Going into this book, I was aware that it was a departure from both the romance genre and Christina Lauren's usual work, but I didn't expect it to be this adventurous. At around the 80-page mark, there is a major tonal and plot twist that I was not expecting. Instead of being ripped out of the story, I went along for the ride and it was pretty enjoyable. The romance in it was not as fleshed out or believable for me, but I still wanted to know what happened next. Overall, this is just a middle of the road romance for me, but I do want to give it props for not totally losing me when the action and adventure took over.

Christina Lauren does it again with such a unique take on a romcom. There are so many interesting twists and turns and the character development is superb

This took me a little bit to get into, but once I got further in I was hooked. I love to try and figure out “whodunnit” and this one kept me on my toes and guessing. Of course I love a little added romance and finding true love so this was a good mix. If you’re a fan of Yellowstone I would suggest picking this up and giving it a try. The “Wild West” location and bad ass MC reminded me of this show!

I will read anything that the ladies of Christina Lauren put out. I absolutely loved the adventure, mystery and murder part mixed in with the romance. A perfect summer read.

I was not a fan of this book. It moved too slow and dragged a lot. I'm surprised I read it all the way through, but I was curious as to what was going to happen and was hoping the authors could turn it around. I also wanted the villains to receive consequences...
I liked the element of danger, even though it seemed like the characters would have died from all that in real life. Still, it was the only thing spicing up the book. I also liked the mystery aspect but the codebreaking was so confusing. I think this is the first story of theirs that had actual villains, so that was interesting too.
The sex scenes couldn't even revive this story, as I felt ambivalent toward the couple getting back together in the first place. (I usually love Christina Lauren's sex scenes.) And Lily just came off as annoying to me. It was never explained why Nicole called Lily "Dub." It also was only subtly implied that Leo was part Japanese, but I felt like that came in later on. I would have rather had Nicole as the main character, as she seemed more likable than Lily and I loved her sass.
If you like adventure stories, this might be more up your alley. It just wasn't my thing. However, I liked [the movie] The Lost City, so there's that. I've enjoyed Christina Lauren's other books, so this is hopefully just a one-off.

This book is SO FUN! The perfect summer read, with some romance, adventure, and mystery! A second-chance romance set during Wild West treasure hunt is a plot I have not read before, and it immediately held my interest. Yes, the plot gets a bit silly at times, but I absolutely loved following along.

Something Wilder starts off as an excellent read, pulling me in from the beginning. Following Lily Wilder, daughter of the famous treasure hunter Duke Wilder, readers head out on a treasure adventure that just isn’t super believable. Lily leads a group of men (one who ends up being her long lost love) on a pretend treasure hunt that turns out to be a real treausre hunt. While the story is fun, it just wasn’t super believable.

I think this may be my favorite Christina Lauren book to date.
They deliver on the love story as per usual, but threw in a thrilling adventure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Lily and Leo have a classic misunderstanding come between them only to have a treasure hunt bring them together years later. Everything I could want in a book and more! Love, love, loved this until the last page.

Something Wilder is very different from the rest of CLo’s usual work, but they really knocked their adventure romance debut out of the park. A second chance romance with more than a hint of danger, this book appeals to fans of Speed, The Lost City, and The Mummy (but without the fantasy elements).
Lily and Leo are two people pining for one another despite miscommunications and tragedies that kept them apart after one magical summer together.
Meeting up years later, they are forced together on a team building camping trip that Lily is leading and almost from the start, the trip goes horribly and hilariously awry. Never have I been so excited for the impending doom of a secondary character…but that doom couldn’t happen to a better (terrible) person. From there, the narrative is off to the races for a rollicking and suspenseful adventure that will force Lily and Leo to work together and to see if the spark between them can turn into something…wilder. (Sorry, couldn’t help myself.)

Second chance love and a treasure hunt?! Who can say no to that! Add the fact that it is a @christinalauren book?! This makes it a must read for me!
Leo and Lily were a force to be reckoned with until Leo heads home to New York and never returns leaving Lily to work at her father’s ranch alone. Lily’s father was a treasure hunter and fascinated with Butch Cassidy. Following the sale of the ranch and the death of her father, Lily finds herself leading tour groups in Utah searching for the lost treasure of Cassidy’s bank robberies.
Leo finds himself on a guy’s trip that happens to be Lily’s tour. This is a shock to them Leo and Lily. What also is a shock is the trouble that arrived with Leo’s group. I’m not sure how many times I said, “I didn’t see that coming!” out loud.
This is not your typical Christina Lauren romance, but it doesn’t disappoint!

Thank you to @netgalley @gallerybooks for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Also, thank you to @thechicklitbookclub for arranging the buddy ready and zoom call with the author!

This was definitely a wild ride complete with hidden treasure, puzzles, and lots of near death experiences. Fun and unexpected, but never entirely grabbed me like CL books usually do.

My heart is still swooning over this book and the relationship between Leo and Lily.
This story gives you all of the thrilling old western, treasure hunting, adventure vibes with a side of romance that will leave you so satisfied.
Lily Wilder, gives tours of the Utah mountains and canyons, with her expert knowledge from her father Duke for traveling these lands and hunting for long lost cowboy treasure that Butch Cassidy hid so many years before.
Everyone thought these legends couldn’t be real, except for a handful of loyal followers, bound and determined to find the buried treasure worth millions.
On Lily’s most recent tour, a group of men show up, with one quiet man named Leo. Lily’s long lost love of her life.
This second chance love, mixed in with a twisty thriller, western cowboy adventure really had me loving this!

I enjoyed this second chance at love romance. Especially since it had a hint of mystery and kept me very intrigued. A very charming love story between a country girl and a city boy. It is the perfect read for summer and I definitely recommend!

I'm a sucker for a treasure hunt adventure, and this one was great! A sassy cowgirl finds herself in an Indiana Jones type adventure with the guy-that-got-away; it's so fun! The steamy romance factor is well-done and funny, the main and secondary characters have lots of personality and I loved them, and you can taste the grit of the desert in your teeth.
Well done, Christina Lauren! Another fantastic book!

Something Wilder follows Lily Wilder's larger-than-life love story after she and her ex Leo accidentally reconnect. My favorite part about this book is that it's not only a sweet rom-com but an adventure. I've never read a rom-com like this and to be quite honest, I was pretty hesitant to start it. But Christina Lauren have outdone themselves yet again. I loved this book!

This was definitely different than what I have read in the past from Christina Lauren, but it was still good. It was hard to follow at times, perhaps a map would have been helpful. The story kept me interested though. I would like to hear more about Nic and Walt!

This is not one of my favorite Christina Lauren books. I don't know why but the story line didn't keep me very interested in the outcome.

Something Wilder is a second chance romance between a country girl and a city boy who couldn't be more different. Lily grew up on a ranch and has dreams to own a ranch of her own. Leo grew up in NYC, a math and algorithms whiz, who strives for hard work and stability for his family.
The two met a decade before the book took place on Lily's uncle's farm — though it's unclear why Leo spent a summer there in the first place. They fell in love and, when summer came to a close, Leo decided he would stay by her side.
Spoiler alert: life happened and they separated. Ten years later the pair meets on a trip supposed to be filled with a week of pretending to be a cowboy while treasure hunting. Much goes wrong but along the way they fall in love all over.
The book was just fine. I felt like it was slow and, despite all the happened, not particularly engaging or romantic. There were some interesting plot twists and I liked that this book felt like a quiet reflection on who we are and who we turn out to be. But while I loved the Soulmate Equation but this one left me a little worse for wear.

This book was... rough. Honestly wasn't super hooked in the beginning and about 25% in if I remember correctly something huge happens that honestly doesn't even seem realistic. I won't spoil it but I strongly feel the build up to this event could've been written a lot better. I also felt like the riddles and clues and stuff were pretty advanced for a book like this and some of the parts just got dragged out a lot. I appreciated the effort and the overall storyline but this one wasn't a favorite.

This book was such a surprise! I expected a second chance romance but was very happy to discover that Something Wilder is a thriller and a mystery, too. The twist pulled me in right away and I was unable to put the book down until the very end.
