I enjoyed this series very much. I may go back and re-read the trilogy now that I can read them together. I have often wondered what I would do if I owned the button box. I can only hope I would behave as selflessly and bravely as Gwendy does. Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for providing an ARC.

Wow! Stephen King and Richard Chizmar are at it again! As is Gwendy! Another bold and daring tale featuring this strong heroine. Can Gwendy save the human race and the world as we know it? Written with wit, this novel keeps you hooked the whole way through. Written only as King does…it is both thought-provoking & entertaining.
