This graphic novel was hilarious and well-drawn, definitely worth the money and the hype, and I hope will be successful!

Thank you for approving me for this title! However, I unfortunately was unable to download/read this book prior to it being archived on Netgalley. I hope to read and review this book on my own soon, and hope to read other books from this author and publisher. Thanks again!

I was a bit disappointed as this copy only had one of the three stories within it. Therefore, I’m not sure I can review the book as a whole. It’s a very heavy topic, of course, but a very poignant read.

This was a fantastic premise, and has been done successfully with Primo Levi's "Night". But I think this attempt fell short. The stories and art were fantastic but the set-up was cumbersome - I wish it has the history prior to the account and not at the end together. I think it would have been more impactful to read the history and then have the graphic retelling.

This is an incredible graphic novel that helps readers learn about individual Holocaust stories. I really enjoyed the format and the individual story I read. While I didn't get to read all three stories, I imagine they are all incredible.

There was a problem with my ecopy which expired before the time limit shown. I was unable to open it in time to read it all the way through. I cannot however provide a full length review for the book.
The topic was interesting and the brief look I had showed good illustrations. The topic was an interesting one, one of the reasons I wanted to read it in the first place.

This ARC only includes one of the three stories so I may change my vote if we can get ahold of the full book. The story in this section is quite heartbreaking. The intercutting between the narrator’s past and present really hypes up the emotions of the story and shows how her past traumatic experiences still impact her. The art is quite beautiful, and the shifts in style between the present scenes and her memories work really well.

Very emotional. It was beautiful and I cannot wait to read the other two stories in this collection. The art style and structure really impacted me.

Though only a small sliver of a larger book, if this is an indication of what the rest of the stories were like, it would be incredibly moving indeed. Both the language of the story and the illustration bring it into heart wrenching detail.

This is a brilliant graphic novel based on real stories of holocaust survivors. The water colour art makes it even more beautiful. I'm really thankful for this arc. Will recommend this book to everyone.

A dark and haunting non-fiction graphic novella about the Holocaust. This particular installment tells the story of Emmie Arbel, who was deported to the Westerbork, Ravensbrück, and Bergen-Belsen camps when she was 5 years ago. Despite being a quick read of less than 40 pages, it's a heartwrenching tale about the horrors of war and its long-lasting effects. The watercolour art style added a layer of bleakness to an already sombre story.

Holocaust narratives are not stories I typically pick up in general. The graphic novel format I think was a smart choice for these stories. I think this is going to open up the content to a wider range of ages.

**I received an eARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher!

Both gentle and brutal. The storytelling feels honest. It's down-to-earth, and yet deeply profound.
I enjoyed the art style and the author's voice.
The story of the survivor is told with respect. We not only get to hear and see her terrific experience, but also get to view her personality and her life afterward. We get to see snippets of how the experience has affected her throughout her life for better and for worse, and how certain traumas are too deep to expunge.

The book is a really interesting tale about survival and how horrors are seen from the eyes of child. The women collecting the story as a character is an add. It help to see how it is difficult to speak about trauma, that it takes time to gain trust. The taken into PTSD is interesting and includes glimpses of how the family must also deal with the proper way to not trigger things by mistake. A really interesting book from a psychological perspective,
Also the art is beautiful.
Thanks NetGalley

"As a child, you learn to look at it and live with it."

Netgalley provided the first of the three stories that comprise this book for early readers, and if it is anything to judge by, this is a remarkable and necessary book. The first story is incredibly moving, and the art ably portrays the horrors of life for children in Nazi concentration camps, as well as how its lingering memory continues to shape the lives of survivors.

I could only access one of the three stories, "If I live," but immensely enjoyed it.
I think this is a story that just about anyone can read (and should really), where we see live accounts of living during and in the holocaust. It was devastating and contrasted with episodes situated in the modern-day as we see the personal history unfold.

The art style presented as a mixed medium, a perfect blend of cool tones that created haunting imagery that resonated with the theme and topic of discussion; during sections where the holocaust came into focus, I was awed by the artistry. It was haunting.

I will get my hands on the entire book because I don't want to miss out on the other stories. Thank you for the eARC in exchange for an honest review, Netgalley and The University of Toronto Press.

This may have been one out of three stories but this one story is really powerful. The story of one survivor and how her life was during the holocaust and after the holocaust is both powerful, mobi and heartbreaking I recommend reading this.

A graphic representation of a Holocaust survivor which I found well illustrated and depicted perfectly from the way its been told. From the title itself; Three stories of Child survivors of the Holocaust, you already have an idea about the story, however, though its a graphic narrative, the overall representation of the story embodies the emotional turmoil and determination to survive despite the hardships.

Well thought. Highly recommended.

4.1/5 stars

This is such a beautiful, haunting book. The illustrations pull most of the weight of the storytelling; the text is sparing but punchy.

This is a very moving excerpt of what seems to be an amazing graphic novel/memoir. The art is amazing! So beautiful and it really evokes an emotional response. The story that I received was very touching and I felt all the pain, anxiety and survivors remorse on each page.

I am definitely going to be picking up the book when it is released. Important stories with beautiful artwork belong on my bookshelf.
