I love Shana Merchant! This book was completely necessary in learning more about Bram’s history. I love how Wegert weaves in another murder investigation which makes the reader wonder if it’s Bram or someone else in the community. My only complaint was it was slow at the beginning.

I love this series by Tessa Wegert, such fun thrillers. This book had it all and I enjoyed all the twists and turns you expect in a great thriller. Shana is such an intriguing character. Thank you Netgalley for letting me read and review this book.. Recommend it for thriller lovers.

DEAD WIND is the third book in the Shana Merchant series and sees a new story laced with the legacy of books 1 and 2.

In this book, a body is found under a wind turbine on Wolfe Island and the death sends a vibration of turmoil and angst through the local community. Shana and her partner Tim hunt down the killer against the grain of politicians and activists who are keeping cards close to their chests. It seem like an impossible feat.

Throughout the investigation Shana has a feeling that the murderer might be someone she knows very well - a serial killer called Blake Bram who we have met before in book 1 and 2. To throw yet another spanner in the works, Shana’s family-member hires a private investigator to hunt down Blake but this could jeopardise the plan that Shana has devised to get Blake and more importantly, could this put them all in danger?

Wegert has crafted a fab series flexing the art of character development and chilling atmospheres in thrillers. This series gets better and better and I can’t wait to read the forth: The Kind to Kill, which I think was released in December 2022.

I like mysteries and this was a good one. There are several mysteries that overlap plus some old relationships too. A small tourist town should be calm on the off season. But a dead body is found at the base of a wind turbine. And the turbine is in Canada. Turns out Shay and Tim work just across in America and the dead body is from their town. As they search for the clues there are more questions than answers. Shay's cousin is heavily in the frame for committing the murder. But did he? A good story from beginning to end.

Again, another series you cannot go wrong with. Tessa Wegert writes a beautiful Crime Fiction, and she needs to keep going

I am so thankful I got to spend more time with Shana Merchant, Senior Investigator. This is hands down my favorite of the series so far. The way the story evolved worked so well while keeping in theme with long term fans!

Wegert is the queen of creating the creepiest atmospheres. In Dead Wind, we have another slow start but by halfway through- all bets are off and things go bonkers and I am so here for it.

I oddly loved the backstory of Dead Wind’s fatal victim, Hope Oberon. Her family’s story is tragic but also so entertaining. While it feels strange to type that, I am not sure how else to explain it all!

Shana and Tim together was a refreshing change. While I adore these books they do feel so heavy so their new dynamic was needed and a nice change of pace.

For my lovers of a smart procedural thriller, this series is absolutely it! I cannot wait to read the 4th in the series, The Kind to Kill which comes out in December!

It’s rare that I will read a series one book after another. But this series is one I just don’t want to put down.

The ending to Dead Wind, book 3, was almost shocking and not at all what I was expecting.
But it was well worth the wait.

I can’t wait to read what’s next by Tessa Wegert.

I enjoyed this final installment of the Shana Merchant series. If you haven’t read Death in the Family or Dead Season you should start there, because you definitely need those for the backstory.

If you’ve been following along for the whole series, this book is going to be your favorite. We FINALLY get answers to all the questions we had at the end of the first two books. Shana and Tim finally get together, and everything is right with the world!

I enjoyed this series the whole way through and definitely recommend it. Now that it’s wrapped up, I’m excited to see what Tessa Wegert writes next!

Dead Wind by Tessa Weber’s

Senior investor, Shana Merchant, must dredge up dark secrets and old grudges if she is to solve the murder of a prominent local citizen in the Thousand, Island community she calls home.

Excellent book. Includes thrills,twists, and turns throughout. Couldn’t put it down. Character base was good.I recommend this book.

It was fine. Personally, I’m not into romantic entanglements between partner detectives (feels like a conflict of interest and also a huge distraction from the creepy killers we’re actually after). Also everyone’s preconceived notions and assumptions led the story to spin around in circles for long stretches of time.

The ending also just felt… messy. Messy in a way that didn’t fit with the overall vibe and didn’t feel like a victory.

I did enjoy the previous two books quite a bit, and I’ll probably read more Weggert books in the future, but this didn’t feel like the conclusion that Shana Merchant’s story deserved.

Love this series! Tessa Wegert does such an amazing job crafting great characters, upping the suspense, and keeping us guessing. Can't wait for Book #4!!

Shana Merchant is back and must delve back into her dark memories in order to solve a murder. Shana escaped from the serial killer months before but is he now following her again?

Although I hadn't read any of the previous books in the series I was really intrigued by the plot and wasn't disappointed. I would definitely recommend reading the series in order (which is what I will be going to do now).

Senior Investigator Shana Merchant is back in the third book of the Shana Merchant series with Dead Wind by Tessa Wegert .

This book continues with the atmospheric psychological thriller police procedural content that I have loved from the beginning of the series. Shana is involved in yet another case that she may or may not have personal ties to.
I enjoy the action, the suspense, the locked room mystery inside a mystery and Shana’s growth over these three books.
This is one of my most favorite series that I highly recommend.

As usual, when starting a book in the middle of a series, I'm always wary. Oftentimes though, you can pick a book up that's part of a series and feel like you haven't missed a beat.
This? I was definitely missing quite a bit. Should I read the earlier series? Um..?
For me that would be a resounding no.
I think it's just an issue of me not quite giving a shit about a series. I'm old, and I have my own authors to read. I only add newbies if I'm loving the characters. I'll pass on this.

5 stars!! This series never disappoints!

If you’ve been following me for a few years, you know that this series has been a favorite of mine! Each subsequent book has been as good as the last and I can always count on a 5 star read and it makes me happy because Tessa is one of the nicest people. It’s nice for good people to achieve success and her books have been completely embraced by the bookstagram community (as they should)!

What I love the most about this series (besides it’s dependability) is that there is no annoying re-hashing of old plot points. She sprinkles cookie crumb reminders and then moves on to the new plot. She also amazingly makes it easy to just pick up without having read the others - which, for someone like me who is super long winded (no pun here 🤣), I have no idea how she reviews things from previous books so concisely - that’s a talent all it’s own in my opinion. I also love how much her main character Shana has progressed and grown in each book. Her character development is flawless and I seriously had chills at certain points in this book. I read a lot of it on the elliptical and I have documented proof of my heart rate rising (and I don’t think it was all exercise if you get my point!).

There’s so much to love here, it’s a great mystery, with great characters, a part of the country that doesn’t get written about ad nauseam AND you’re supporting a really nice and genuine person. It’s a WIN WIN for all of us 👏🏻👏🏻So if you’re looking for a new series or haven’t picked this up, but you have a book mountain on the floor (like me 😘😉), be sure to pick this out of the pile sooner rather than later!

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series so i was excited to continue on and find out how it concluded. I was excited to learn more about Bram but he was just glossed over i felt like. This is a slower paced book that i think was meant to tie up loose ends. I think there could have been more suspense to it. And it ended too quickly. I was a bit disappointed in this one.

I have a love hate relationship with this series. I loved the first book. It was dark, it was mysterious. It was plain good. And then I was bored with the second.

This particular story, 3rd in a series, couldn't stand on its own. You kind of need to read them in order to understand the characters and why the things that happen here do.

I was partially bored with the investigation, the whole police procedural part. Back and forth with the interviews, and nothing exciting happening in between. Was it done well? Maybe in the procedural way. Not sure if an actual detective would get so much levy with trying to catch the serial killer as Shana gets here, but it was done in the "last 48 hours" style. Lots of interviews, lots of leg work. But the actual solving seemed to kind of fall into the detectives laps.

That said, I did enjoy the serial killer part. How he was connected to Shana from the beginning, his mouse and cat games, and how it all ended. Nothing too sinister, just some stalkery obsessions.

Overall it was an OK series. Would recommend to those that are interested in police procedurals.

I won't lie - I was nervous to start Dead Wind because it had been so long since I read The Dead Season. But I was so happy to find out that Wegert gave us enough refreshers along the way to the point that I didn't feel lost.

I immediately felt like I was at home reading this book. I love the setting of A-Bay and Wolfe Island. The foggy, small-town setting gave it such a delicious claustrophobic feeling. Coupled with the small town drama and lurking threat of Blake Bram, Dead Wind delivered everything I was looking for.

I wouId love to see this series continue because I absolutely love Shana. Her growth in this book alone was astounding. Thinking of where she started in Death of the Family, her arc is just incredible.

I'm a sucker for insight into detective work and was happy to see so much detail in the process. It made it seem like a real life story. But that doesn't mean it was without an entertainment factor. The whodunnit aspect resulted into a layered story of reveals that shows just how little you really know someone.

The ending is something I'm still processing. Logically, and for the integrity of the story, it works. And for that I like it. But part of me wanted something bigger and dramatic. But because I can't pinpoint exactly what that would look like, I can't fault the story because everything fell into place in a way that still felt like this could really happen.

Dead Wind is the third installment of the Shana Merchant series. We follow Shana and her partner Tim as they investigate the murder of Hope Oberon, a disgraced local politician. There are several red herrings, some of which seemingly point to Bram, Shana’s serial killer cousin. Could he be tied to this murder, too? I appreciate that the story wrapped up neatly, but it was slower paced than the first two books.

This is the first book i read in this series and i think I discovered a new series I'm going to read.
This is a gripping story full of twists, it kept me guessing and on the edge till the end.
I liked the characters and the storytelling.
Highly recommended.
