There is something wrong as the story opens but it is not made clear to the reader what is wrong. The book is told from alternating points of view: Holly is before and Sarah is now. Holly is a first year med student who seems perfect as a babysitter for 6year old Jacob for the summer. Sarah and Daniel are Jacob's parents. The characters are well developed and believable. Sarah begins to struggle with thoughts that Holly is not as perfect as she appears to be. Daniel doesn't see thAt anything is wrong. The story held my interest from beginning to end.
I received an advanced readers copy from Simon & Schuster through NetGalley for the purpose of review. All opinions are entirely my own.

Sam Bailey has done it again. Book number two from this Canadian author is another dark, twisty and seriously creepy read. As a regular thriller reader it’s been a long time since a book creeped me out enough to make me not want to read it at night but the stalkerish, tense vibes of this book made it one that I definitely saved for daylight hours.

Told in alternating perspectives from Mom, Sarah and recently hired nanny, Holly, it’s hard to know who to trust in this domestic thriller and my desire to find out what really happened was strong which meant that I absolutely flew through this one.

The writing was excellent, the characters suitably flawed and well developed and the pacing made this book extra tense. Loved it!

Told from two perspectives are the stories of Sarah and Holly. Sarah, mother to six-year-old Jacob, has recently moved to Toronto to escape the life they had, including their previous babysitter - Holly. From a perspective of "before", Holly tells her side of the story. Sarah feels like, despite all of her effort, their previous life (and Holly) has followed them. Holly feels like Sarah doesn't understand. As tensions build, their stories collide as the truth is revealed.

Initially, this book caught my attention. I love a book told in multiple timelines and perspectives, as pieces of the story come together in unexpected ways. I think the premise of this story was a good and unique, and I was intrigued to see the story play out.

Unfortunately, as this book went on I felt myself becoming more confused rather than feeling suspense building. I kept waiting for something to happen to be a twist, and when the finale was revealed I found it rather predictable and underwhelming.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was one of my most anticipated books of the year and it definitely didn’t disappoint. I loved this author’s debut book, Woman On The Edge, and I enjoyed this one even more. This was a book I nearly read in one sitting. It’s that good! The characters in this psychological thriller were well developed and compelling and the plot was suspenseful. The story is told by two POV’s which worked great with this well paced plot. Both of these female POV’s were interesting, complex, and unknowingly brought out the worst in each other. I appreciated that the book was set in Vancouver and Toronto. Overall this was an intense story with obsessive and manipulative characters and great twists. This will definitely be one of my top books of the year!

Watch Out for Her is a thrilling mystery told through the eyes of two different characters: Sarah and Holly. The book transitions from what happened in the past to what is currently happening. What I really liked about this book is it never became confusing. Each woman’s voice was easy to identify and each timeline worked seamlessly together.
I definitely liked Holly more than Sarah. Holly was an ambitious twenty something who took control of her life while Holly was a whiny, paranoid woman who spied on people. Holly had plenty of faults, but I understood her reasoning and sympathized with her. Sarah just annoyed me.
Still, the plot was gripping and I sped through the book. I also liked that it took place in Canada. I don’t often get to read books set there.
Overall, I recommend this thriller. I did guess the ending, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it.

This thriller had a lot of drama but was somewhat enjoyable. It wasn’t one of my favorites but the plot did keep me engaged and I was curious to see how the story all ended.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy to honestly review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Watch Out for Her by Samantha M. Bailey

This psychological thriller will have you hooked until the end.
Sarah and her husband Daniel have a son named Jacob who is very energetic. Sarah is a helicopter mom and worries too much about her son. She decided to bring in Holly who is her stepsister, but Sarah knows she loved Jacob and he loves her as well.
Things start to start going wrong when Sarah noticed Holly doing things that are not appropriate. She decided to move her family and leave Holly alone. Will Holly go to the extremes to stay part of the family Or will she let them go?

I really enjoyed this book and I finished it in a day. 🙈 The plot twist and the dysfunctional family story kept me
Wanting more and more. The book is written in Sarah’s and Holly’s perspective which was great so you really understand both of them. You really don’t know who to trust as you’re reading the book. The final plot twist was shocking 😱😱

Thank you NetGalley and Simon&schuster for the ARC

All Holly ever wanted was a family to love her and accept her for who she was. And she’ll do anything to receive their love.

Watch Out For Her had a very compelling start. Holly is a poor little rich girl. And I say that somewhat tongue in cheek, but she really hasn't had it easy. It's one of those situations where the parents have so much money that they basically hire out for everything and pay little actual emotional attention to their children. Add to that the fact that she was raised by her father and a (wicked) stepmom, she has issues.

So when she is kicked out of her father's house for stealing from her stepmom, she sees it as an opportunity to be a part of a caring family, something she has never experienced. She recently started babysitting for a local family and basically positions herself to move in with them as a live-in nanny.

But it's not as innocent as it sounds. There's lies and decent, there's blackmail, and in the end, the family flees across the country to escape her. Why? Well, you'll just have to read it! Thanks to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster for an advanced e-galley in exchange for my honest review. This one is out now.

Samantha M. Bailey's second domestic thriller is a rare read because it gives every key player dirty little secrets that tethers them and then tears them apart. Despite their best intentions, everyone is at cross-purposes. Best yet: you will not guess the killer. It is truly a spine-tingling that deserves to be on every mystery lover's reading list.

I received this from Netgalley for an honest review. Mysterious and wonderfully written. I did know who to believe in this story. Each POV will take you on a journey.

There was definitely a creepy vibe to this book from the beginning. The author kept just enough of the "want to know" information away from the reader which made me want to know all that more.

I felt menacing vibes throughout that kept me wondering what was going on and kept me on the edge of my seat. I found that the characters ranged from the unsympathetic to the annoying but still were fascinating and memorable. Some of their traits were a little cliche but I looked past because I was caught up in the suspense!! Many were yearning for recognition, attention, and love. All had hidden secrets, and who could be trusted?

Many thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for an ARC of this book!

Thanks to Netgalley for sending me the ARC! I really liked this story and had a hard time putting it down. It was a quick read with a great ending. I rate this book a 4.1

3.5 stars for this average paced thriller. Two POVs in the present and past for the two characters Sarah and Holly. Was Holly a stalker, was Sarah losing her mind. Give this a read as the ending will be so unexpected. Excellent character development.

This Canadian girl’s heart is so happy reading a thriller set in her hometown of Toronto and in Vancouver, another fave city 😍

Sarah and Daniel live in North Van with their son Jacob. To give Sarah a chance to focus on her photograph, they hire Holly, a neighbour, to babysit.

This sets the scene for an addictive story of obsession, power, family and romantic relationships, lies, corruption and money that takes us from the country clubs of Van to family neighbourhoods of Toronto.

I was immediately hooked from page one.

I loved the alternating chapters with Sarah and Holly’s POVs in the past and present. I was particularly intrigued by Holly and loved her character development.

I really like unreliable narrators in thrillers and the book’s format lets this this shine as it builds tension until the book’s climax in the last 10%.

So many times, you don’t feel anything for character in thrillers. That’s not the case here. Things aren’t black & white and characters have layers and even when you don’t agree with their actions, you feel for them and connect to them.

TDLR: You need this on your TBR !

Just finished reading WATCH OUT FOR HER by Samantha M. Bailey. Thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada for my eARC copy in exchange for my honest review. Official publication date was April 26th, 2022.

As a fan of WOMAN ON THE EDGE, I knew I needed to get my hands on this one. I haven't read many thrillers recently, but I enjoyed this one. Loved the creepy stalker vibes that Bailey created in her debut follow up. I felt like even I was looking over my shoulders while reading 👀.

This one is told from dual POV, in both the past & present. With an unofficial mother daughter relationship, a babysitting gig gone bad, and unreliable narrators. Was also surprised by the ending, which always adds an extra 🌟 from me!

Pick this one up if you like the sounds of any of the above

Samantha Bailey’s novel Watch Out for Her is an ok read as far as thrillers go. This was not a fast-paced thriller as some suggest, it did not always hold my attention. The characters are well-developed and wonderfully flawed and will fascinate readers. I did enjoy that it had multiple plots and timelines.

I love thrillers, this was somewhat exciting but fell flat at times.
