I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

A nice, easy read. The plot felt a little rushed. Thanks for the review copy. I enjoy mother daughter books.

Summer Island looks like a light and fluffy read, but there is some real substance to this novel. Phoebe loses her job, her fiancé and her future home all in one day. She calls her mother to commiserate and finds out her father is leaving her mom after 35 years of marriage. They both flee to Summer Island, where Grandma Alice still lives in New England.

Great Aunt Vera stops while Ruth and Phoebe are visiting. Vera brings a lot of energy and encourages everyone to get out and enjoy themselves. This means Phoebe is talking to the former nerdy neighbor’s son who is all grown up now. Ty is home for awhile helping his aging father for the summer. They reunite has friends who aren’t in the place they thought they would be and eventually get closer.

Phoebe is a journalist who still has passion for her job after the newspaper she worked at is closed down. She remembers how much she loved sharing other’s stories when she meets a local man who is refurbishing old cars into homes for homeless veterans.

This is my first @shelleynoblebook but I’m also reading the Tiffany Girls soon for a book tour and I’m very excited for that one! I really enjoyed Shelley’s writing and her passion for her characters shows. They each have depth and genuine heart to them.

Thank you to @avonbooks for my gifted copy.

This had all the ingredients for a story I would enjoy but it felt like the plot was lacking and I found myself having to push through it and all the endings predictable.

Interesting read. Thought it was going to give me like Gilmore girl vibes with the multi generational woman.
. It sadly didn't. Wasn't a romance book. The storyline was kind of all over the place for me.

I enjoyed this book, I hated that I waited so long to read and review.
Phoebe loses her job, right off the bat.
She plans on going home but realizes her mom is also going through some loss as well.
They make the plan to go to Grandma Alice’s beach house
The beach house has been in the family for years, and they’ve gone there for many a summer.
The neighbors and town stays the same, with little to no change.
When the next door neighbor’s wife dies, Lars becomes a shut in. His 3 boys decide one of them will come stay with him until he can get back on his feet – enter Ty.
Ty and Phoebe are forced to spend some time together and well they’re young and find themselves in love and it’s beautiful.
Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to read and review this title.

This felt like a typical summer romance read! Girl going through a crisis, heads off to a far off town, falls for the troubled guy. I did like the difference that her mom was also going through something similar so they were "going through it" together.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. To be fair, this was a DNF for me. I rarely DNF a book, but I really struggled to get into this one. Maybe I’ll try it again once my TBR is cleared, but it honestly felt like homework to read.

Summer Island is the beach read you need to take on your next vacation.

Ruth and her daughter Phoebe cannot seem to catch a break. They return to their New England house on Summer Island where Ruth’s mother Alice calls home. When even their safe place fails to feel familiar, they are faced with a choice: change or stay the same?

I stopped and started this book several times and just couldn’t get into. It was marketed as a romance, which I think is misleading - more of a woman’s fiction, which is fine, just not a true romance (but has romantic elements). I’ve given up at about the 50% mark

I desperately wanted to like this book. I was drawn to the story line of three generations of women in a family working through loss and trying to find a new normal as they all live together in a place that was dear to each of them. The pace was incredibly slow and I wanted to feel more from Phoebe, especially after her entire world implodes. I wish I was able to connect with the characters and the story but I couldn't get there. This wasn't the book for me, but I wish it great success!

Thank you NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC for my honest opinions.

I am going to keep this brief. I really tried to read this book multiple times. But I had to keep stopping when my mind kept drifting away. Whenever I return to it, I just feel bored reading it. And I feel so bad about it. I thought I would enjoy reading this book because I love women's fiction reads. It’s just that I could not get through it on day one. It took me multiple times to finish this book. I just did not like the slow-paced nature of the book. It made the book longer than it was supposed to be.

I wish I had enjoyed this book more. I wasn't as much of a fan as I thought I would be. The mother daughter trip seems overdone in books. I loved the descriptions in the books and the banter. Overall it was a fine book.

I love multi-generational stories usually. This one I didn’t seem to vibe with and it felt long at times and the pace was just a bit slower than I’d prefer

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review

A sweet multi-generational story. It was a bit of a slow start, but picked up. Phoebe and her mother are both in major transition having been blindsided by the men they loved and thought they would be with forever. Both are struggling to find a new normal and kind of want to wallow. Enter Great Aunt Vera and their quiet time is over. She doesn’t suffer fools and drags them out of their own “stuff”. its a good beach read, a little slow to start, but picks up steam and finishes with everyone finding their way again.

DNFed this book... It was not really giving to me and I was waiting for the plot to become better but it wasn;t...

I really hoped to enjoy this book, I loved the concept of a multi-generational story. Sadly, this was a miss for me. It was difficult to stay engaged in the story, never fully realizing if it was women's fiction or romance. This follows a pretty classic theme of a women’s fiction beach read: small town, a divorce, a career crisis, some lies and mothers & daughters.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book was very slow in the beginning, and it took me a long time to get into it. But I did eventually ending up liking it. I didn't love it, but it was still enjoyable.

This book is one that shows three different generations of women that are going through life changes. It’s about divorce, job loss, and death. Unfortunately it did fall a little short for me as it was very slow paced. I felt like the storyline had a lot of potential, but it did not reach those standards unfortunately. I really struggled connecting with any of the characters and I felt like it was pretty predictable. I just don’t think this was the book for me.
