I've read quite a few by Kiersten Modeling now and she never seems to disappoint me. She really is the master of creating a unique, refreshing thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from the beginning to end. I found each of the main characters pretty interesting and had a hard time figuring out who could be trusted and who couldn't. The author does a great job of making it seem like everybody could be trusted but that there could be a hidden dark player as well. I was definitely shocked by the final reveal and could not figure it out myself. I thought this was very well written and I look forward to more from this author. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced copy and exchange for an honest review.

What a great audiobook to dive into and not look back! The narration was perfect for this story - engaging, suspenseful and mysterious. Easy listen and follow along.

Cait Du Bois returns to her hometown for her high school reunion, a place she vowed never to return to. This place has bad memories for her and builds up to learning about an event that happened to a friend their senior year. As a famous author, she is used to be recognized. However, when recognized in her hometown the nightmare begins when she is threatened that all the secrets from her time in high school will be revealed.

This book was fantastic! I loved the way that the story line switched between the past and present day. I had no guesses as to what was going to be the final outcome and was baffled when I found out. The story was fantastic and the narration was also great! Highly recommend this one.

I loved this book. No one does twist and turns better than Kiersten, and this book was no exception. I couldn’t stop with this one. Unputdownable! I liked most everything about this one, and definitely recommend it to anyone who loves other books by this author.

Didn't grab me right off. This is unusual for me and Ms. Modglin's books. Also got bogged down so it didn't really flow well for me

Thanks NetGalley, the publisher and the author Kiersten Modglin. This was a reunion to die for ... This author is the queen of twists. Small books with just the right length and keeps on giving bangers. I won't break down the synopsis. If you know..you just know.

Thanks again!

The Reunion
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ten years ago, Cait and her schoolmates experienced a tragedy at their senior prom held at Hotel Lilith. Now, ten years later, she finds herself back at that same hotel for her high school reunion. When strange things begin happening… phone calls, text messages and a mysterious package… Cait can’t help feeling like her past is out to get her. She survived Hotel Lilith once…will she again?

I am very quickly becoming a super-fan of Kiersten Modglin’s work and this book is no exception! I loved the dual timelines and how we got a complete picture of life both presently and in high school for Cait. Modglin’s signature quick, fast-paced writing keeps you on the edge of your seat right until the end. Highly recommend!

You Should Totally Read This:

• if you like thrillers with creepy settings
• if you love when you don’t know who to trust
• if the thought of high school reunions makes you cringe

🌟🌟/5

Getting approved to read another KMod book got me really excited! My first and only book I read by Kiersten was The Arrangement. And wow, was that a solid 5 star read! But The Reunion…

To me, this book felt like a YA romance or a *super* cozy mystery. At first, the beginning seemed to be a slow burn. Slowly building up to the main event. But then the entire book turned out to be a slow burn. Modglin is known for crazy endings so I kept on pushing through.
85% of the story ended up being about high school drama and Cait Du Bois not being able to make up her mind about whether she wanted to be with Grant or Sam. The other 15% was the mystery about who truly killed Jamie, and Cait trying to figure out who the stranger is that’s been harassing and threatening her in the days leading up to the reunion.

As an avid mystery and thriller reader, this book did not meet my expectations, which Modglin had set very high with The Arrangement. The Reunion just fell flat for me, sadly. Nevertheless, this will not stop me from reading more KMod books.

Thank you to Netgalley for this audiobook.

I really liked this book. It gripped me from the very beginning and it was a great mystery/thriller novel.

The Reunion is the story of Cait, who was somewhat of a social outcast in high school. Cait is reluctantly attending her ten year class reunion, mainly to show everyone that she's become a successful author and has persevered, despite a horrible tragedy on prom night, affecting her life in her small hometown. Cait has run away, and until the reunion, never looked back. But, once she arrives at the hotel where the reunion is taking place, (which is also the hotel where the tragedy took place), things start going awry when someone claims to know what really happened prom night.

I really enjoyed Kiersten Modglin's writing style. I enjoyed how she left you guessing and only dropped little bits of the story throughout, letting it slowly unravel until the big reveal/twist at the end. Very well done and I have become a fan of Modglin's. Looking forward to reading her other works!

ARC audiobook given in exchange for an honest review.

I believe this is the same narrator that is used for some of this authors other books as well, and she’s quite enjoyable. I really enjoyed the plot of this book and constant twist and turns kept me hooked! There were certain moments where I was questioning everything I knew and couldn’t decide if it was an unreliable narrator or not! (I’m not going to give away anything that happens so you better read it yourself to find out.) I like to dive into books completely blink so I don’t have any preconceived notions as to where the story is going. I’m really glad I found one and know that others will enjoy too!

I would give this book a solid 4.5/5 stars. It was very well written with an interesting plot. I listened to it as an audiobook and really enjoyed it.

It has an alternating timeline that is pretty easy to follow in my opinion.

The plot follows Cait DuBois in current time going to her high school’s ten year reunion, and as a teenager in high school. In current time she is at the hotel where something bad happened in high school, staying alone as her husband is home with their kids. It is established that something horrible happened at the hotel but it is only alluded to. She meets a new woman and things go downhill from there. She starts getting weird messages and calls and that’s just the beginning. In high school we follow her and her best friends as they navigate being teenagers. There was definitely a lot of angst and harsh feelings. It’s over the span of about 2 years and we get the important details for the big finale. It explains the relationships and the backgrounds for everything.

You can definitely feel the build up and the tension for the ending. It was a little frustrating to me how it felt like it kept bringing you right to where you think you understand and then throwing something new in the midst. Although I really enjoyed that I wasn’t able to guess the ending. It was wasn’t slow by any means but it was driving me crazy how long it took for things to start unfolding. I really enjoyed the plot twists and how crazy the ending was.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did an amazing job. She spoke clearly and loud enough that I didn’t have to strain to hear her while working. Meg Price did a phenomenal job bringing this story to life. I would definitely recommend listening to this one.

A big thanks to NetGalley and dreamscape media for giving me an advanced listening copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun one! The pacing for KMod's books is always so good. There's never a time when you need her to get on with the story. The characters are both likeable and unlikeable at the same time. It's so hard to pick a side and know who to believe. This one was told with dual timelines from one POV and I really enjoyed the way it was done. There was lots of backstabbing, mean girls, cheating, jealousy, and all the angst you crave from a good dramatic suspense thriller. I can't wait to read another one of these. I can't help it, I'm a KMod fan!

#TheReunionby @kierstenmodglinauthor was my first #audiobook of the #2022! Read awesomely by @megpriceaudio !
In this thriller, Cait du Bois, a famous author, decides to go to her high school reunion. She did not have the best time in hs as she was not part of the popular crowd and lost her two best friends- one to drama - the other by death. The last time she saw her best friend it was at their prom, and this reunion is being held at the same hotel that the prom was those many years ago. While there she acquires a stalker and is so confused as to why. Things get scarier when this stalker decides to threaten her and her family. Daring not to go home, but deciding to get to the bottom of it, Cait stays. What ensues is totally unexpected as the story flashes from present day reunion back to that fateful prom night. This story was full of surprises, good drama, and betrayals. I enjoyed it and so will you - give it an ear; it will give you an earful - of drama and suspense!
Many thanks to @dreamscape_media for the audiobook in exchange for review!

Now that’s how to write a thriller!! I know this is technically my first thriller of the year, but I think it might be one of my favorites. The character development and relationships were perfect alongside all the twists and turns. I felt so deeply for the main character Kate, as we followed a dual timeline watching her now as a successful author and also as a anxiety ridden teen. Loved this book, so sad to have it end!!

Review of The Reunion by Kiersten Modglin

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As usual for this author, I flew through this book. I listened to it on audio and it took me about 17 hours from start to finish. I couldn’t stop listening. I was very surprised at the ending!

Quick synopsis: Kate is back in her hometown for her high school reunion. She is a best selling author married to one of the most popular guys from their school. He is staying home with their twins. She is reluctant to travel back because her best friend (who was dating her now husband back then) died on prom night and many people blame Kate. Right away strange things begin to happen. She meets an odd woman who claims to be a fan but then starts to stalk her. She gets weird messages and packages. Is her old friend really dead? Or who is after her and how far will they take it?

A big thank you to @netgalley and dreamscape for the audio copy of this one. This counts for #theyearofnetgalley challenge!

The Reunion by Kiersten Modglin is a fun murder mystery and, at least half way through, it's a what exactly is going on mystery. I enjoyed the slow burn unveiling of everyone's secrets.

Cait Du Bois, bestselling thriller author, is back at Hotel Lilith where the worst night of her life happened ten years ago at her high school prom. Now at her ten year reunion part of her wishes she was home with her husband and their young twins. But she needs to not let the bullies win. She was accused of murder, lost her best friends and was basically run out of town. Now she is back as a success and she needs the past to be resolved once and for all.

Alternating from the past to the present narrator Meg Price is perfect at transitioning from teenager to adult. The edginess of everything being at a ten for a teen to the exasperation of dealing with life as an adult is clearly heard in her performance.

I was surprised by who Cait marries, annoyed by an old friend and slightly disappointed by the guilty party but thoroughly entertained throughout.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the publisher via #netgalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

My first read by this author and it will not be the last.

Cait, Jamie, and Sam built their friendship since the very early years of school, during which they became victims of the popular kids' squad. But when Jamie began to get noticed by the boy from the popular group, and eventually joined the "cool kids club", their friendship took an unexpected turn. But the worst part took place during their senior prom.

Ten years later Cat arrives at Hotel Lilith. The place that holds the worst memory. It's her high school reunion. And it's time to face the truth of what has happened to her friend.

This book has so many twists and turns. The revenge is better served cold, isn't that what people say? And this revenge is bone-chilling. In the beginning, a thought crossed my mind that Cat and Grant's marriage was a part of vengeance. Later I began to suspect Sam, although my intuition was right nevertheless I loved the author's version of the events, it was better than I expected it. As the novel has ended and I could not help myself but feel extremely saddened by Jamie's story. The price she has paid for high school popularity caused her to lose the trust of her friends, in the end, it would have saved her life.

The last act of the novel was my favorite. I was on the edge of my seat! The spider web of the events was finally explained and it was stupendous. It has been a while since I was last impressed by an amusing thriller. Starting with a bewildering plot to phenomenal characters, this book has everything needed for an exciting dark thriller. Thank you NetGalley and Kiersten Modglin for a phenomenal read.
