Cait Du Bois is attending her high school reunion at Hotel Lilith, the same place her senior prom was held. Prom should have been a fun night, but for Cait, it was a nightmare. But she has moved on and is now a happily married woman and a bestselling author with a large fan base.

Attending her high school reunion should be fun, but it’s not panning out to be that way. She is attending the reunion alone. Her husband, Grant who attended the same high school agreed to stay home and watch their young twins.

But being back, is not the walk down memory lane that she thought it would be. Hotel Lilith comes with baggage and painful memories. The walls at the hotel seem to have eyes. Someone knows what happened all those years ago. Someone who will stop at nothing to remind her of that night. To torment her, to shock her, to ruin her reunion.

Cait is sent a mysterious package, receives threatening texts, and strange phone calls. The only light at the end of this dark tunnel is seeing her high school boyfriend, Sam again. Maybe the two of them can figure out who and why is behind the threats. Is this the work of a stalker or is this related to that horrible night?

This was a whodunit of sorts. As the narration progressed, I was eager to learn what happened on prom night. Plus, I was intrigued to learn who has tormenting Cait. What were the motives? The book moved at a nice pace, and I enjoyed it; although, it was not my favorite by this author. There is a nice twist and reveal which was a little bit of a shocker for me.

3..5 stars

Most are enjoying this book more than I did and I encourage you to read their reviews as well.

Whew this was a long one!

I felt like this book went on forever! The good news is, it was a great story so I was all for it! Sometimes long winded stories are filled with duplicity and repetition, this book however was not. All of the points were new information and revealed a little bit more of the plot.

Sam was probably my favorite character despite some… things he may have done in his childhood ;). He just seemed like an all around good guy. I also think that Grant was a good character as well. The kind, strong, male character isn’t always in stories and it was refreshing!

I did guess the ending, in a way but it was still a great ride! I would highly recommend this book. & the narrator was great too!

Cait is back in her home town for her high school reunion. She is a famous author now and although she's happy to have some quiet time to write before the reunion starts; she doesnt have alot of fond memories of high school.
This story switches between Cait, present day, and Cait at 16. Cait at 16 was not in the popular group. She leaned on her only two friends; Jamie and Sam.

I was immediately sucked into this story. We know something terrible happened back then but we don't know what. The way the chapters go back and forth between the two timelines, really keeps the reader on their toes. Each chapter feels like a cliffhanger and you can't help but say "just one more chapter".  As always Modglin delivers with some satisfying twists!

I listened to the audio and really enjoyed the narrator's telling of the story. It was well done!

I enjoyed this book very much. I thought it was very well written and I liked the well developed characters, mild suspense, and the equally engaging dual timelines I was very interested in finding out how the characters got from where they were as teenagers to where-and with whom--they ended up as adults. One weird thing that did bother me a bit was that everyone kept referring to one character, who was assumed to be around the same age as the main characters--therefore an adult not far from 30 in the present storyline--as "the girl." Can't imagine a male character of that age being referred to as "the boy"! But all in all, I liked the book so much that I've now started reading other books by Kiersten Modglin. The narrator of the audiobook version was excellent. Many thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to the audio e-ARC of this book. 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5

This is a spooky read that kept me guessing. Hotel Lilith is a haunted place from Cait Du Bois' past and she is being forced (actually no one is forcing her but she seems intent on attending) to return for her high school reunion. She comes up a week early to focus on her writing and some distressing events start to take place. Is it real? Is she imagining it because of the stress of the location?

This is a story told through two different time periods - current day and high school. There is a cast of characters that circulates through both and some important changes that are slowly revealed between now and then. I did find that I had to suspend some belief to really get into the story in full - a lot of the choices that Cait made seemed unnecessary. It was kind of like the classic horror movie schtick where instead of running to safety the characters always run towards the danger.

The audiobook is performed by Meg Price. I really enjoyed her narration and found that she was really tactful about differentiating the time periods. The story flowed easily and quickly (I listened in 24 hours!) and it was easy to keep up. Highly recommend!

The Reunion will be out January 18, 2022.

2/5 ⭐️
Thanks to Netgalley for giving me a copy to review
This started good, I liked how it alternated between past and present chapters, but around the 50% mark it got really dull and I didn’t care about any of the characters and I skimmed.

Kiersten Modglin’s The Reunion centers around Hotel Lilith where high schooler, Cait du Bois, experienced the darkest night of her life. In the present, Cait is a successful author and is determined to put the past behind her by attending her high school reunion at the same hotel she vowed to never to return to. Shortly after she arrives at the hotel, strange things begin to happen and it seems someone is determined to shed light on Cait’s secrets about the tragic event from years before.

The Reunion was an addicting story! I was completely engrossed in both timelines that kept me guessing until the very end! I enjoyed this dark and twisty spin on high school drama: great writing and characters. This is a fast-paced thriller you won’t want to put down! Another home run from KMod!👏👏

This is the 6th book by this author I have read and by far my favorite. I loved the dual time lines, the love triangles, the twists and turns. All of it.

Cait returns to the hotel where her best friend was murdered for their 10 year reunion, but when she realizes she might have a stalker, secrets from that night start coming out.

Thanks so much to the publisher for providing me an advanced copy of the audiobook version of The Reunion by Kiersten Modglin. The narrater was great!

This was only the second book I have read by this author and I can honestly say, I get why so many people rave about her books! This one was SO addictive. Luckily, having time off for the holidays, I had plenty of time to binge-listen. There were some surprising twists and turns throughout the book that I had not figured out on my own, so bonus points to the author for being able to pull off the ever-elusive "twist". For those reasons I just mentioned, I had to give The Reunion 4 stars. I defy anyone to NOT get hooked on the story and stick with it to the end. That is a good thriller.

I HAVE to talk about what I didn't like, though as it almost caused me to rate the book down a star lower: Cait was a frustrating character. Her relationships with Sam, Jamie, AND Grant had me screaming at her throughout in my head. She made lots of bad choices and ruminated way too much. So your best friend leaves you for the popular crowd. Its sad, but in time, MOVE ON! Make other friends. You are a successful author, but you still allow yourself to feel cowed by the lead "popular" girl 10 years after high school ended. Here's a thought, don't go to your reunion!!! And don't even get me started on Sam. So he's close enough with you after high school to be in your wedding party years later when you get married, but you don't know ANYTHING about his personal life between high school and now? Seriously, either that plot point wasn't well thought out or Cait is the most self-absorbed character I have ever read about!

I overlooked Cait's immaturity and other flaws in character development because I was enjoying the mystery.

Loved this book by Kiersten Mosglin. This is probably the 3rd book I have read by her. This is a intriguing thriller that got me pulled in from the start. As the story went on more twists and turns made the story more exciting. I couldn't wait to get to the end to find out what was actually going on as I couldn't figure out why this woman was being tormented.

Thank you for this advanced copy. I originally thought this book was very slow moving and almost stopped listening. I'm glad I didn't. Once the book got past some of the initial childhood memories, the suspense grew more intense. This was a book where you cannot guess the ending. It's sad that a lot of these characters haven't grown past silly high school things. Great narration!

I’ve read a review that Kiersten Modglin was referred to as the queen of suspense and they’d be right! She delivers again and again. She’s become my favorite suspense writer! Narrated by Meg Price this audiobook was great. I loved how she narrated it.
This brought back high school and my insecurities and how important it was to fit in. The peer pressure and odd moments. Growing into my body and how important EVERYTHING was. Not knowing that when I grew up none of it would matter! This brought all that back. The beautiful boys, awkward girls and the really mean girls.
It had tons of suspense and had me doubting everyone in this story. I love a good mystery and suspense and that’s just what this was. How perfect is it that you can go back to your reunion and have all this drama. The possibilities were endless and I couldn’t figure out how it would end. Thanks Kiersten Modglin to another great read.

And thanks Dreamscape Media via NetGalley. #TheReunion #NetGalley

This was another well written thriller by Kiersten Modglin. This had all her signature twists in it but for me, something was missing. I didn’t feel the same anxiety that I usually do. I think it was the characters and the setting. It could have also been the slow buildup to the drama, which takes quite a long time to get going. While a class reunion should evoke feelings of anxiety, I didn’t get much of that at all. In fact, the characters all seemed petty and vindictive, particularly Cait, who comes off as wronged and wounded by her high school years but still not very likeable. Still, I enjoyed this story and will continue to read Kiersten Modglin’s books.

Kiersten modglin loves an unexpected, yet oddly hinted at, twist. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride and the audiobook narrator was a dream.

The only thing ‘thrilling’ about this… is that it’s finally over!

It’s very, very rarely that I dislike a novel from the first to last page. Being trapped in Cait’s head was torture. Never seen a character contemplate decisions for so long only to make the worst possible choice time after time. I found myself saying ‘For the love of God… JUST LEAVE!’ throughout the present day storyline. Seriously, the resolution was that easy.

This was 95% teenage-ish soap opera & 5% thrill and by the time the ‘twist’ was finally revealed I, honestly, wanted to jump through the pages and hurt this woman myself for her sheer stupidity.

I think I may have liked this a little bit better in print version rather than audio. I found that the overly dramatic dialogue was only made worse by the narration. All in all, this was a total flop for me and I’m having a hard time understanding the high ratings. Only 2 stars from me & that’s being generous.

Okay, Kiersten Modglin has officially (and effortlessly) won me over!

I’m always a little apprehensive when reading books that I see all over bookstagram but I decided to take a shot with this one and I am sooooo happy I did.

KMod has a way of captivating readers from very early on and keeping readers captivating until the very end. This novel is written with alternating timelines which is a favorite of mine. There are plenty of twist and turns and all sorts of different aspects I never saw coming. The attention to the small details in this novel was refreshing to see and I loved the consistency throughout. While I listened to this as an audiobook, I can easily surmise that I would have enjoyed this book no matter what the format. Easy read, captivating plot, and even better wrap up. Highly recommend!

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC

Another hit by this author. This one was interesting right from the get go. It was a fun mystery with a splash of YA (half of it being from the pov of high school students in the past) and romance too!
Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to listen to this audiobook early and thank you the publisher and of course Kiersten Modglin, whom never disappoints me!

First book of the year, and its a solid 4.5! I'm having great feelings about 2022. I loved the audiobook of The Reunion, and highly recommend it. If you're a fan of Cruel Summer, Pretty Little Liars, or any revenge-type thriller, this one is for you. I absolutely loved the twisted ending, and thought it worked perfectly, throwing the reader into a complete 180. Clear your day—you’ll want to read this fast paced psychological thriller in one sitting!

(4.5) Jaw drop! This was incredible. I wasn’t expecting it too get too intense as the first half had a decently slow build up but the last third had my heart rate increasing the further and further it got. It took twists I didn’t see coming at all and left me with my jaw on the floor. Incredible! I loved the dual timelines and the slow burn release of the past, it was very well executed.

The narrator did a fantastic job and kept me hooked. Delivery was spot on.

Ten years ago, Cait’s life was flipped upside down. High school had been filled with heartbreak, loneliness, confusion, and betrayal but she had moved on from that. Happily married, mother of two, and a famous author, she was able to piece her life back together after the death of her best friend. Now, ten years later, the murderer still hasn’t been found and even though her hometown holds a lot of painful memories she is determined to go back for her high school reunion and claim back some of her past. While staying at the same hotel as that fateful night, she meets a fan who she feels compelled to open up to. But suddenly things don’t seem right. Something is off… and someone may be out for revenge for what happened ten years ago.
