My favorite duo does it again! I have loved Christina Lauren books since the first one I read, I have never been disappointed with one of their books. If you love funny, witty, cute romantic stories, look no further than a Christina Lauren book.

CLo say "We wrote this book to be a fun, swoon-filled escape from the real world, not to serve as a guide to your own adventure. If you follow our route, you will die, lol." - and honestly there is no better description for this lough out loud worthy book!

LOVE LOVE LOVE - do yourself a favor and read it ASAP!

Nothing like I expected it to be!

Something Wilder is filled with adventure, mystery, murder, and romance.

I wish I could say that I liked it, but unfortunately, this book was just way too unbelievable to be likable (at least for me).

Lily Wilder runs an adventure and wilderness retreat in Utah, for anyone who wants to ride horseback and search for treasure. Leo Grady was Lily's first love, and though it didn't work out, they have never forgotten each other. When Leo shows up to take part in her retreat with a bunch of his friends, they are both shocked to see each other. Needless to say, they can't fight their feelings.

As Lily takes them on a treasure hunt, what appears to be just fun and games becomes something much more sinister. If only it wasn't totally over the top! My eyes could not stop rolling from that point on.

Sadly, nothing about this book worked for me. I didn't buy into Lily & Leo's relationship and thought the rest of the plot was just way too far-fetched. While I like the writing style and enjoy Christina Lauren's books, I wish they'd go back to writing witty, sarcastic rom-coms, which are my personal favorites.

This was a buddy read with Kaceey.

Thanks to Gallery books via NetGalley for the arc.

This was a super fun novel, filled with adventure and surprises + a second chance romance. I really enjoyed it!
I am however glad I waited to read this, this was not the typical Christina Lauren romance and I fear I would have been disappointed if I read it earlier.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Living in Arizona, I could really picture some of the landscaping discussed on this outdoor adventure. I enjoyed the ride this took, the romance, the escalation of problems between the friends. I had a great time reading this.

The only thing I got hung up on was the intimate moments and what time they were waking up in the desert while camping. In my experience, I've never been up after 9am when camping in the desert, but maybe they were really just that tired. In a canyon, especially, you lose a lot of daylight by about 3 pm since the sunlight hits the sides of the canyon sooner than you think. I found myself encouraging them to hustle or they were going to die out in the desert.

Here's a fun fact about me — more often than not, when it comes to some of my favorite authors, I don't even read a blurb before requesting/buying/beginning to read a book. I have this certain level of trust that I will enjoy almost everything they write so why waste my time on blurbs when I could be reading the book? It has, on occasion, bit me in the ass of course. But most of the time I end up enjoying a story with absolutely no preconceived notions of what it will be. That was the case with Something Wilder. Did I know I was reading a part action/part romance second chance story? I did not. Did I get sucked into it and enjoy the hell out of it? I did.

Second chance romance will forever be one of my favorite tropes. There are a lot of reasons why — some I'm totally unwilling to admit out loud — but the main one is the way the characters already know each other and the deep emotions and connection between them. I don't like a lot of angst in my books, but I do like a lot of feelings. I tend to find more feelings in second chance romance than in a lot of other tropes. But, I digress. This was a very well done second chance romance between two characters who are reunited — in a forced proximity situation (another fave!) — several years after one apparently ghosted the other. Oh, the drama! Add in the romantic suspense storylines with the treasure hunt and everything that went along with it and I was totally hooked.

I'm the furthest thing from outdoorsy — unless your definition of outdoorsy includes someone who likes to read on her balcony as long as it's not too hot, too humid, or too buggy — but I like reading about other people's adventures in the outdoors. It's fun to live vicariously as I did during Lily and Leo's adventures. And boy did they have me on the edge of my seat a few times! I loved how Lily and Leo found their way back to each other while dealing with the other situations in the book. I got all the warm and fuzzy feels, especially toward the end of the book when everything came together.

I read the bulk of this book on audio — I'm a notorious format-flipper when I'm really into a book — and I thought the narration was excellent. Patti Murin and Jon Root were both new-to-me narrators and they did a fantastic job giving voice to the characters. This was an exciting and heartwarming (at least at the end) story and their talents only added to my enjoyment.

Fabulous and romantic mystery! Lily and Leo are former lovers whose relationship ended suddenly 10 years ago. They accidentally meet at Lily’s southwest tour guide business. The legend of Lily’s father’s treasure hunting has been worldwide. And when some shady characters try to find her father’s map, Leo must help Lily and find the treasure first. I loved the mystery, the simmering romance and sexual tension for Leo & Lily. Awesome writing!! Will definitely recommend to my library and friends.

I don't think there is a Christina Lauren book I don't like. Something Wilder was a little different, almost a mystery thriller with an opposites attract, second chance love story intertwined. I finished it in 2 days because I was so invested in the characters and story. I loved how tough Lily and Nicole were and appreciated their friendship. There were also shocking moments in the story about friendships, who you can trust and who has your best interest at heart. Very well rounded read, of course, I mean, it's Christina Lauren! They are perfect at their craft!

This book is so fun! A contemporary western romance with lots of adventure. I was hooked until the very last page. This book will delight all kinds of readers from romance to western. I loved that the authors took the time to right out the puzzles and clues and show how Lily and Leo solve them instead of excluding readers from that experience. Overall, this is a really well-written delight for all readers.

I enjoyed listening to this book, and thought the narrators did an excellent job bringing Lili and Leo to life. While I was able to predict a few things that happened, I was still completely engaged in the story and invested in these characters! One of my favorite things about the book was the way the setting became a character as well, and I could picture it immediately. Well done!

The two authors are great. Romance and humor will keep you intrigued! I found these authors via Friends and Fiction and have been interested in reading all of their books. Never a disappointment!

Lily is the daughter of famous treasure hunter Duke Wilder. She is poor and makes money by guiding people through Utah in a hunt for treasure that her dad said was buried out there. When Leo comes into the picture with a group of friends looking for the treasure, Lily instantly realizes he is the man who broke her heart years ago. Forced to spend time with him and his friends, she starts to feel things she forgot about. Thimgs go wrong when someone brings out a gun. Accidents happen and the group is forced to decide to go to the police or hide what happened and continue the search.
This was a really good book and I enjoyed reading it. It definitely had some parts I didn't expect from a Christina Lauren book which was new. I haven't read all of their books but this was probably my second favorite one of the ones I have read.
If you enjoyed their other books, you will like this one too.

Relationships are rarely simple and straightforward. They’re messy and complicated, with circumstances that sometimes get in the way. But in Something Wilder, the latest from romance-writing duo Christina Lauren, one couple gets a second chance to make their relationship work—only to have their circumstances make everything even more complicated...

I found this to be a very fast-paced, entertaining adventure. Not the same emotional romance I'm used to from this duo and I wish we would have gotten a bit more history and romance with Leo and Lily, but I enjoyed it still.

I did not love this book. It took me forever to get through. The storyline was just not entertaining to me and was very far fetched. I would however, love a reprise of Leo and Lily! Their specific storyline was adorable! Thank you to netgalley.com for an ARC of this book in trade for my honest review.

Sometimes you just need a little adventure and romance in your life and boy did Christina Lauren deliver that with Something Wilder!

I'm not typically drawn to stories about the wild west or treasure hunting, but this was so much more and was executed really well. The setting was magically described and I loved that Nicole and Lily were two incredibly strong, independent women leading groups through the treacherous desert.

I also thought the love story was really cleverly done. It's not too often that I read the past lovers trope in this context. I liked the way Leo and Lily's past and present unfolded and the immediate sparks and connection felt more authentic because they had so much history.

There was action, drama, and unique characters galore in this one! While not all entirely believable, it definitely made for a great and entertaining read.

I listened to this novel on audio and felt that the two narrators - Patti Murin and Jon Root - did exceptional. They were engaging, exciting, and really helped me transport myself into the story.

Thank you to Gallery and NetGalley for a copy of this novel.
