I loved the book from page 1. Sarah never knows who she can trust, from one minute to the next. By moving to another town, she was hoping that she wouldn't have to be on edge and watching her back 100% of the time.

This one is filled with twists that you wouldn't expect, as well as surprises throughout. I liked the way the author brought us into the family and kept us on our toes.

It's a great read and another well executed book by this author.

I was a little nervous after reading the description that this would be another overdone "bad-nanny" storyline, but this couldn't be farther from the truth. This was refreshing and fast paced throughout. The pacing and multiple POVs really held my attention and made me want to find out what was going to happen next. The hidden cameras added a lot of drama and made me wonder if we had an unreliable narrator on our hands...or possibly more than one? I found the ending to be shocking and looking back maybe I should have seen some of the clues but I was so distracted by the drama that I didn't see it coming.

I struggled to get into this story, the driving force behind the character's actions didn't resonate with me which made it hard to get into.

I really liked the way this book was written and how is skipped back and forth between the two main women’s point of views. It kept it interesting and engaging especially since one was mainly in the present tense and the other the past. Some of the twists towards the end I never saw coming but a few I cued in on early. I will definitely be checking out other books by this author and if you’re into domestic thrillers, I would totally recommend!

Thank you to Netgalley, Simon & Schuster Canada, and Samantha Bailey for an advance copy of Watch Out for Her in exchange for an honest review. This was a quick, popcorn thriller that I devoured in a couple of sittings. I was completely entranced by our main character and her babysitter and how their relationship ebbed and flowed. I felt like this story had alot of sub plots but they all flowed together to make for an enjoyable read. I love how this one was told in two POVs and in the past and present. The twist was not what I expected and thats always so refreshing in a thriller. This one is out now and would be a good book for someone who is wanting to move into the thriller genre slowly.

I loved "Watch Out for Her," a who-can-you-trust psychological thriller. Photographer Sarah hires Holly to babysit her son Jacob; at first, all is well. Holly gets the mother figure she’s always wanted, and Jacob loves his time with Holly. But when Sarah’s insecurities lead her to spy on Holly via camera, she sees something she can’t unsee. The family packs up and moves across the country, only to find hidden cameras in their home. Has the watcher become the watch-ee? This book is full of twists and turns; I could never have guessed the ending!

Holly and Sarah meet when it is suggested that Holly sit for the Goldman's 6-year-old son Jacob during the summer vacation months, giving Sarah time to pursue her love of photography. Holly, who never knew her mother, finds little Jake endearing and fully embraces the Goldman family so at first it seems like the perfect set-up for all. But Sarah suffers from low self-esteem and is a bit suspicious, neurotic, maybe even paranoid, so things soon start to unravel.

The story is divided in Before and After chapters with Holly telling what happened 'Before' in Vancouver and Sarah telling what happened 'After' when they have moved to Toronto for a fresh start. I found both women extremely likable, even with all their flaws. I liked how the author really got into their heads by the way she told the story; that worked well. A nicely-done twist creates an exciting ending to this dramatic psychological thriller.

I received an arc of this novel from the author and publisher via NetGalley. The book published in April but unfortunately my reading schedule was so full at the time that it fell through the cracks. I apologize for the delay. My review is voluntary and the opinions expressed are my own.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of Watch Out for Her by Samantha M. Bailey.

Sarah can finally get a fresh start with this new move. Now that they are finally far away from her six year old son's nanny Holly, maybe everything can go back to normal. But losing Holly has come at a cost. Her son is devastated to lose his one of his favorite people, and Sarah can't help but think that Holly is still somehow invading their lives. But why would Holly do that, and what lead to this sudden flee anyway?

Eh, this book had me icked out the majority of the time. Too much unhealthy obsession, not near enough communication. It was a bit too circular, both of the women started to blend into each other after a while, and the ending was pretty lackluster.

Watch Out For Her is a thriller that follows a mother named Sarah as her family moves across the country trying to escape the past. As Sarah and her family settle into their new home, Sarah is haunted by the past she is desperate to escape, a past where she had a hired a young woman to help her watch her son. A past where Sarah discovered things that she shouldn’t have by looking too close to things.

Watch Out For Her was a domestic psychological thriller, told in dual timelines (before/after) and focused on a family and their babysitter, and in particular the relationship between the sitter and Sarah, the mom. This novel was a didn’t quite hit the mark … Sarah seemed overly controlling and whiney and some of the situations were just odd. There was a lot of internal reflection that slowed the pace of the novel. The ending did create a few stressful moments, but overall it wasn’t quite as fast-paced as I had hoped.

I have heard good things about this author and will definitely plan to check out her other work. I love to support Canadian authors as there is so much talent across this country.

Thank you to @netgalley and this Canadian author for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book started out on a promising note, but the slow burn was so slow that when the big reveals started happening it felt more like a "so what?" moment rather than an "aha." After all the secrets that are kept and the twists and turns that were engineered, I was definitely expecting a bigger payoff. Somewhere about 2/3 of the way through, I suspected who was spying on Sarah and her family, and when that was confirmed it was kind of a letdown. Not because I'd guessed the answer; because it didn't feel earned. What started out with Holly as an essential character ended up being more about Sarah and others who didn't start out as important to the narrative.

I was a little disappointed with this one.

2022: Book One Hundred and Thirteen 💛 Watch Out for Her by Samantha M. Bailey (2.5 stars)

Sadly, this thriller left me disappointed too and I just wanted more from the story. I wasn't left with another surprises and the 'twists' felt very predictable but it was still a quick page-turner

This book was everything I wanted it to be. It had me turned pages without even realizing. It was so good!

Watch Out for Her had me hooked right from the beginning. Starting over is never easy, but for the Goldmans, it seems like it was necessary. Getting away from their old life and their old nanny, Holly, who became a little too attached to the family. The clean break seemed like just the right move to allow their family to heal. Unfortunately, it seems like the past is going to be harder to escape and almost immediately, it is as if Holly has followed the Goldmans to their new life.

This novel had me hooked from the beginning. I thought it was a new, creepy premise and was eager to find out what was going to happen or how it would all play out. I enjoyed the back and forth timelines which brought the past and the present together in a way that kept my interest piqued.

This was the first Samantha M. Bailey novel I had read, and I look forward to diving into more by her.

The storyline was somewhat intriguing but the tone didn't feel suspenseful until the very end. The book alternates between present in Sarah's POV to the past following Holly in third person. The twist was one that I didn't see coming but it felt VERY out of character and I found it offputting.

Wow, what an awesome book! This was my first Samantha M. Bailey book, but it will not be my last. This book kept me reading past my bedtime. It was too good to put down-just one more chapter tonight kind of book. The twists and turns bring Holly from the villain to the victim. Daniel and Sarah's relationship was tenuous, and their secrets added to their troubles. Alexis was a troubled soul with a dark side. Early on in the book, I didn't like Holly and pitied Alexis, but boy did that turn about with the ending! I will definitely be recommending this book to others and will be on the lookout for Bailey's next book.

Kudos to a Canadian Author! 🇨🇦 I really enjoyed Samantha Bailey's writing style. She kept me guessing throughout.

This has been sitting on my NetGalley shelf for a little while. When I initially picked it up I did not know this was a Canadian author and a Canadian setting. What a delightful surprise that was! The story first starts out in Vancouver, British Columbia and eventually changes to Toronto, Ontario. I loved that I could fully envision the Toronto setting.

This is a nicely developed story about a family of three. Daniel and Sarah are married and have a young son named Jacob. They hire a new babysitter for Jacob. Holly, is a 22 year old daughter of a wealthy pharmaceutical CEO. Holly loves her new job but she is hiding secrets. She is not the only one either. Daniel and Sarah's marriage is not all what it seems. Soon the best of these secrets will overtake them all. I could see some of the developments coming but some I did not fully guess until much later.

I started out reading this one and then my Audio became available at the library so I started to listen as I read along in the book. I must say the two narrators- Hillary Huber and Joy Osmanski did a fantastic job! I must give a little extra praise to Hillary Huber who did a fantastic job as Sarah Goldman. She is quickly becoming one of my favourite narrators!

I was really captivated for 60% of the story but it waned a bit towards the end of the middle. The ending just tidied up a little too neatly. Still a very promising writer. This one is in-between a 3.5-4 stars for me but I am rounding it to a full 4 stars because of the wonderful audio performance.

The character development was phenomenal and no stone was left unturned as the author detailed the two main characters, their psyches, quirks and all. I am a fan of multiple points of view and multiple timelines, so that element of the book is a major plus for me. My only criticism involves the pacing of the book. There is a lot to digest in the end - A LOT - and I think I would have preferred it if some of the revelations came sooner, so as not to overwhelm the reader at the conclusion.
