Watch Out For Her by Samantha M. Bailey

A thrilling novel about a mother who must keep watch, at all times, if she wants to keep her family safe.

I enjoyed reading this book. Many twists and turns. Well-written, unbelievable story, wonderful characters. I recommend this book.

Thanks to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for my review.

This book! I had the hardest time putting it down! It was a great domestic thriller. I did feel bad for the nanny in this story! But loved this book overall! I loved the twists and turns in this book. Highly recommend

I felt very sorry for the nanny at the heart of this story, who was so emotionally abused by her family that she failed to develop appropriate boundaries. The mother, while not betrayed in the usual way, is again a victim of a man. The technology makes this a modern story, but is never the center of the tale.

Fasten your seatbelt and keep looking over your shoulder. Someone may be watching. Bailey's second thriller is a wild ride with more unexpected twists and turns that you can predict. Sarah Goldman moves with her husband, Daniel, and 6-year-old son, Jacob, from Vancouver to Toronto, hoping to leave behind traumatic events and start over. But no such luck. This fast-paced ride leads to a surprise ending that may leave you gasping.

Watch out for this! This was a fun read with twists and turns that I wasn't expecting! This domestic thriller had me checking outside my windows to make sure no one was peeking in! This was extremely well written, and the plot was smooth and kept me intrigued the entire time. The ending will have your jaw on the floor!

I know I really enjoyed a book when I couldn't wait to go back to the storyline each day. This psychological thriller made me want to keep reading because it was told through two different perspectives, and each character was well-developed.

First there is Holly, the 22-year-old babysitter who comes from a terrible home life and attaches herself to the family of her new job. Does she go too far? Then there is Sarah, the mother of Jacob, who ends up having to move across the country just to get away from the babysitter. However, Sarah becomes aware that someone is still watching her and her family. Did Holly follow them to create terror on their lives?

I was definitely more intrigued with Holly's perspective, but the book had enough twists and turns that made me want to keep reading.

I would give this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars if I could, but I enjoyed it enough to give it five stars. I was given this book for my honest review.

So I was very excited to read this book but unfortunately it fell flat… I usually enjoy a slow burn but this one was just too slow and by the time it started moving better I was not invested anymore.

Thank you to NetGalley for an early release of this book for my honest review.

2.75 rounded up

Sarah Goldman and her Husband Daniel are happy to hire 22 year old Holly Monroe to look after their six year old son over the summer. Everything is perfect in this new dynamic with Holly, and Sarah begins to see a friend in her. But what happens when a shocking truth is revealed about Holly that makes Sarah and her family flee their home? Sarah has put it all behind her and is starting over in a different city with her husband and son. They’ve settled into a friendly suburb where the neighbors, a tight clique of good citizens, are always on the lookout for danger. But when Sarah finds hidden cameras in her new home, she has to wonder: Has her past caught up to her, and worse yet, who’s watching her now?

Sounds interesting, right? well, the description was the most interesting part of this book. Look, if you want a story about a nanny who becomes obsessed with the family she works for, just watch 'deadly illusions' on Netflix.

I loved Samantha M. Bailey's Debut 'Woman on the edge' even though it was a bit crazy and unrealistic, because it was fun. This, however, was not fun. It was your standard thriller involving an obsessed babysitter, helicopter mom who's paranoid about all the wrong things but never the actually concerning things, and an absent husband with secrets.
I don't know if this was supposed to be a thriller or a mystery, but it failed at both. I predicted the multiple plot twists basically from the beginning and honestly the only thing I felt towards this book was a desperation to get to the end- not because I cared about what happened, but because I don't like to DNF.

4 stars out of 5

This was the second book by Samantha Bailey that I have read, and as long as she keeps writing, it definitely won't be my last!

This book was well-written and engaging and kept me guessing the whole time. I figured out the twist only a few pages ahead of when it was revealed but Bailey kept me on my toes throughout.

This book has it all- suspense, drama, and a great plot! I enjoyed reading it and can absolutely recommend it.

Picture every parent's worst nightmare -> the nanny-cam has been turned around and it's the parents and child being watched instead of the nanny... this jaw-dropping, psychological thriller has so many plot twists and turns that keep you guessing literally up to the final few chapters of the book!!

Someone is the hunter, someone is being hunted but just who is doing what, and to whom - is not completely clear... With great physical settings in two of Canada's premier cities, Vancouver and Toronto, what is clear is that this author has done her research.

WARNING!!! Make sure you are well rested before starting this book as you aren't going to want to set it down until you get to the end!!

Thank you to Simon & Schuster and Net Galley for an advance copy in return for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and was not compensated for in any way, shape, or form.

Yes! This book was definitely unputdownable! Watch Out for Her is the unique type of thriller that made me care about the characters.“Everyone has parts of themselves they’re ashamed of, that they hide.” That’s true with each character you meet throughout the book. Secrets fester and guilt takes center stage as lives are changed forever. Fast paced with a constant sense of dread, this thriller had me hooked and racing to the surprising twisty conclusion. Thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for my copy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nothing should stop you from reading this book. It hooked me from the start. So much so, that I discarded all my plans so I could just sit and read this (one afternoon and done!). I loved the alternating POV, the suspense, the not knowing... I LOVED IT ALL!!!!
I was late to the Samantha M. Bailey fan club, but after Woman on the Edge, I knew I wouldn't miss out on any of her new books going forward. This book didn't disappoint!!

I read this over a couple of days, it really kept me engaged. The 2 timelines from different perspectives was easy to follow, unlike some books I've read. I will definitely look for more by this author.

Even though I ended up reading the print copy, thank you NetGalley for the prerelease ebook.

After loving the authors previous book Woman On The Edge, I was so excited to read her latest , and it did not disappoint!
Needing some extra help with their rambunctious six year old son Jacob, Sarah and Daniel Goldman hire twenty two year old Holly. In the beginning things go smoothly Jacob adores Holly and Holly soon becomes part of the family. Hollys own family is wealthy but extremely dysfunctional and she feels safe at the Goldmans. Holly soon moves into
the guest room. Sarah always worries about Jacob’s safety and spends her times watching Holly and Jacob closely, Sarah has a photography hobby so she always has a camera in hand snapping pictures of Holly and Jacob, she sometimes crosses the line. Soon the cracks begin to show and Sarah sees Holly doing something disturbing, so the family move and tries to start over. Starting over isn’t easy, Sarah finds cameras hidden in different parts of their new home and she soon gets cryptic text message telling her that the unknown person sees everything. Did Holly follow them? Sarah begins to suspect everyone even her own husband. I truly loved this book. It alternates between Holly and Sarah past and present. I loved the twist and it was such a great mystery!

Holly is in her early twenties, has a wealthy father and stepmother, a stepsister, and more pressure than she can bear. The pressure is always on for her to win new investors for her father's business in pharmaceuticals. After a party where all of the big shots are, and after winning over the investor that her father had his eye on, Holly finds herself in a tough situation. Fortunately for her, the neighbors hired her to babysit their son. Unfortunately for Holly, she and Sarah, the mother of the child she is babysitting, get themselves into a tangled mess. The view point of the book switches between Holly in the past and Sarah at the present day. Everyone except the sweet innocent child, Jacob, have secrets that they hold close and refuse to share.
These secrets lead to emotional pain for all involved, along with putting their physical wellbeing in danger.
This was a good book and I enjoyed reading it. I will look forward to more books by this author in the future.

Sarah and Daniel hired Holly, young woman, to watch their 6-year-old son for the Summer. She starts off being a wonderful babysitter for young Jacob. One day Sarah sees something that concerned her making her wonder who Holly really is. Sarah is so concerned with Holly's actions that she moves her entire family to keep them safe from Holly. But now she thinks they are being watched. Is it Holly?

The story was a bit slow for me and although it did pick up for the second half of the book, I struggled liking any of the characters.

I loved reading Samantha's first novel and was thrilled to be able to read her second book, Watch Out for Her.

The book had me hooked from the start and had me staying up late because I needed to find out what was going to happen. The story revolves around Sarah, her six year old son, husband Daniel and their nanny Holly. What goes on behind a picture-perfect facade may not be so perfect after all.

I loved the hidden secrets, twists and untrustworthy characters in this psychological thriller!

Thank you Netgalley & Simon Schuster for the arc! Looking forward to seeing what Samantha M. Bailey comes up with next! She's definitely on my auto-read radar!

An interesting read, not an absolute favorite, was not an “I can’t put this down” but drawn in enough to finish. I’ll have to read more of this author. Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC opportunity!

Watch Out for Her by Samantha M. Bailey is a thriller about Sarah Goldman, mother to six-year-old Jacob. She is very protective of him, but knows that she needs to also take care of herself. So she and her husband decide to hire Holly to take care of her son during the summer. Holly has some issues at home and starts to get overly protective of Sarah because she is like the mother that Holly never had. Holly inserts herself fully into the Goldman's lives and starts to shut out her own family. Then, Sarah and her family move away, Holly disappears, and some strange things start happening in Sarah's new home. Is Holly messing with them now? What's going on? This book was a quick read, but the mom is overly paranoid and yet super gullible at the same time. The other characters were slightly off to me too, so I didn't really enjoy this story as much as I would have liked. Thanks to NetGalley for the free digital review copy. All opinions are my own.
