The Undead Truth of Us by Britney S. Lewis
----------------------------------------------------------
The story is about a girl, Zharie Young (known as Z) who is certain that her mother morphed into a zombie before her death, but she can't seem to figure out why. Why her mother died, why her aunt doesn't want her around, why all her dreams hopelessly out of reach. And why, ever since that day, she's been seeing zombies everywhere.

Meeting Bo โ€• tall, skateboard in hand, freckles like stars, and an undeniable charm - who transforms into a half-zombie right before her eyes. He contradicts everything she thought she knew about monsters, and she can't help but wonder if getting to know him might unlock the answers to her mother's death.

My thoughts:

โ˜ I personally think this book is about "self-discovery journey". Related to love of course! What does it mean to lose ourselves and be shrouded by fear? Why do we as human beings underserved happiness?

โ˜ I am still glued and keep on tapping through my kindle even tho the story is a bit lengthy in the first half. Probably the author focuses on the issue of why Z always sees many zombies and grieves after her mother. But at one point, I enjoyed it when Boo and his friends came into the scene.

โ˜ I do wish all of them to have plenty of scenes together. Even tho I kinda feel their friendship is too fast-forward but the impromptu trip to the wild? It was screaming at me to join the fun! Hello, they should invite me!

โ˜ This is not a romance story that leaves you squealed. It's a kind of love story that turns someone's grief into a rainbow. I love how the author jumps from one story to another flawless. There isn't much plot to occur but in the end, you will shockingly know why her dead mother and some people turn into a zombie. I was genuinely impressed! The truth was clear as a day when I discovered it. The message behind is so metaphoric and was beautifully written! Thank you to the author and @netgalley for this e-ARC! Can't wait for the official release soon <3

โ€œFive days.Five.That was how long it took for mama to turn into a zombie.โ€
This book got me hooked from the opening line!! And !!THE WRITING!! is so so compelling, there are scenes that felt so intimate and intense I felt like I was in the moment with Z, feeling what sheโ€™s feeling. Whenever the zombification happen, I actually felt my skin itch a bitโ€ฆ such a surreal experience! My most favorite part is not the romance, surprisingly. Itโ€™s how Z talk about her mother and how she visualize her grief, itโ€™s so captivating.

I have to say tho the pace was weird at first and some part felt flat and underwhelming. every character has said some icky stuffs I cringed so hard I had to pause. ((Slight spoiler)) And Would I be a hater if I say i didnโ€™t want them together? I wish they stay as friend,at least for awhileโ€ฆ

Overall I like this book I really enjoy the experience but I donโ€™t think itโ€™s my cup of tea!!๐Ÿค๐Ÿค

What do you do when you are the only one to see zombiesโ€ฆand they are everywhere? Zharie Young is trying to figure out why while she mourns the loss of her mother and feels drawn to the sweet, considerate boy Bo, who lives In her building.
Author Lewis weaves a magical tale of colors, sunflowers, visceral language and the power of love. While the pacing of the story sometimes feels uneven, this reader was rooting for Zharie as she tried to understand her visionsโ€ฆand ultimately, her place in the world.
