Something Wilder set out to be more of an adventure romp than a true romance or mystery. This wasn't for me but I do understand that plenty of readers will enjoy this. It frustrated me when the first member of the group had something happen to them and the group as a whole just sort of moved past it without much of a thought. It seemed disconnected to the way the authors had set up the characters sense of responsibility. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Obvious and light (for the most part), Something Wilder is middle of the road fun from Christina Lauren. Lily and Leo are lovers turned enemies turned lovers following the trail of Butch Cassidy using a map drawn by Lily's late father, treasure hunter Duke Wilder.
The setting was fun - who doesn't like cowboys and canyons? - and the story had it's page-turning sections, but I didn't feel the chemistry between the main characters.
My thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If Christina Lauren writes it, then I am going to read it! That being said, I did really enjoy Something Wilder, but it was not my favorite of theirs. Still a 4.5 stars for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC.

Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC to read/review! Something Wilder is a second chance contemporary romance with the perfect amount of mystery/adventure. The book centers around Lily Wilder who is the daughter of a treasure hunter, Duke Wilder. After her father passed, Lily started making a living by leading fake hunts in the rock canyons. She meets her new group and suddenly has a second chance with a man she met “in another life”, Leo. The adventure that Christina Lauren puts you on is one that I was NOT expecting but I loved! Leo was smart and so sure of himself and Lily was such a refreshing strong FMC. This book makes me want to go to my happy place in the mountains!!! 4.5/5
The book came out May 17!!

Christina Lauren can't go wrong, they just can't. And this time, they took us to the Wild Wild West, which was an unexpected ride given their previous books. That said, to me, the book got a little too lost in the descriptions and could have been a little more succinct or spent that time on building relationships. But overall, there was no way I wasn't going to finish this book which got me hooked with all of its twists!

Something Wilder was definitely not what I was expecting in the most amazing way. Lilly and Leo are lovable characters and have fantastic chemistry. Something Wilder is much more than a second chance romance (though the romance is fantastic). The book is full of mystery, adventure, suspense and TREASURE HUNTING! Something Wilder is the perfect unexpected escape and I loved it!
Thank you to Netgalley and Gallery Books for the ARC!

What an absolutely bananas adventure! I loved every minute of it. It was certainly different than any of the other Christina Lauren books I have read, but it was such a wild ride and impossible not to immensely enjoy. This is one of those books I would love to see made into a movie - it's so vivid, I could picture everything as it was happening. The riddles, the scavenger hunt, the shenanigans - all perfection!

This was another fun read by the Christina Lauren duo. Even though I love my beach reads and coastal settings, I loved the setting of this book. I’ve been thinking more and more about an out west trip and the description of the canyons made me want to go soon. However, I do not want to encounter treasure hunter/stealers or the treacherous conditions that Lily had to deal with on my trip. This was another father/daughter book with a friendship and a love story, too. It was a bit suspenseful but not scary and I loved how they wrapped it all up at the end.

Something Wilder is a great foray into mystery for the Christina Lauren writing partnership. The story builds very well and you root for the central relationship because there is a lot of chemistry between Lily and Leo. Sometimes it felt like the relationship fell to the backburner for the mystery, but overall it worked. The treasure hunt was pretty thoughtfully done and it was cool to see the writers expand.

Christina Lauren is such a great author! Definitely a book you need to add to your collection! 10/10

My favorite duo does it again! I have loved Christina Lauren books since the first one I read, I have never been disappointed with one of their books. If you love funny, witty, cute romantic stories, look no further than a Christina Lauren book.
CLo say "We wrote this book to be a fun, swoon-filled escape from the real world, not to serve as a guide to your own adventure. If you follow our route, you will die, lol." - and honestly there is no better description for this lough out loud worthy book!
LOVE LOVE LOVE - do yourself a favor and read it ASAP!

Loved this one by Christina Lauren. Was a quick, enjoyable read. I am always anxiously awaiting their next book. Although more spice plz

This book is great! Would definitely recommend. Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Nothing like I expected it to be!
Something Wilder is filled with adventure, mystery, murder, and romance.
I wish I could say that I liked it, but unfortunately, this book was just way too unbelievable to be likable (at least for me).
Lily Wilder runs an adventure and wilderness retreat in Utah, for anyone who wants to ride horseback and search for treasure. Leo Grady was Lily's first love, and though it didn't work out, they have never forgotten each other. When Leo shows up to take part in her retreat with a bunch of his friends, they are both shocked to see each other. Needless to say, they can't fight their feelings.
As Lily takes them on a treasure hunt, what appears to be just fun and games becomes something much more sinister. If only it wasn't totally over the top! My eyes could not stop rolling from that point on.
Sadly, nothing about this book worked for me. I didn't buy into Lily & Leo's relationship and thought the rest of the plot was just way too far-fetched. While I like the writing style and enjoy Christina Lauren's books, I wish they'd go back to writing witty, sarcastic rom-coms, which are my personal favorites.
This was a buddy read with Kaceey.
Thanks to Gallery books via NetGalley for the arc.

This was a super fun novel, filled with adventure and surprises + a second chance romance. I really enjoyed it!
I am however glad I waited to read this, this was not the typical Christina Lauren romance and I fear I would have been disappointed if I read it earlier.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Living in Arizona, I could really picture some of the landscaping discussed on this outdoor adventure. I enjoyed the ride this took, the romance, the escalation of problems between the friends. I had a great time reading this.
The only thing I got hung up on was the intimate moments and what time they were waking up in the desert while camping. In my experience, I've never been up after 9am when camping in the desert, but maybe they were really just that tired. In a canyon, especially, you lose a lot of daylight by about 3 pm since the sunlight hits the sides of the canyon sooner than you think. I found myself encouraging them to hustle or they were going to die out in the desert.

Here's a fun fact about me — more often than not, when it comes to some of my favorite authors, I don't even read a blurb before requesting/buying/beginning to read a book. I have this certain level of trust that I will enjoy almost everything they write so why waste my time on blurbs when I could be reading the book? It has, on occasion, bit me in the ass of course. But most of the time I end up enjoying a story with absolutely no preconceived notions of what it will be. That was the case with Something Wilder. Did I know I was reading a part action/part romance second chance story? I did not. Did I get sucked into it and enjoy the hell out of it? I did.
Second chance romance will forever be one of my favorite tropes. There are a lot of reasons why — some I'm totally unwilling to admit out loud — but the main one is the way the characters already know each other and the deep emotions and connection between them. I don't like a lot of angst in my books, but I do like a lot of feelings. I tend to find more feelings in second chance romance than in a lot of other tropes. But, I digress. This was a very well done second chance romance between two characters who are reunited — in a forced proximity situation (another fave!) — several years after one apparently ghosted the other. Oh, the drama! Add in the romantic suspense storylines with the treasure hunt and everything that went along with it and I was totally hooked.
I'm the furthest thing from outdoorsy — unless your definition of outdoorsy includes someone who likes to read on her balcony as long as it's not too hot, too humid, or too buggy — but I like reading about other people's adventures in the outdoors. It's fun to live vicariously as I did during Lily and Leo's adventures. And boy did they have me on the edge of my seat a few times! I loved how Lily and Leo found their way back to each other while dealing with the other situations in the book. I got all the warm and fuzzy feels, especially toward the end of the book when everything came together.
I read the bulk of this book on audio — I'm a notorious format-flipper when I'm really into a book — and I thought the narration was excellent. Patti Murin and Jon Root were both new-to-me narrators and they did a fantastic job giving voice to the characters. This was an exciting and heartwarming (at least at the end) story and their talents only added to my enjoyment.

Fabulous and romantic mystery! Lily and Leo are former lovers whose relationship ended suddenly 10 years ago. They accidentally meet at Lily’s southwest tour guide business. The legend of Lily’s father’s treasure hunting has been worldwide. And when some shady characters try to find her father’s map, Leo must help Lily and find the treasure first. I loved the mystery, the simmering romance and sexual tension for Leo & Lily. Awesome writing!! Will definitely recommend to my library and friends.

I don't think there is a Christina Lauren book I don't like. Something Wilder was a little different, almost a mystery thriller with an opposites attract, second chance love story intertwined. I finished it in 2 days because I was so invested in the characters and story. I loved how tough Lily and Nicole were and appreciated their friendship. There were also shocking moments in the story about friendships, who you can trust and who has your best interest at heart. Very well rounded read, of course, I mean, it's Christina Lauren! They are perfect at their craft!

This was another really sweet, heartwarming, fun romance from Christina Lauren! I loved the setting, the history between the characters, and the unfolding of their romance.
